I replaced the touch screen and LCD today and I am not sure what is wrong with it. It powers up fine but there are streaks up and down the screen where the LG logo is during the power up screen. After it starts up the screen gets whiter and whiter. Turn it back off and then on again and it looks normal, and then after about 4 seconds starts to get lighter and lighter until about 12 seconds in everything is very white and washed out, almost unusable. Touch screen works fine and then if i turn the screen off and on again the same thing happens.
Did I get a bad LCD? Could this be from a bad connection? Help
Try bad connection first. Mine did some thing till a reconnect

Not sure if LCD's are different but a buddy of mines just replaced his screen and screen shows nothing, no image at all just sound. He took it to a pro shop instead to see if perhaps something got damage in the process. Hope is that and not the screen itself

Twice in the last couple of weeks I have had the screen flicker when I turn it on, turning it off then back on again has sorted it out both times.
I am hoping it is either down to some CM autobrightness thing, or under/overclocking...or both.
Unless anyone thinks this is the start of my screen dying?
Any input would be great
what do you mean by flicker? a slight flicker of the backlight? and by slight, i mean realllyyy slight
Nah its a full on flicker as in you can't use the phone like it.
I know when the forums started some people, like 2, were saying when they set their brightness setting to the lowest setting it would flicker. I suppose they returned it.
my brothers phone is doing that right now
I've had mine flicker about 5 times in the last four days. The screen semi locks and jumps up and down a little in a juddery way. When i try to scroll it works hap hazardly. Turning the screen off and on sorts it out. Not sure why it does this but it only started at the start of this week.

Had this happen to me on a reboot today right as the cm logo was fixing to come up. It was only for a split second, like scribbled green flicker. It was after I updated to 6.1.1

Mine does it all the time when the screen auto dims.
That was right out of the box stock.
ok good to know I am not the only one, I will keep an eye on it but I do think it might be to do with autobrightness
Got a screen protector on? Maybe the thickness/quality of screen protector could be an factor?

Do the options in Cyanogen Settings,.. UI,.. Auto Backlight,.. Filter thing not sort anything for you?

I had the same thing happen and I just returned it from walmart and got a new one.
I can confirm that some phones do have a screen issue where the backlight flickers at certain brightnesses. Mine does it when at lower ones. Stock rom, etc, doesn't matter.
I also have battery issues (45 mins with screen on at 20% brightness will kill the battery).
I am having mine replaced today.
Replaced my phone, no more flicker, and it seems like the battery lasts twice as long now. Very happy so far
Ok heres my problem...i replaced my cracked screen with a new one, but when I turned the phone back on my screen is now a very low resolution..i thought I got a bad screen, so I pluged back in the cracked screen and now it has an extremely resolution now too. Can anybody tell me why this is happening? Thanks.

okay so sometimes my G2's screen will have spots in the screen where the color and outline of whatever is on the screen on fuzzy blue and red, i would show you but whenever i use shootme to capture my screen it shows up normal. whenever i slide the screen open it gets worse, so ill get lucky when the screen finally goes back to normal sometimes. but i got used to it and now sometimes the screen will flicker and shut off. i cant even get into recovery or the bootloader because of the screen problem. its becoming quite annoying, is there anyway i can replace the screen? or how could i go about getting the top part of the phone replaces as i believe its a problem with the connecting ribbon inbetween the two halves of the phone? bleh
Help would be greatly appriciated

Sounds like the ribbon cable between the screen and the keyboard may be damaged.

yea thats what i was thinking, it seems like the most obvious choice. everytime i google replacemnt screen ribbons all i can find is camera and keyboard ribbons or something. do you know anything? im think my upgrade is soon and G2xs are free so im just gonna get one of those, they any good compared to the G2?
A relative of mine also owns a G2 but recently they experienced a weird issue. They just picked up the phone just to see that the screen went bad. Wasn't in the process of flashing anything. The phone ran CM7.0.2 for the longest time. It was all black with a white line running across the screen and the capacitive buttons are stilll lit. After a week or so, the white line disappeared and its just a black screen now.
There's no water damage as it went nowhere near water and the water damage indicator is still white. Could the screen be broken? A loose connector? Any help?

I don't know much about the g2 but try and enter the bootloaders. If they come up then its programming. Something like that happened to my hd2 cuz a bad flash.
If they don't then its prob the screen.

You think just ordering a new screen from Amazon or eBay and replacing it will do trick? And yeah I just thought about bootloader as I wrote the question.

if it ran a long time i would guess a hardware failure (if it doesnt even show up bootloader)
so you need to replace the display.
does the display even initialize when powering up the phone?
when switching the phone on you see its "switching" from black to dark gray (lighter black as it is when powered off)
cause if it doesnt even get power, it could be something on the phone too which doesnt give (enough?) power to the display...
Yeah. but I'd take it apart if u know how just to check

Try to connect with adb just to make sure your phone is still working before you spend money on a screen. Unless it rings when you call it or something.

I just replaced my screen and digitizer, fairly simple and straight forward.
On bottling up the first time with the new screen the phone powered up and was green. Looked like night vision. I powered it down, opened it back up hoping I goofed a connection. There are only two connections to make so I undid and redid. Fired back up the phone and it booted almost normal, it started green but then faded back to normal. On any subsequent display off and back on it will start green and then go normal. The longer the display is off the Longer it takes fr the green to fade away.
So my question is, did I get a bad replacement or did I good something up? I waited 3 weeks for this to come from China and at $150 I don't want to just run out and get another one.
Thoughts?

I have had the exact same thing happening to me. I have tried basically everything on the software side, going back and forth between rom/radio/kernel/bootloader with no luck. Tested the screen with a color tuner and it appears that there are no RED as of the RGB. So i have concluded this to be a faulty screen.
I am planning on doing a second screen replacement, so just hold on and i will post you with an update of how it went. Ordered the screen today, so guessing it will arrive in two weeks time.

The thing with mine is that it turns to normal after 30-40 seconds, as if it has to warm up.

Did you get this green color after a screen replacement? In my case it was a bad screen, so a new replacement did the trick.
