looking to extend the life of my phone for a little bit longer. looking for something super light as far as the rom goes.

I'd like to hear some experiences that everyone is having on how the battery life is on the stock ROM (POST OTA, NOT OVERCLOCKED) vs custom ROMs (Again, NOT overclocked).
I've tried the Virtuous ROM, and as expected the battery life got slurped down like coca-cola! CM6.1 isn't as bad, but still seems to suck the life out of the battery quite a bit faster than stock.
Is everyone seeing similar? What makes the stock ROM so much better on the battery?
My experience was actually quite the opposite. When I switched to CM, my battery life improved by about 20-25%. I have a NAM Desire Z so it was running HTC Sense over Froyo.
Remember that it takes a few days of usage for your battery to 'calibrate' itself to the new ROM. My first two days on CM were really bad, but since then, battery life has improved greatly. Yesterday, after moderate use and 15 hours, I still had 45% of my battery left. With my stock ROM, I would be lucky to get 15 hours of use out of the phone period.
As far as overclocking goes, I haven't seen much of a difference in battery life. Reason is, even though you are overclocked when the screen is on, you can adjust settings to under-clock at other times, saving battery power.
I would recommend trying a Custom ROM for 4-5 days, that will give you a better idea about its battery life. Also, there are lots of settings you can tweak that affect battery life greatly. Widgets, background data, signal strength... SOO many variables in personal usage that battery life is going to fluctuate user to user regardless.
To begin with, I should say I maximize battery life by telling apps to ONLY update when I request it and I freeze AT&T and Samsung bloatware with Titanium Backup. I don't play games. I don't make a lot of phone calls. I keep bluetooth off unless I'm using it.
I tried JB stock rooted when it came out. The battery life was pretty bad even with my usual battery-saving settings, and I tried all the suggestions for preventing battery drain. I finally went back to ICS, which for me has great battery life; I can put it down with 100% and 8 hours later it's only at 97%. I can go all day and be pretty certain I will make it to the end of the work day with at least 40% battery left.
I'd love to switch to JB, but I've looked at various ROM threads and it looks like JB still doesn't have good battery life, certainly nowhere near as good as ICS. My question: have I missed finding a JB ROM that actually does have excellent battery life? I mean REALLY good, not just "good enough".
Thanks for any input on this.
A few months ago I had paranoid rom that was great on batt life. 3% loss from midnight till 6am.
I was blown away that I could use this phone so much and it hardly ever drain batt.
Kept telling me there was an update so I did and battery life went to hell...
Tried some others, Aokp and now liquid smooth. LOVE the Liquid smooth, but 25% over night is un-acceptable. this thing on the last few roms is constantly needing charged.
I tried restoring that one version of paranoid, but just wasnt the same.
so curious on suggestions on a better ROM or something.
There is no answer to this question. Different people have different preferences and experiences. If there was a ROM that was clearly better than the others, almost everyone would likely be running it.
Your best bet is to find out why your battery is draining. Use something like Better Battery Stats to figure out what apps may be draining your battery. Perhaps it is an app or two that is synchronizing a lot. Perhaps there are wakelocks.
Alternatively, it could also be hardware. Perhaps the battery is dying. Perhaps the USB port is having issues, and it wakes the device/screen up from time to time.
thanks cup... i just wiped and put that old one back on... will check it tonight. then ill put that better batts stats on.

You may want to start with trying a different kernel and see if that helps.

Hey folks,
Quite a simple one really. Got a G3 today and I'm quite impressed with it. I got it as a spare phone to delve into other areas of Android rather than sticking to Samsung and I'm actually considering making this my daily driver however one things holding me back and its the sheer amount of time the thing takes to charge.
With my S4 and S5 there are kernels that enabled a degree of faster Charging through upping the amps that he phone pulled. I'm struggling to find a solution to this with this phone.
Is it possible at all? I've ran into the CTT(?) and installed it, but it's still hella slow.. battery section quoting 10+ hours till full despite Ampere reporting a 2400mAh pull.
The phones running Fulmics ROM at the moment.
Cheers for any help folks.
I have the sm-t700, it is a great old tablet but the battery drain if terrible. I have tried the newest stock room along with the most current lineage and resurrection rooms. I haven't noticed much difference. Does anyone use one of the older rooms? What does everyone think the best room is for battery life?
If you have so terrible drain, you must look for battery replacement. Stock ROMs will drain your battery even more. Also, look carefully if you use apps preventing your tab from proper deep sleep.
I just ordered a replacement battery, haven't had to replace a tablet battery in years

The best rom is to buy a battery. I recommend Newpower 99, I myself bought one and the result is new tablet ... 8,9, 10 hours of easy screen
Custom ROM e.g Resurrection Remix based on Lineage OS! LJ
