touchscreen below statusbar not responding - Sprint LG G2

Hi guys,i just exchanged my note 3 with a g2 .it was a sprint carrier unlocked .The model number is ls980.the problem is that there is a part of screen that does not register touches.its just below the status bar.this is a huge problem for me,and the guy with whom i exchanged just disappeared.can this be solved??.also the phone does not turn on via knock on.it turn off well, but it never unlocks via knock on.so everytime i have to reach to the button on the back.
I am hoping this is a software issue and can be solved by me itself. And btw my phone is on 4.4.2

Seems to be a hardware issue.

its sounds like you damage your digitizer... you need to replace you digitizer....

Just got my screen working again!
I had the dead spot about an inch below the top (band was about 1/2"). Knock on stopped working too.
Fix For Me:
Since Sprint doesn't have the update touchscreen driver,
Goto: Device Test-->Individual Item-->Touch Draw Test - Auto
Draw the outline as close as you can (notice the touch screen works everywhere!) then press your power button.
It will ask you PASS FAIL - SELECT PASS! (trying again if only Fail - but it worked on fail too for me)
NEXT:
5689#*980# (From Dialer)
Goto: Device Test-->Individual Item-->Touch Draw Test - Manual
Draw the outline as close as you can (notice the touch screen works everywhere!) then press your power button.
It will ask you PASS RETRY FAIL - SELECT PASS!
Exit, your touchscreen should be responding now that was previously dead.

N7100 lockscreen unlock issue

Hi everyone. I have problem on my phone with unlocking the screen. sometimes i cant unlock the screen because the touchscreen doesnot works. but S pen works.. it ussually becomes after 10-20 minutes phone using.. If someone has the same problem please share, and if you can helpme with this issue. Thanks. Sorry for bad English
Hi, I have the same issues. My phone does not recognize touch when it is cold. When it was in the pocket outside or facing a table. 2-3 times turning on and off the screen brings it back working.
I read an article from Sprint that there are protector foil issues with the capacitive display, but I don't have any.

Hi, I guess I have the same issue. Bought the Note II a week ago, came with 4.1.1 and it automatically updated itself to 4.1.2, so don't know if this problem was present with 4.1.1
When I press the power button to lock the screen and wait about 10 minutes, the screen becomes unresponsive, no tap or swipe works. Have tried swipe, pattern, pin for unlocking, result is always the same.
Strangely, at that unresponsive state, the S-pen works and I can unlock and do other things. At that state, touching with the fingers still doesn't work.
The only way to return the screen back to normal is, press the power button again (sometimes need to press the power button twice).
Have done factory reset, the problem is still there with both Sim card and SD card removed.
Has any one found a solution, is this related with 4.1.2 upgrade or a hardware fault ?
Thx in advance,
Regards
I have sent mine for repair. It is a pity that Samsung does not do an exchange.
It is a hardware fault for sure. I made a video to demonstrate the behaviour.

[Q] Bottom half of screen not responsive

Hello,
I'm having a problem with my Arc regarding the touch screen, the bottom part of the screen, where usually the icons and slide bar to unlock are is not working, tapping or sliding on it doesn't work. I was using CM10 originally and I tried flashing a stock firmware to double check whether it is the ROM's problem, but now i'm stuck at the setup wizard because I cannot click on the next button.
I went through the whole wizard once by accident and went into the service test for touch screen, the bottom part of the screen totally cannot be detected at all.
Can I ask that if I need to get one of phone part replaced (because my warrantly ran out), which part should I replace?
Thanks
Sry mate but i think it could be screen problem, the best thing you can do is to send it to service repair and see what they think of you're issue.I hope you'll get it fix cheep.Good luck

[Q] Can't get past 'set-up' wizard screen

Phone arrive in mail yesterday. Charged phone fully. Turned phone on. Lots of voice activations on the set-up wizard screen. I try to pick a language from the drop-down screen and it just highlights it with green dashed lines and the voice activation says 'english'. That's it. I try to hit the next arrow for the next step and it keeps telling me the time. I mean I'm no expert by any means but I'm also no rookie when it comes to turning a phone on for the first time. This is really weird. I can't get past this screen. Tried fully shutdown and start back up. Same thing. Mind you I haven't put a sim card in yet but I didn't think that would matter as I was going to use wifi to set it up anyways. I can't even turn the phone off by touching on screen either. I have to long press the power button to turn it off as the touch screen doesn't seem to work. Anyone have issues with this? It's very disheartening coming straight out of the box...

I got past the screen but I had to 'double-tap' (and by double tap i mean like 4-5 taps sometimes) the next arrow. I have to do this at every screen until it gets to the log into gmail screen. I try to type my email in by double tapping each letter but this doesn't work. Now I have no idea what to do.
I had the same thing happen to me yesterday and figured it out.
If you have not figured it out let me know I can help.
mine arrived same problem

I'm having this same issue as you. Mine just arrived today. It seems likely they put a recent image on these that may have something missing off broken on it. The models before them seem to not have this problem. Worst is you can really fix it or get past it since its the initial setup. What to do now? Send it back?
Flash a new image?

TalkBack may be enabled. If this setting is enabled, there will be voice prompts to every action made. Also the touch screen may behave differently and appear to be defective. Instead of one tap to open an item it will require tapping once to highlight then double tap to open. Also when swiping it may require using two fingers instead of one. To disable go to Apps/Settings/Accessibility/Talkback - turn off.

Thanks! This worked. I found someone else online who had the same issue and that's exactly what happened to him. I just used 2 fingers to click through the setup wizard and then finally was able to go into settings and turn TalkBack off. This was very annoying right out of the package. Hope this helps someone else.
Could any of you please kindly send me a private message with the model, serial number, and if purchased in the USA? We are trying determine which units have been distributed with TalkBack feature enabled.
Thank you,

I had someone that had this happen at the Intel pre-Google IO event Wednesday night. If you don't want to go through the full setup -
1). Turn the phone off
2). Hold volume up + Power
3). Use the volume down button to highlight recovery
4). Press power button to select, it'll show an erroring Android screen now
5). Press volume up + power again (might take a few times before the recovery menu is available
6). Wipe user data and reset. It'll take a few minutes but it'll save you from having to deal with talkback
Thanks so much for this thread. Just got mine and am in Nicaragua and have no way to send it back to Amazon and was gonna flip the **** out.

Same issue on mine. Purchased via Amazon. PM you the info...
Same issue- purchased from Amazon
I had the same issue when I received my phone this morning. I couldn't get it to work even after following the instructions to power it off and then power on + volume up. I am returning it to Amazon for a replacement. If I have the same issue with the replacement, I'll just return it. There's no way I'm paying $200 for a brand new phone to have it not even work upon taking it out of the box.
I just received my telephone today... After spending 20 minutes to pass the wizard guide (as i had to tap over 10 times to pass a single step), I cant even unlock my screen. Im from Bulgaria, there is no way I will send back the phone to Amazon. Its just not financially possible for me. I dont know what to do. A brand new phone...
i just bought an asus zenfone 2 from amazon and the same talkback is happening.

Push power button when you see the android with eroor under it and press up volume, you might need to dothis a couple of time but be aware that if you do it too fast you can go to recovery then jump back out just as quickly.
Holding power for more than 8 seconds will result in a reset.
Hi, Just bought the Asus ZenFone 2 , I cant pass the Welcome screen its talk back feature is on Pls Help. Thanks
This is 4/30/16. I just got my screen replaced on my ASUS ZenPad 8 inch 580. Same problem happened with Talkback to me. I followed the instuctions from the guy who said tap twice on the buttons. I had to sometimes do this many times, but I got through to the tablet settings to turn Talkback off even before settig up Google and other apps, I just connected to my wifi, then went next until the home screen could be opened, then settings symbol, then accessibility, then turned off Talkback. Boy was I happy. Maybe I got an old LCD and screen? Dont know why it happened so much later than you people in 2015. from:[email protected]

Touchscreen not responding!

My phone is stuck at homescreen (pattern lock) and it only responds to the double tap knock screen on. I tried to draw pattern, tap on emergency call, camera on lock screen and nothing gets registered on touch, except for knock screen on taps when screen gets timeout. The double tap is recognized easily anywhere on the screen. I pulled out battery several times and restarted but same issue. I have also refreshed my stock firmware via LGUP Tool but didn't help.
Basically, my touch is only responding to the knock on tap. Nothing else. I turned camera on via volume down button but touch doesn't work there too. What could be the issue? If the double tap is being registered anywhere on the screen easily why is not registering my touch after screen on!?. Please help!

Since no ones answering.
Not a solution or fix.
But have u dropped it. Or anything like that. Had screen replaced.
Seen it happen on the note 5s. Sometimes the flex cable for the lcd can become partially dislodged. Enough for touch not to work. One users only was responding to only 2 touches u till flex was pressed back in. Try usin lg flashtool. Method. Set to board dl and itll take u to the minios where it does a touch screen calibration
Again prob not case. But ive seen it happen
Possibly digitizer failure. But knockon working is weird

Can you please explain the "Set to board dl and itll take u to the minios where it does a touch screen calibration " in a noob friendly way, there are a lot of lg flash tools I see. Also, no, I haven't dropped the phone or any water damage. It just stopped responding suddenly. Knock is responding smoothly anywhere on the screen. I have flashed the rom to stock, same issue.

I use the same lg flashtool as lg g2 and 3. Older version. On main menu of flashtool u have a few options upgrade. And board dl. If u leave it. It takes u to the old factory reset status 2. And stays there if u set to board dl its gives fac status 3 and boots what is called mini os. First thing u have to do is touch the screen for a calibration test. Its required before mini os finishes booting. Then reboot as normal. Its kinda hard to explain. Its how i reflash stock firmware back from the g2.
Its always worked so ive never upgraded method across 3 phones.
U might look in restoring stock lg g2 flashtool. And replace with g4 .tot and .dll
Also have to set in device manager set to port 41. When in dl mode
