So far installed the update.zip that was posted in the Note II - the 4.4.2 update - discussion thread. So far, I'm loving it. I think it's much smoother, and feels like it breathed new life into my Note II. For a bit, it felt like it was kinda stagnating. Anyway, I wanted to start a thread on what you guys think on it, and wondering if anyone's found any easter eggs or new features? As for me, it looks pretty much the same, but feels much snappier and polished. Def feel it's much more polished. Anyone with thoughts?
It does feel snappier and looks more polished. But I took the update mainly for radio updates. I went right back to PA with plasma kernel. It looks better and the audio quality is amazing with viper4android plus kernel mods, compared to stock touchwiz. To each his own either way , at least we got an update.

Just a simple stock looking rom that enhances battery and has some extra features without being crazy themed or causing other issues?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1664612
How much better can the battery be?
screenshots?
maybe check out the Jedi roms, it's not crazy themed, although tweaked a bit from what I read, but fairly kept stock debloated. Read the forums and reviews, I think you may find what you are looking for.
Main thing is a rom that is pretty issue free, I've run a lot and most tweaked roms have issues. The rom I linked too keeps it pretty issue free by just trying to be better than stock but not wild, guess the note 2 doesn't have anything Like that yet
Hi,
Was reading one post on PA G+ thread and this thought came to my mind, does the major roms comprise with the Project Butter feel of nexus?
Dont crucify me yet. Have been on PA since last 7 months but last week went back to stock rom of 4.2.2,rooted.
Loved all the good work they do, including others but do feel the buttery smoothness of stock is lost in custom roms.
Do you feel the same?
Just a friendly discussion.
Cheers,
Roy

Hmmm.. I think it's because of... A lot more customization than stock. A lot more - in some cases - going on under the hood.
But anyways, custom ROMs are meant to outperform stock right?
Bottom line.. It's your call. Stock or custom.
Edit: this should be on General section. Not a troubleshooting issue, but personal experience/discussion.

For me, custom roms are smoother than stock. Could be the fact that I use speed tweaks though.
I'm currently on PA 3.15 and so far it feels better than stock. But then again my update to 4.2.2 really slowed down my phone, so it very well could be a placebo effect. Either way, it's really smooth and rarely lags/slows down.
Any thoughts on 4.3?
I personally feel it a bit sluggish. Scrolling seems to lag behind. Other than that the new multi-window drag feature is pretty awesome.
already a thread for this use it...
I'd love to see comparison between n2 and n3 after 4.3 update

Hey guys, the poll is intended for those who have already flashed the 4.4.2 bootloader already, but comments from anyone on the subject are welcome. Overall, are you glad that you upgraded, or do you wish that you held off until the custom ROMs were a bit more mature? What specific advantages / disadvantages are you seeing vs. 4.3 and what Kit Kat ROM are kernel are you running?
I really like my current combo of Tweaked 4.3, the last Saber kernel, topped off with Wally's Paperkut theme. However, I've been seeing an increasing amount of appealing 4.4.2 ROMs and have been thinking about crossing the point (bootloader) of no return. I've also been seeing a big drop in the amount of complaints about the update, so it appears that most kinks are being irroned out.
So what do you all think? I should note that I'm super-dependent on wifi calling, so I'm limited to the T-mobile base, unfortunately. Some emphasis on NB4 based ROMs would be cool, but feel free to share any T-mobile Note 3 update experience.
I haven't seen any difference ... I will have to google to see what "features" I gained. I didn't like the ability to not be able to write to the SD card, but that's been fixed. And yes, finding a custom ROM isn't the easiest task ever!
I waited until the easy upgrade, root, sd card fix was out, and then did it. I'm super happy I did. The phone overall runs smoother, and takes less resources thanks to the KK OS. The only real thing I noticed was the all white icons, and the rounded toast notifications. I'm happy with the stock ROM since I use a lot of Samsung/TW apps especially the Hub, TV remote, and WhatsOn app, so I'm not looking for an alternate ROM, and plus I also use Xposed to get any features I want/need that the stock ROM doesn't have, so yeah, it's been a great upgrade for me.
I guess upgrade is better than no upgrade. I just didn't like the fact that to root is to trigger the stupid Knox warranty with kkos. But I can not go a full day with an unrooted phone so I root Knox can kiss me bye.

Thanks for all of the feedback. I'm definitely glad I've held off on flashing 4.4.2. I just noticed that Jedi has been bumped up to 1.1, so I'm reading through the thread and might end up Odin-ing up to Kit Kat, or might continue to wait. I've never tried a Jedi ROM, but have found Saber kernel to run best on my device, so I'm kind of tempted to check it out for a while until Tweaked 4.4.2 is released.
Wish there was a way to import my Apex Pro homescreens across ROMs. I think that might be added to Nandroid Manager Pro, but isn't there yet... takes me forever to set up my screens, which is kind of a deterrent in itself from upgrading.
Anyways, any more experience with custom ROMs? Thanks again for the feedback so far.
Voted against, battery life took a dumpsky.
Forgot to mention, what a disappointment that the rounder toasts are the only visual difference. I actually use an Xposed module that backports the new toast style because I like it better. I think it's more congruent with my theme, Paperkut by Wally. I really dig his Kit Kat theme so I actually would have some visual differences but that's really lame as far as the stock update is concerned.

English would be nice
I regret it a lot!
My battery drains a lot faster than before.
Anyone else experiencing that kind of issue?
After spending two weeks of troubleshooting hell with 3 different note 3s from T-Mobile all due to kitkat crap, guess my answer?
I love it, battery life is insanely doubled.. Just need more tmobile roms to choose from.. Running International right now

Simple upgrade, no real problems so far.
Hey,
I've been searching but all the information is quite old (1+ year).
I am looking for the ''best'' rom. Best as better than stock (better performance, better battery life, memory management, etc.) It's subjective but I am not looking for one in particular just your impression of what you would use and why.
Also if you have a great up to date link, that would be enough too
I'm a huge fan of Spirit Rom. I've used quite a few, and still keep coming back to it. Good battery life and plenty of customizations to make your phone feel fresh and new again
You won't find many best Rom threads because they are frowned upon. Most end up being closed because they turn into fan fest and trolling nightmares.
Best is an opinion so as the old saying goes an opinion is like a belly button everyone has one.
We will leave this open and see how it goes, if it becomes a problem thread those causing problems will be handled and thread will be closed.
Keep it all cool in here.

Have a great day! from my LG G3
Thanks for the suggestion, I am trying it now. Still trying to figure out how to back-up then I will install. Would be great to have extra suggestions to try more than one custom rom!
I am using Liquid Smooth rom and it runs very fast and smooth. Kitkat 4.4.4.
You can't go wrong with this one IMO. Pretty much stock Lollipop, runs very smooth, battery life is great, and has super active devs. Only thing bugged is the camera, but it still works with Play Store apps and apparently the issue will be fixed soon.
