I didn't have a brightness adjustment in my notification before. just had a volume slider. (Came like that when I reset the phone)
This morning I changed the build target to TMO so I could get the 4G icon and I'm greeted with the brightness toggle in my notification. How can I disable this? I use lux lite so this is useless. I have seen that it involves a root app to disable but isn't there a setting by LG to disable it? Because I didn't have it before...

Is this only on certain launchers? Which ones have it?

any launcher.. just turn off automatic brightness.
If you turn off auto brightness, you can control the brightness by swiping left and right on the notification bar
On froyo I had to disable power saving mode under settings>display. Then the brightness setting on the power bar started to work for me.
Thx for the info

Still doesn't work for me
Can somebody put a screen shot of where I should swipe
Thx in advance

It's pretty much impossible to show in screenshot form since it would only show the screen itself not the swiped area, but the easiest explanation is to just touch the upper area enough for the beginning of the bar to come down then swipe either left for dimmer or right for brighter

Screen Brightness: I have set the screen brightness to medium and and timeout to 60 seconds. I have started to notice that it will change the settings on its own. I will notice the screen is dim then look at the brightness setting and it will be set to minimum. Another thing that is driving me crazy is that it will dim the screen if you don't touch it regardless of the screen time out.
I have also noticed that sometimes when typing the screen does not follow were the words are going.
Other than these two minor pet peeves I absolutely love this phone. If it had a vag it may replace my wife.
The screen dimming is probably done by u. If u run your hand back and forth at the bottom of the notification bar it will change your brightness. Auto brightness has to be off. Its a cool feature that the original epic had.

u might want to disable the "power saving mode"... i had the same issue as u, but it seems to be fine since i disabled power saving mode
That's the thing I have my settings to auto brightness off
Edit: I will try turning the power saving mode off
Did not know that about the notification bar dimming the screen that's a cool feature.

Thanks I bet the notification bar might be it. That is awesome, I can't believe I didn't know that yet.
IF your in the internet browser that came with the phone and you turn up your brightness all the way and then you notice while your look at page all of a sudden your brightness will go back down to like 10% I found out the culprit.
the browser has a BROWSER BRIGHTNESS option in the menu. you can turn auto on or theres another slider there and it appears factory setting is all the way left or lowest.
this was pissing me off today while I was waking in the sun, I thought I had my brightness on all the way but with in 5 seconds while look here on XDA, the brightness kept going back down on its own and I do not have auto on. the thing I was doing to get it back up bright again was to do the notification swipe to the right and that would only temporary fix it.
Hello,
Whenever I use the default internet browser on my Note 2 (i317M Telus) the screen dims to the lowest setting. It stays like this even though I haven't touched the brightness setting. I can change the brightness setting but when I exit the internet app the brightness changes to what it should be. Any ideas on how to fix this problem? Thank you.
inb4 install a different browser
inb3 OP can't inb4
There is a separate brightness toggle in the browser for some reason. Just hit menu then brightness.
For me it uses the same "brightness" setting, but when I change the brightness in browser it changes it for the rest of the phone.
Make sure "power saving mode" isn't enabled. It defaults the browser to extremely dim. You can of course, turn that option off

Hi All,
Is there anyway to adjust the 4 brightness levels of the brightness toggle? One of my toggles is set to 0 or 1. My baby was playing with my phone and the screen went black. I thought he had screwed my phone so I ended up LNGPST back to ZVC. Didn't help. Couldn't figure it out. Finally, I tilted my phone at a certain angle and could just barely see an outline of a box. I realized the brightness was all the way down. Unfortunately, I couldn't see enough to turn it back up (even in pitch black room) but I pulled down the notification area and haphazardly was clicking on the screen until it turned up.
Anyways, I would like to adjust the minimum brightness toggle so I don't have to do that again. Any ideas?
Thanks!
Are you using stock?

On my LG G3 it seems to have adaptive brightness that cant be disabled. When I open an app the screen will kinda of of pop to a lower brightness after a second. I have auto brightness disabled. Ive seen this on other phones but it gave me an option to disable it. Is there any way to disable this using root by editing a build prop file or other file?
This is an extreme example of what im talking about
