[Q] Issues with Airvana and AOSP ROMS - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

Here lately when I get home, cannot force phone to connect to Airvana at all, unless I flash back to TW based rom, then update prl, then flash back to open sourced ROM. Anyone else have this issue? I am on nd8 modem, only thing I haven't tried is flashing previous modem.

problem seems fixed with mk3 radio flash from ND8.

For anyone else who comes across this thread, do NOT downgrade your modem from ND8 if you are on the ND8 bootloader. The OP must have flashed just the ND8 Modem only for the short time it was available, so this was possible for him but won't be an option for most.
Thank you. That is all.

[Q] On M919UVUAMDB. What are my options?

Hi Guys. I got my T-Mobile Galaxy S4 in May of last year. I promptly (as soon as I got home) rooted it. It is on Baseband M919UVUAMDB and I am currently running a December 9 nightly of CM11 (4.4.1) because any newer versions cause an issue with sleep and Wifi. If my phone goes into deep sleep with WIFI on, my screen will completely freeze, requiring a battery pull.
Now I've tried multiple roms running TW based on 4.3 (Guessing they're based on the M919UVUEMK2 OTA), but they all drop data.
Now that M919UVUFNB4 is out, I was wondering what would happen if I flashed to that (waiting for a pre-rooted ROM)?
Will I have the same issues? I love CM, but TW is full of features I like to use and would like to swap back and forth if possible.
What are my options? I no longer have any backups of any stock roms (I do have a 4.2 TW ROM backed up that had NO issues. I believe it was deodexed as well, if that has to do with anything).

The data drops are because you have the MDB modem. If you want to run those 4.3 based ROMs, you need either the hybrid MK2 modem (reversible, knox-free) or the full MK2 modem (not currently reversible, installs knox). The same situation would exist with the MDL modem.
See this thread for instructions to install the hybrid modem: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2546024
I don't know, but I'd guess the situation will be similar with the new KitKat release. To run the new ROMs properly, you'll probably need the newest modem (either a hybrid or full). I'm fairly confident that you'll run into the same issues if you're on MDB, but again, this portion is speculation. MK2 might end up being sufficient, or NB4 might be required. I won't be surprised if a hybrid MDL/NB4 modem pops up soon.

Thank you, exactly the info I was looking for.

Just to be sure, I can run this via ODIN, since it's not MK2, it's MD, right?

I think so, but I'm not 100% sure. It looks like the same deal as the hybrid I've been using, and that I linked in my first response in this thread, just with the NB4 GSM modem and the MDL bootloader instead of the MK2 modem and MDL bootloader.
I never want to be among the first to flash new radios though. I hold off until I see a LOT of success stories and a lot of devs recommending them.

Yeah, it's also the reason I never flash OTAs, and am on such an ancient baseband. Thanks again!

Need help with ROM(s)

Hello XDA, so, i have went through just about 10 ROMs. 2 of them worked but didn't give me signal(MOAR and Wicked Sensation) i have tried to change the baseband but everytime i did it, it just changed back to unknown.(really great roms btw. was playing around with them a lot when i had just wi-fi). Some other ones i have tried were;
Wicked X
Cyanogen
Resurrection Remix
Slimkat
and a few more.
Only one that works and is fully functional is the Stock ND8 ROM. Tried flashing to 4.3 or 4.1 always failed. I have checked the md5 if i had clean downloads for all of them and USB is fully functional and tried on 2 computers and different USB cables. Thanks for the help if there is any.
Okay, just to make sure you don't try changing the baseband again, that's very dangerous once you've been on ND8.
You absolutely cannot downgrade the modem or bootloader once you've Odined the stock ND8 tar.
People have hard bricked their phones trying that.
You need to Odin the stock ND8 tar again to get your modem back.
What recovery have you been using? Philz Recovery is the only recovery that's been confirmed working 100% once you've been on ND8.

ND8 with MK3 modem?

After reading both here and on Sprint's site about all the issues with the modem in the ND8 update, I was wondering if it's possible to flash the MK3 modem once I've flashed ND8 if I have the connectivity issues described elsewhere?
I know it won't fix the battery/GPS issues, but it's a start. Hopefully the 4.4.3 update rumored in the Sprint forums pans out sooner rather than later and addresses these issues.
Once you flash to ND8, you cannot downgrade back to the MK3 bootloader or the MK3 modem. You can install a MK3 Rom or a MK3 nandroid Rom backup. If you are going to need to Odin back to stock, you must use ND8.
I am on ND8 and I do not have any connectivity issues, very good battery and no GPS issues. It all seems to be centered around where you live, what Sprint I'd doing in your area and what other mods you have done (i.e. greenify, comadose, etc.) Hope this helps.

[Q] Returning to stock question

I need to return my phone to stock and it's running 4.4.2, I'm just wondering if I can flash a stock 4.3 rom onto it (L710VPUCMK3)
You can flash any ROM, but you can never Odin anything less than ND8 or you'll hard brick your phone because of Knox in ND8's bootloader.
This is assuming that by 4.4.2 you mean TouchWiz 4.4.2 (ND8), not AOSP/CM. If the latter, it depends on what the last stock ROM you either Odin'd or OTA'd.

Yup I'm on Touchwiz 4.4.2 ND8 basically what I'm trying to do is completely restore phone to stock, flash Moar, MK3 modem, and Phiilz touch recovery and root it. Any help or what order to flash those in?

I going to assume that you want to take phone back to stock AND THEN flash custom recovery and root?
If that's the case:
Flash the nd8 tar ball through ODIN. It will be a fresh install so you'll lose everything (I prefer it that way though)
Verify the phone is working with stock.
Flash the custom recovery ODIN (I recommend latest version of Philz, imho).
Download the zip of supersu (not the app) and the flash that through recovery. Rode warrior can tell you how to use reboot in Philz (didn't seem to work for me though and I'm just used to flashing skin recovery, so that's the way I do it.
Edit: forgot about MOAR. I would then flash moar from custom recovery after doing all the above...

You can't flash the MK3 modem once on ND8. Brick city may happen.
Seen that you wanted to do that.

You're exactly correct.
Now that you're on ND8, you can never downgrade the modem or bootloader.

[Q] WiFi won't turn on after ROM flash s3

I can't find a fix for my s3 anywhere. If I flash back to stock I have WiFi. But once I install a ROM (tried 3) I have no WiFi. I'm on the boost model and this has never happened before and I've flashed many ROMs
Oh and I'm flashing 4.4.4
Thanks
Anyone?
Are you flashing ROMs for the sph-l710 on an sph-l710t? I'm not sure if all boost s3s are, but all I've encountered have been the l710t. If you do have the l710t, try some of these ROMs: http://androidforums.com/threads/boost-mobile-roms-confirmed-working-for-sph-l710t.893701/
