Busybox won't install - Nexus 7 (2013) Q&A

Just installed 4.4.3 using WugFresh's excellent NRT keeping my data.
All went OK. At the end I told NRT to Root and install TWRP. Again OK.
Except that I don't have BusyBox installed. The app isn't present. SU is OK. A root checker app shows I am rooted and that BusyBox isn't installed.
There are no BusyBox files in \system\xbin or \system\bin.
Tried Google Play for Stericson's BusyBox and when the app tries to install it gives "Incompatible update" error and stops.
Found the apk file in \data\app and it comes up with "Not installed" error.
Found the zip file that NRT stored for TWRP to install and tried re-flashing that in TWRP. It says it was successful but BusyBox Installer app not available.
It was previously installed and OK under 4.4.2 this morning.
Everything else is as it was as far as I can see.
Any ideas what's going on?
Thanks

I installed another BusyBox Installer instead and that went OK.
Don't know what the problem is with Stericson's version.

Rom manager error

So I installed Rom manager, and I tried to install Clockwork Mod that it requires you to install but I get the following error
"An error occurred while attempting to run privileged commands!"
And when I first open up Rom Manager, it says
"You must root your phone for ROM Manager to Function. Superuser was not found at /system/bin/su or system/xbin/su. "
But I rooted my phone, and my S is off...?
Have you installed the newest busybox?
Nope, I did not have anything like that installed
Busybox said my device was not rooted...But my S- is off?...

[Q] Busybox install failure

I have installed Busybox installer from Marketplace. I also managed to install Busybox 1.17.1 Now if I try to update Busybox from installler first I will get empty box with OK button and the status says: Looking for BusyBox. If I then press install the whole program crashes. I also tried to update Busybox from Titanium Backup but it carshes also. I have a stock rom 2.51.1 which is of course rooted and OC'd. So nothing special. What is wrong? What can I do?
logcat pls.
The crash for Titanium Backup was caused by Droidwall. I uninstalled then the Busybox installer which is now only Busybox(?) in Marketplace and then installed different Busybox installer and I was able to update my Busybox. So no problems anymore.

Installed OTA 4.04 -- Now having problem with root

Sorry to bother everyone.
In preparation for the 4.04 update, I flashed the stock 4.02 ROM and then was prompted to install the VZW OTA update. This flashed OK. I went ahead via adb and flashed cwm-recovery and then installed the su.zip file via the recovery console.
Once rebooting, I'm able to pop open an adb shell and type su and become the superuser, however none of the apps that require root no longer work -- root explorer, busybox installer, etc.
I'm guessing its a problem with my su file (possibly). Does anyone have any suggestions to troubleshoot? Thanks.
The problem I'm having specifically is gaining root access....fail (within su app).

System/xbin sqlite3/busybox install help

Hi,
Just rooted my nexus 5x (duh). Using the wugfresh auto unlock/root method.
The method used by the tool is the good ol classic non-systemless method. It rebooted and i was presented with my rooted phone. Upon inspection I discovered that the busybox app was also installed. When I ran it I saw that it wasn't installed. So i installed it. At least I tried. Becuase I couldn't install it at all. No error whatsoever, just that the installation could not complete. Tried different apps no luck. One app displayed that it couldn't write to system/xbin. Odd. I installed it trough recovery. Worked fine. Then I downloaded whatsappx from the exposed repo. Told me sqlite3 wasn't installed. Same problem couldn't write to system/xbin. Or couldn't remount to r/w. How do I fix this?

Xposed on Fire TV Gen2, can't install CWM, SU broken.

Hi,
I've successfully rooted my FireTV Gen2 and have Kodi installed.
I want to install Xposed but the official version does not support SDK 22 or Arm64.
There is an unofficial version of xposed which works on SDK22 and Arm64 but it is a zip file flashed via recovery.
I am currently on version 5.0.4 and have tried installing CWM but could only find one guide.
I run into an issue immediately when i try chmod the cache folder:
"Unable to open /cache: Is a directory"
No **** it's a directory lol.
I've power cycled several times which hasn't helped. I can't downgrade either because SU isn't working properly.
The device is actually functioning fine and the first time I ran SU in shell the FireTV prompted me to grant.
So can anyone please tell me what the **** is going on?

Click to collapse
Well there is no CWM for the firetv2... so there's that problem. And there is also nothing to downgrade to...
I am currently working on recovery for the firetv2 and will release it soon.
