MODEM
I am using my note 2 on metropcs gsm (tmobile) MK4 automatically reconnects after signal loss / new tower. HSPDA reconnects as well. You can update after using ma7 to perform unlock.
SD CARD
Replacing the sim board affects the sd slot. The new sd slot requires you push the sd card to the end of its travel and affix with strong tape for it to work. I can access all the files on my sd card with this trick

[Q] New Sim Card

I recently purchased a G2 and was wondering if there is any benifit in activating the new simcard? I live in an area where 3G is everywhere but inside the city limits. I used to work at At&t way back when it was Cingular and I briefly remeber telling people something about upgrading to the 64 or 128 bit simcard (can't remember for sure). I have been using the same simcard for two+ years. If I travel to area's outside the city, I can use 3G speeds.
Your Knowledge is greatly appriciated.
slim
Why not?
You have nothing to loose!
...and I'm nearly certain it doesn't give you any extra benefit; I've had my SIM Since, the T-Mo Wing[?]
& Its still Going Strong!
Just replace it the sim technolgy has been the same for several years but if its real old the new 4g network might suffer a bit but still won't be to bad but it comes with a new one so just update it. Make sure that you back up any contacts you may have saved on it first though

I called a T-mo rep about it and he said the sim cards have a expeiry date based on network transitions. He told me to activate the new sim simply because it was able to "recognize" more available bandwidth and that it did not expire from transitioning from umts, hsdpa, and hspa+ quickly where as he said mine would. (I find this bogus because my voicestream SIM card still worked)

I personally think that T-Mo are talking BS. I'd be happy to be wrong if someone can provide proof that they're actually correct on this issue.
Actually its probably best. I checked my old sim card with the new sim card and the copper connector on the back is different from the new and old sim cards. Plus after activating the new one, I didn't have hiccups transfering from E to 3G to H whereas before it would randomly drop from H to E. But thats for me.

relation between sim card and battery drain

ever since updating to the new mango, I experienced battery drain on my hd7.finally I narrowed down to one single cause - sim card.
when I first got my windowsphone, I am using the the old sim card which is 2 years old which was what i got from Telco for my iPhone 3g. IPhone 3g is more than 2 years old.
What i did was i replace my sim card with my sister's Omnia 7 and her sim card is just a month old which she got with her phone.
After using her sim card, i put back my own sim card . And the battery drain disappeared. Asked one of my frens who work in telco service support and he told me apparently my hd7 "learnt" new values OTA from my sister's newer sim card
he claims that the phone downloads software for sim over the air to update optimized for newer hspa networks.
now the battery seems a bit better. And. Does not drain in sleep mode.
I suggest those with poor battery life to try this method.of course it will be better if u got a brand new sim card from your telco
your experience with the new HSPA network will be directly affected with these phones and the old 3G sims, . It only makes sense that when the new network was implimented that a new sim would be part of this puzzle. The sim is your only connection to the network, so I'm totally perplexed as to why this is even in question. The reason you are seeing such high battery drain rates is because the old sim is not connecting to the network properly.
In this case the iPhone 3g sim card does not seems to be optimized for newer network technologies.

No connection to TMO network (UK) - sim card issue

My phone was not detecting sim card on both. No amount of reboot, wiping fixed this. Was sim card toast? Was the sim card slot a problem?
The T-mobile UK assistance advised putting the simcard into another phone. Fortunately my old phone is still lying around and still works.
Lo and behold, my old phone did detect the simcard and connection to TMO network with 4 bars.
So, was my 2 months old HOX playing up? Transfer simcard back into the HOX, and fired it up. Now simcard recognised and excellent cell connection with 5 bars.
What happened? No idea, and I share this episode in case one of you have a similar problem in future. Lesson: take simcard out and log in to network on a different phone may fix a glitch.

Unlocked N9750 Dual Sim Mobile Network Connection issues with TMobile SIM installed

Hello,
I just purchased an unlocked Note10+ N9750 Dual Sim in Taiwan, and I am currently located in Taiwan. The phone is on the latest SOFTWARE update from September 1st. ...ASI3.
When I put 2 Taiwanese SIM cards in the phone, the mobile internet works flawlessly and is extremely fast (About 200/50 on each network) when selecting SIM1 or SIM2 for mobile internet, with WiFi disabled. I can switch the cards and it works as expected.
The icons usually show 4G+, although it can sometimes slip into 4G for 10-20 seconds or so.
However, when putting my Tmobile SIM card into SIM1 or SIM2 along with a Taiwanese SIM card, and selecting the Taiwanese SIM card for mobile DATA (The goal here is to use the Taiwanese SIM card for data when in Taiwan), the mobile data is extremely slow (Around 2/0.5).
Furthermore, most of the time, when trying to access the internet, it appears that the phone is trying to connect for the first 5-10 seconds before actually bringing back internet data.
This can be with an app, like Whatsapp, or a simple Google search, or a speed test.
The icons will show 4G+ or 4G, not sure there is a pattern here.
I have tried everything I could think of with roaming ON/OFF, moving the SIM cards around, etc.
APN for Tmobile is correct and setup for IPV4/6 for normal, and IPV4 for roaming.
Again, if I simply replace the Tmobile SIM card with another Taiwanese provider (2 Taiwanese SIM cards installed), the internet is super fast and instantaneous on either SIM card.
The Tmobile SIM is working as expected in a Note9 TMobile Single SIM.
Not sure if anybody has some insight on what may be going on here...
Coming from a Note9 and the Tmobile SIM is less than 1 year old if I recall.
Thank you.
I forgot to mention that if I go into the SIM DEVICE MANAGER with both a Taiwanese SIM card and the TMOBILE SIM card installed and disable the TMOBILE SIM, the internet works fast as expected on the Taiwanese SIM.
As soon as I re-enable the TMOBILE SIM card, the internet is slow again and takes 5-10 seconds before bringing data back from a Google search, etc...
That's because if you are overseas with T-Mobile it caps data speeds I believe at 256kpbs.
I'm guessing the order of the Sim somehow maybe coming into play . Also generally second sim position will give you Lower speeds
Hello Joogle,
I should have mentioned that I have the 15GB pass from Tmobile, so 4G speeds while roaming up to 15GB. The speed when on the Tmobile card is very fast, 50/10 or so.
This is not the issue I believe.
Does 2nd position really give slower speeds? I did not know that.
Interestingly, I am in China at the moment and put a Hong Kong SIM card in slot #2 with my TMOBILE SIM in slot#1. Selected sim#2 for data, and everything works great and is always fast.
Not sure what to make out of that.
Preferred Network is set to: LET/TD-SCDMA/UMTS.
A bit confused by all the options of 4G SWITCHER.
Well, I found out that if I put my TMOBILE SIM in 3G/2G mode only, and leave the Taiwan SIM card at 4G/3G/2G, everything works great and fast with no delay...
This is fine since 3G is good enough for phone calls and text messages.
