Try just downloading build.prop editor from the play store and change ro.build.target_operator to OPEN. Restart and see if it picks up data (You will probably have to add your APN using Tweakker app). If it does you're in luck and just change it to "spr" to prevent systemui crashes. This works in Canada.
If not, you have to follow one of these threads...

Yeah spr will stop the ui crashes. I'm not sure if you can go direct to spr, you can try that though

I can't do anything on the phone to get to spr, it crashes to often, can I do it through PC?

I've had it crash a bunch of times, but eventually they stopped and then I could go into the editor, just need to be patient.
Here's a guide for doing it on PC if you really need to:

Ok, i know you mean well, but you two need to just stop.
Virgin Mobile USA is a CDMA carrier (owned by Sprint actually), not GSM, and as such any phone you want to use on their network has to have the ESN in their database. So unless you're attempting to dabble into ESN flashing and such, all these build.prop attempts aren't going anywhere. The G2's ESN either needs to be in Virgin Mobile USA's ESN database (which it is not, it's not a phone they carry) or you're going to have to look into flashing it over (not a likely possibility).

Virgin in USA is CDMA? Thanks for the info! Yeah this is a waste of time then.
Dobby0 were you able to get into the build.prop editor again? You might as well change it back to SPR. Sorry, didn't realize you were working with a CDMA network. This works in Canada but will not work for you.

It's a good phone, but no phone can jump on a CDMA network like they can on GSM.

Flash for Verizon?

I'm sorry if this is in the forum somewhere but I couldn't fine it. Is there a way to flash a LS970 to verizon? Not 4g since I am not going to solder on a sim tray but for just 3g service?
You might be able to get it to work on page plus but certainly not Verizon without doing something illegal I think. Search around, I'm sure you'll find your answer
Sent from my LG-LS970 using xda premium
I have a question that goes along with this. I've been told the steps to flash this to different carrier is the same as the other optimus,is that true?

No one has an answer ?
Sent from my LG-LS970 using Tapatalk 2
I'm guessing you can ESN Swap, Or "ESN Clone" with an active Verizon phone. But Verizon LTE operates on the 700mhz Spectrum, This phone is programmed only for 1900mhz LTE.
I dont care about verizon or page plus or who ever...
I just would like to learn how so when and if the time comes i put this to rest i can flash it to something else and dump it off....

Build.Prop edit to Make Google Wallet Work

If you want to force the Google Play version of Google Wallet to work here is all you have to do.
Edit your /system/build.prop file and find the line that says ro.product.device and change the value from ls970 or whatever your phone's value says to say maguro. Reboot your phone and make sure to clear Google wallets data before opening. It should then grant you access.
Edit: It has come to my attention that not only does the cell your on need to be forced to cover this app but your cell network must already provide coverage for this service. Granted your cell network allows Google Wallet, you should have success with this method.
Sent from my LG-LS970 using Tapatalk 4
The importance of this BTW is paying with NFC for those who feel left out.
Sent from my LG-LS970 using Tapatalk 4
Unfortunately for me and my e971 this did not work. Glad to hear at least the LS970 users are getting some use out of it...
(I've tried editing build.prop and the MoDaCo Toolkit, nothing works. Oh well ).
Did you clear the app data and reboot? Vital steps

I did. I've tried before and couldn't get it working then either. It always just hangs on "Setting up Wallet, this may take up to 5 minutes". 15 minutes of waiting yields nothing.

Try it on WiFi. If you got to that screen you were successful. And yeah setup can take a while
Sent from my LG-LS970 using Tapatalk 4
I think its probably need some special DRM-like keys.
In other words, wont work if the phone is not from sprint or at&t.
Something similar in korea, you cant use nfc payments unless you running stock rom.
Ahh very true. It only works on certain cell networks. But if you have the right cell network and wrong phone this will set you up regardless of ROM. One thing that custom ROMs can do to change coverage of this app like mention before this is to change the device name, seeing as that is what Google Wallet verifies.

Thank you for the information.
However Build.Prop file edits are not really development. And definitely not original development.
This edit has been talked about all over XDA device forums.
Thread has been moved to the general section.

Sent from my LG-LS970 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Neither. It's the Canadian model from Rogers, AKA E971.
EDIT: Of course, I'd be using Market Enabler, as it wouldn't work with my current Network provider. I just need (want, really) to know if the new versions of wallet will allow this, or (since the new Wallet can be installed on all phones) if I could just use Market Enabler to make this work now.
Nope only those networks support it
Sent from my LG-LS970 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Hmm, Ok.
I was able to use Wallet with Market Enabler on my Galaxy Nexus, also on Rogers. Just for knowledge, what is the difference between the two phones that won't let it work?

I read recently its caused by a check for a secure element for wallet purchases on your network. If you have the SE on your SIM instead of built in to the phone there are methods of making that work i believe. If you want to try something else then change the model and network provider in that file also. Ive heard of it working.

Flashed Htc One ?

I am wondering if a sprint Htc One flashed to verizon would get as good of a signal and a verizon branded One?
Most likely not. Different carriers run on different frequencies.

But if they run off the same tri-band cdma freq. , or for example sprint run 800 and verizon run say 805 ?

.... That sounds wrong... Maybe their postpaid is different. From what I understand not only are the frequencies different version must sign off on every phone on their network...
After some research I've seen both sides being positive they are right. One constant though is that Verizon must sign off on every phone in their network. Perhaps their post paid works differently.... Or maybe I'm wrong

I used to run a Sprint HTC Touch Pro on the Verizon network.
I ported it over, but that was years ago.
Both 1x voice and evdo/3g worked fine.
Was a bit trickier to get 3g then it was the 1x but lte certainly won't work on a Sprint on Verizon.
I certainly wouldn't go buy one from Sprint though planning on getting the ESN to get passed by their checks.
That's all I will say about that aspect.

I'm not sure about sprint but the vzw one is global which means ANY network will work, but you won't get better data . I just popped a metro pcs Sim in my DNA and my son is using it with no issues except weak data .

just because a phone is global doesn't mean it will work on all networks. there are too many possible bands to acct for. You would need several radios, which would eat battery.
"Global" phones will work on the most popular bands.
As far as LTE, there is not a chip that has all the US bands.

[Q] help with galaxy s4 not registered to network

gf reported her phone lost because it was cracked, samsung sent her a new one so now i want her old one. I put in my sim card but it says "Not register to network" im thinking maybe t-mobile blocked the phone somehow since it was reported lost but I figured there was a work around. Friend told me unlocking the phone and setting it to international radios may help but i have no idea how to do this since im new to the android community. Switching from iphone to android! So yeah, please help!
White T-mobile Galaxy S4 on jellybean, updating it to kitkat though.
Yup, T-Mobile blocked it.. There's no legal way around it, maybe your gf calling T-Mobile to unblock it, but they'll probably charge her full price for the one they sent her.. You could try using a different carrier, but it could end up being blocked again.. You could also sell it to someone in another country, blacklist won't go past the US

international radios, gonna unlock the sim. My gfs mom is probably going out of the country so if i unlocked it, she could use it outside the US right?and if she can i take it as she'd have to use a carrier other than t-mobile to do this though?
You can't use international radios.. And I don't know, but I would think so, using a local carrier should be fine

There are services that will fix this for you. I payed 35$ for my blocked tmobile s4 to be repaired.
I did this with an HTC EVO 3D. It was locked for 2 years so I flashed the phone to a different carrier and it worked. You might have problems with different features but it is posibble to still use the phone. Find a cellular store that will flash it. They normally charge around 50 dollars, give or take.

Sounds to me like you are asking us to help you and your girlfriend commit fraud. No thanks.

So does unlocking make service possible on CDMA carriers?

I've been getting mixed reports from my search through this forum on whether unlocking a Sprint Note 4 will allow me to use the phone on another US CDMA carrier, specifically boost mobile. Some people have said it flat out won't work, others have said it will work on 3G.
Boost Mobile used to support the Sprint Note 4 for a carrier switch that they would do themselves, but apparently they don't do this anymore.
