MS Exchange ActiveSync account missing - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

All,
I would like to try using AkrutoSync instead of the wonderful Kies software. However, I cannot complete the setup, see http://www.akruto.com/sync-samsung-galaxy-note2-with-outlook/, because MS Exchange ActiveSync is not listed as an option.
Using Gemini App Manager, I see the Exchange Services service, but it is using zero bytes which suggests that it is not running. What do I need to do to make this process run?
Thx.

ActiveSync crashing - any way of validating databases?

ActiveSync is crashing on my PPC just after it connects to the exchange server, there are no clues from the debug logs (the process completely disappears).
Is there any way of verifying the databases structure, any tools?
Failing that, is there a way of deleting the database and letting the whole thing just sync again? I'm using a server connection rather than syncing to a PC's outlook.
Thanks
load up activesync on the PDA go menu options.. then delete and voula all gone
Paul
Not sure I follow you, there's no option within Activesync to delete the files, and merely setting up the server again isn't going to do the job?
What I shopuld say is that deleting the exchange server specifically states that it isn't going to delete the files.
Ah, unticking before the delete, then deleting after the ok sounds like it may do the trick?
Bummer, unticked each of the options (email, calendar, contacts, tasks), it then said it would dleete them.
Went back into options, deleted the exchange server.
Re-added the exchange server, tried to sync, activesync gets as far as the server, then dies (process disappears from list).
I'm hoping not to have to do a hard reset

[Q]Syncing contact and calendar with Outlook from work?

I'd like to sync my HTC desire's calendar and contact with Outlook from work. The issue is that at work I do not have priviledged rights to my PC, so I can't install any program and our IT helpdesk does not want to install for me an Outlook add-on that would sync with google calendar/contact.
The only thing I can do though, is to run programs on my work PC that don't require installation (ie portable apps only).
So far, what I have been able to do was to run portable thunderbird on a UBS key, collect my Outlook contact with portable thunderbird. Then transfer these thunderbird contact to thunderbird installed on my home PC and with the gContactSync addon, the thunderbird contacts extracted from thunderbird are eventually synced to my google contact(and then obviously to my phone). This is however a tedious process that I can't do on a daily basis. And it's only a one way process from home to google/phone, not the reverse. I'm wondering whether I could do this in a more convenient and more automated way (including possibly the calendar)?
Also I know the Desire can be synced with Exchange servers, but I doubt it would be feasible in my case: To start with, I don't know how I would be able to do that, and in particular how I would be able to collect the exchange server info required for the setup without the help of the IT services (they won't be particularly helpful because it is not for pro usage).
Any advice would be nice

Well, you can always try a way that worked with iPhone and any other device with MS Activesync.
If you have a VPN account to your company, try to connect with a VPN client to your desire and then you can setup an activesync account to your phone.
Try it using the actual ip address of your exchange server.
It worked for me in the past.

[Q] Import SBS2008 Exchange Certificate

Got an Omnia 7 today, but I cannot setup my exchange account as I need to import the certificate for my server (small business server 2008).
Previously, I have done this by connecting my phone to a PC using Mobile Device Centre and running the Install Certificate program on the server - quite painless.
However the Omnia doesn't connect to Windows Mobile Device Centre, therefore I cannot connect to run the cert installation - and therefore cannot access my email.
Anyone know how I would go about getting the certificate onto the handset?
Do you have another mail account other than the exchange account already set up on the device?
If so, I think the solution is to mail the certificate and add it that way. See this link too as someone was having issues with the cert and synchronisation. http://social.answers.microsoft.com...7/thread/bf9240a9-a388-4cb7-bf6d-8966ddae7707
I have yet to go down this route. My hardware at home is having issues with SBS so I'm going down a hosted option route till I can sort it

Sprint EC05 via OTA and Exchange Active sync

After the OTA update to EC05, I can no longer connect to my exchange 2003 server via Exchange Active Sync. Also had probs with WiFi hotspot not working and the voice search was eff'd up.
Sprint fixed the Hotspot prob and wanted me to prove exchange active sync is working (kinda hard when it won't work on my phone), so I used the techs phone, entered my info and within 2 sec, it had connected and was ready to configure the settings. This proved to them that it wasn't my server but their software.
When configuring, I de-select the SSL and it can't connect to the server, I select SSL and it says Unable to open connection to server due to security error.
Select both SSL and Accept all SSL certificates and get Cannot connect to server, yet as I stated previously, it worked on the tech's phone and he acknowledged that he had a custom build.
Any ideas?

Can you change what port the SSL connection is attempting to use?
Maybe check a phone that it works on and compare the port #s
here is a link where there are lots of others discussing the same issue with various fixes

this one in particular may be of some help

Got it!

Corporate Sync did -not- work for me (i.e. Accounts & Sync>Add Account>Corporate>Email address & Password) even using the “\” instructions above.
What did work for me was using the normal Email accounts setup (i.e. Choose “Email” application> Press -menu- and choose “Add Account”> Enter “Email address” & “Password”> Choose “Exchange Account”>Enter “Domain\Username” -used both domain\username no slash in front, “Password”, “Exchange Server.”
Not sure why there is an option for Corporate option for email (perhaps google apps?) if so many people having issues with it. Anyway, just choose the normal email setup.

good luck
I have seen this issue on motorola devices but personally never had this happen to me. I use my phone on a 2003 exchange server. In fact 70 percent of the people at my job have company android phones, either htc or samsung branded. Some motos but moto has problems. One thing i could recommend is download touchdown email app trial and it sometimes kick starts your active sync. I'm also not on stock rom if that makes any difference.

Unable to open connection to server due to security error

Hello,
I had my email account set up on my ET4G. I've cleared it completely in the past and been able to set it up again.
I went to add my corporate email back on my phone and I'm getting the "Unable to open connection to server due to security error". We are running Exchange 2010 SP1. We've had SP1 on for several months now so nothing has changed with the server. Any guess on why I can't set up my corporate email account any more? When I set up the account on my phone everything looks fine. It asks me what I want to sync and history etc. I don't get the error till I try to open email.
I'm able to set up outlook connections remotely and check it from my ipad and check my email on the web.
Strange. This is new on my device I got an authorization notice I didn't notice until I swiped from the top and looked at the notifications. Once I approved it I was all set.
Lots of people running exchange 2010 sp1 have this problem. Enhanced email is a great alternative and is currently free on the amazon market, I recommend it immensely. It bypasses the exchange pin which is what kills the stock email app

I'm using Enhanced Email -- still having this issue! Is it confirmed to be a problem with Exchange 2010? I've received this error on both the stock Email app, and now Enhanced Email so feel like I'm running out of options! Any help would be appreciated!
I've posted a step by step guide for connecting your Epic Touch 4G / Galaxy SII to your exchange server. It works with Exchange 2010 including Exchange 2010 SP1.

I'm not having issues actually setting up the account, that works fine. The issue is it sometimes will not be able to sync with the server, leaving me with the yellow box at the top and without an updated email inbox. As you can assume this leaves me quite helpless because I need my email right away when away from my desk.
Anyone else with this issue and potential solutions???
Thks
Thks a Ton Jim. You just saved a Samsung S2 getting sunk in the pacific. Struggling since a week.
Additional step required
This was the key! Thanks so much!
If it give you an error message such as "Unable to open connection to server due to security error", your device may require an additonal step. Slide your finger from the very top of your device to the bottom. Check for notifications and there may be a notification your must allow the security update for email to complete. Enjoy
