Is there a app/mod to add active display feature to android 4.4? 4.3.1 has given me nothing but grief so I've stayed with CM11, but no option yet added in. Play store version only works 1 put of ten notifications.
Beanstalk 4.4 has Active Display built in:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=48008620&postcount=1253
I had a problem with wi-fi (with an earlier build than what's current) so I am using Beanstalk 4.2.2 with Dynamic Notifications from the Play store, and I like it, but I don't know how it compares to Active Display.
Hello there,
First of all its great to see PA 4+ for our i9305, Thanks to the developers
there are several issues i wanted to tell the i9305 device maintainers of this rom.
- Pie does not show up after enable immersive mode
- Peek is not yet present in the rom i guess, couldnt find it
- Lightbulb is not working (cant enable flash light, gives some error)
I noticed that the good old customizable PA rom is changed a lot. for example we cant add more quick settings tiles in the notification panel
and there are no other settings to customize throughout the rom. its pretty standard from what it looks like. i hope this changes with the further coming development.
overall good job
You will need to take these issues up with your maintainer, in your device section.
Peek is not public source yet, so unless you are running a build done by the PA-Legacy team, you dont get peek at all
for the customizations, read the change log thread, as it literally covers every feature of the rom and how to use it. 'If it isn't in the change log thread, it doesn't exist in the build'

ZMoD is an AOSP-based Android 5.1 ROM focused to bring the most popular features to a clean, AOSP-based ROM.
A bit of history: when 5.1 released, I was impressed by the memory management fixes it brought us - it's a lot better than 5.0 was. Since I use my phone heavily, mostly for texting with multiple apps, it was clear that I couldn't go back to 5.0 anymore - however, there were no feature-filled 5.1 ROMs yet, so an idea popped into my mind: why not create one? This is how the first version of ZMoD born.
Features
- RRO theming support
- screenshots: quick delete action
- configurable wakeup on charger connect
- configurable volume button wake
- advanced reboot
- show application's package name in the "App info" screen
- statusbar clock and date customizations
- option to hide USB debugging icon
- clock and time clickable in statusbar
- battery icon customizations
- alarm clock: increasing volume option
- alarm clock: flip and shake actions
- materialized gallery, calendar, browser and sms (not fully done yet) app
- material default wallpaper
- swipe in AOSP keyboard
Todo
- battery and notification light customizations
Instructions
First time flashing ZMoD to your maguro (or coming from another ROM)?
Unlock & install a recovery
Wipe data & cache partitions
Flash ZMoD.
Optional: Install the Google Apps addon package.
Updating from a previous build?
Just install the latest ROM zip. If you had Google Apps installed, you need to re-flash it as well.

Wow thanks a lot @Ziyan
Nice! Thank you very much, this is just what I have been waiting for...a 5.1 ROM with volume rocker wake support!
Kudos! @ziyan
wow! thanks a lot for making GNEX alive @Ziyan, i'll flash it right away. long live Gnex!:fingers-crossed:
Thanks ... in donwload... tomorrow I try to duty with your kernel ... but it will be a bomb, then I think I will change it to prove my kernel, I think I'll change rom to do the tests to my kernel

Up there's an instruction written by @Ziyan
Bugs?
Bugs
- offmode charging broken
- green bars on the edge of the recorded videos
Thanks alot Ziyan for keeping this phone alive and running. :good:
Just to clarify... Ziyan are those the only bugs you have come across? Are there any other bugs that we should be aware of such as graphical glitches or wifi/data issues bluetooth perhaps? Would this be considered a daily driver? Sorry about all the questions, but I really want to jump to a 5.0 rom 4.4.4 just isn't cutting it anymore. I have all kinds of ram issues all the times, forcing me to reboot my phone on a daily basis. I think this would be the perfect opportunity for me to transition to a lolipop rom, but I would like to know if this rom is stable enough for daily use.

done flashing. so far so good here. bugs presented above is present. but im gonna try use this rom for more days, (as same as othe LP 5.1) but as i remember from my past flsh from other roms., the more you installed apps the more it getting slow and bugs. well so far here i just installed those social media apps and its running good to me, but i couldn't say its that stable but lets just help @Ziyan and give some reports. well im not that fun on CM roms but ill give this a shot coz its the only rom who is willing to support our legacy phone and make it alive again.
This is awesome! Thanks a lot @Ziyan. I've been using your CM11 builds for a long time. But who needs CM when we have you? CM11 is way too laggy for a while - which is by no means your fault! - and all the stories about 5.1 will definitely make me part of your test group. So I'll stop writing now and start downloading.

:good: same here so lets help @Ziyan for this :highfive:
I'm just waiting for the camera bug to be fixed which causes the camera to stop working and requires a reboot to fix it. If that's fixed, I'll be really happy to come back to LP.
i tried front cam video recording ...... sad to say i have to reboot my phone for me to use it again.. hmm.. the main bug of Gnex LP's are the camera if this will be fixed then for sure it could be stable to us Gnex users. is ther a chanve that someone can make a mod for camera and flash it to be more compatible? i mean what if the cam is not LP based. is it that possible? ( sorry for the question im not a developer)
This has been undoubtedly the best ROM I've ever flashed onto my phone. Camera bug or not, the smoothness with which it runs is almost making me doubt this is even the same phone. I am floored. Great job Ziyan and the OMAP team!
Anyone tried bsmitty karnel with this rom..?
#17
how to get root access ?
This ROM is very nice so far. It's still downloading and installing my apps which obviously takes more time since LP.
The ROM feels quite snappy, at least a bit more than recent CM11 builds. I am missing a few features such as privacy guard and quick switch between apps by pressing and holding the recent apps button. Swipe isn't working with the AOSP keyboard.
I haven't tried the camera yet. But so far so good. Really good.
I've been using this ROM for a couple of days. Really awesome ! Great work @Ziyan !
@Ziyan mwisbest fixed the offline charging, maybe you can pick the commits? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=59405904&postcount=2882
Hey there, I haven't updated my Note II (N7100) in a while so I was wondering what's on the custom ROMs scene these days.
Long story short, I came across a popular few listed below but it doesn't do much to help differentiate one ROM from another. While it's easy to say "give each a try & find out for yourself", I was hoping we can be a bit more objective to describe the functionality of each ROM & what they feature to make them stand out from the rest.
Ideally, I can keep the list updated following your feedback. Please feel free to give me your suggestions to improve it further. Thanks!

Are we able to do that ? I never knew that it was possible to exist a thread like that. Its going to be very helpful, if its going to be continued. I will definitely follow and get informed .
Thank you for creating this.
:good::good:
---------- Post added at 03:32 AM ---------- Previous post was at 03:19 AM ----------
BUT IF WE WANT TO BE FAIR , we must inform that Aicp and Lineage roms have been updated recently
AICP has a daily base update so the last nightly is 11/6/2017
http://dwnld.aicp-rom.com/?device=n7100
Lineage's ROM also have been updatedd 3/6/2017
http://tilak.sergix44.ovh/n7100/
RR is not easy to keep track, as they release a rom and after a while it disappears from their server and an unofficial pops up and so on. I was never able to understand what is happening in that thread and this is very unfortunate since RR is (or was for NOTE 2) one of the most popular roms. It was the first not stock based, custom rom i flashed in my note 2
NucleaROM also has a newer version:
NucleaRom-V1.0.7-OFFICIAL[7.1.2]-n7100-20170525
http://nuclearom.com/download/nuclearom-v1-0-7-official7-1-2-n7100-20170525-1513-zip/?lang=en
and HenonHD , I think is going to surprise us pleasantly , with something even newer from them all
Tomorrow , if its OK, I will write my personal opinion for every one I have tried.
N7100 ROMs Table (Nougat) (updates stopped)
Moved to its own thread (here).
take a look in NucleaROM by @moludo. New built today 13/6/2017 is fantastic, with CM S-PEN support inbuilt.
I think its the top for now.

I don't see why not
You'll notice I've avoided subjective opinions when comparing the ROMs to avoid any kind of bias beyond what each of them offer. A similar [THREAD="3220724"][INDEX] thread[/THREAD] exists for our Note II & most other device forums but it hasn't been updated since the tail-end of last year so I'm aiming to just focus on a detailed "specs sheet" of ROMs.

I'm just keeping track of stable release dates. I'm sure you understand that it gets a bit trickier to keep track of nightly release dates of various ROMs. However, I'll make a note to label ROMs with a nightly release schedule as such.

ROMs table
NB: Unfortunately, sensors are not working on my Note 2 (water damage on 170708), so I can't check sensor related stuff anymore.
AICP 170702 (LineageOS):
Temperature is changing (good).
OpenCamera works now (!) (fixed beginning of July 2017)
XenonHD 170707 / 170714 / 170720 (LineageOS) (my current 'daily driver'):
Bluetooth transfer (to another Samsung device) not working (it is working in AICP / MM, also in CosmicOS/AOSP / N)
Temperature is always 30° (bad). Lockscreen shows static values '5.0V 30°C' (fixed in 170703; back in 170720)
Lockscreen: charging current always 0 'mAh' (minor)
OpenCamera cannot be started (fixed in 170703)
NucleaRom 170622 / 170627 / 170713 (LineageOS):
Bluetooth transfer: not working
Temperature is always 30° (bad). Lockscreen shows static values '5.0V 30°C'
OpenCamera not working (working in AICP/XenonHD)
RR 5.8.3 170419 (LineageOS) (thanks to CLaudioman2009):
NO HDMI out (neither in MM RR version)
NO screen mirroring to dongle (at least worked in the MM RR version)
Google camera takes photos but not video
NO xposed but can use some few magisk modules
RR 5.8.3 170714:
OpenCamera cannot be started (170714)
CosmicOS 170326 (AOSP):
Random reboots (!) (bad)
Bluetooth transfer works
Temperature is changing (good).
OpenCamera cannot be started (working in AOSP 7.1)
Signal strength indicator shows always 40%
Wifi does not work; flash void kernel v1.8.6 to fix it
crDroid 170730 / 170801 (LOS):
GPS not working
OpenCamera ok
Wifi ok
Thanks for your feedback, @jer194! Just added a "Flaw" column to the table to keep track of significant issues (+ their fixes) that users might want to aware of before committing to install a ROM.
Once again, I'd like to re-iterate to everyone that this is (at least for the time-being) an actively updated thread so your contribution is hugely appreciated for each & every ROM up there. Cheers!
Sorry Guys was all busy with my Sem exams, Hope you all are doing good,
Have so much of notifications to be checked on....
anyway, will see for a week for some new changes in RR, else will release a new stability fix update.
Special thanks to Christoph Schafer for his donation, its not the amount brother, its the appreciation which you shown matters...

The list of flaws for sure is incomplete, the ones in my post are just the ones I'm struggling with
Meanwhile, NucleaROM (170622) and XenonHD (170624) have received updates (see my earlier post).
I think that now that magisk is removed as a default root method and AICP has left us decide what to be used as root, AICP is coming back very strong among the three best for now , together with NucleaRom and HenonHD, which are still at the top three.
Hibin.m , now that he is back, has to give a boost if he intents to keep up, as RR is not what they used to be and what in other phones are still considered as a strong group.
Lineage is always the strong, solid but Spartan rom, which anyone can count on, to test if his phone is working as it should.
Its always the base of them all.
THESE ARE MY PERSONAL FEELING THIS WEEK and no one has to agree with me.
I think its like open season out there, all the kids , now that schools and colleges have finished lessons have come over, looking for things and futures they have left before new years holidays. Amazing how young people dont want to try new things but trying to keep things the way it was a long time ago. A lot of them are even asking how to go back to lolipop or KIT KAT.
TECHNOLOGY is not furniture where old is classic. Here old is outdated and not working anymore, as it cannt keep up new challenges.
Any way, sorry for that, I am mostly talking to my self

Thanks for bumping the thread!
There is no obligation to fix flaws --- everybody is free to do so, if he/she feels like ...
(and there might be more interesting things to do out there).
Anyway, I've updated my two tables I had posted earlier (on N7100 ROMs, and on flaws).
Today i have in my mind this classification about the available roms for our note 2
1. XenonHD 14/7/2017
Everything seems to work just fine in that latest version of the rom
Counting: GPS, video everywhere, video calls in WhatsApp and Viber, built-in from now on. Highly battery friendly. Nova launcher in-built, dark theme option
2. NucleaRom
radioactive kernel of the rom is one of the most effective and customize-able, available now for our phone
also a flawless rom, smooth, fast, battery friendly, with all major functions working perfect.
3. AICP 17/7/2017
very similar with the XenonHD, as they both share sources and DEV
looks slightly slower than the first 2 roms, but its a rom you can also very easy use a a daily driver.
These are my personal and only marks about the roms available right now.
The other roms are still to be update, or be tested since they where absent for a while
Dont you think you have to update threads with the new appeared rom(s),
or you are just waiting for them to mature a little more?

I know you are doing great job documentary everything. Users haven't yet understand how great and useful is what you are doing. They will appreciate it eventually
so, new entries this week end. You have a lot work to do.
Waiting to see your very useful information
THANKS again for the great job you are doing
:good::good:
So, 2 new entries this week
Lineage's rom (Tilak's) and RR(hibin.m)
Both are updated with new sources and a lot of fixes in both of them.
Lineage's rom comes prerooted, RR provided 2 versions (prerooted and un rooted) for the user to choose.
I installed lineageSU in unrooted RR rom to have a ,as much as possible , equal base to compere the 2 roms.
What i have found out:
Lineage rom, with iSU on it, passes safety net check.
RR rom, can't pass. CTS profile false.
in Lineage rom GPS fixes in device only scan
In RR GPS is not fixing unless in high accuracy (BT WIFI)
In both roms when trying to do a normal voice call using BT mobile network is restarting , so its impossible to make or receive a call.
Only inbuilt camera is working on both roms
Open camera and Snap camera HDR are crashing
Lineage's rom feels more solid but RR is faster in antutu tests, giving you though a sence of a little instability.
Thats what I manage to understand from last night's testing

Thanks for sharing your findings!
I've updated my N7100 ROMs table accordingly.
Just for the RR GPS: it is working in my installation.
The best indicator is in SatStat, 'Satellites':
- if it shows '-/-', GPS is not working
- if it shows '0/0', GPS is working, and is just a matter of patience (and free sky) to get the satellite signals.

yes, you are right.
It took me some more time and a lot of open space, but finally got it FIXED.
Looks like first time takes a little more time when in device only mode
Wanted to write a thread to give feedback on where AOSP devs are currently at with AOSP ROMs for those who are interested. Don't want you to think that there is no development in this area.
While there are GSI out there, I think ROMs built from source are the better option.
While GSIs are meant to be that, generic, I don't think this is a proper replacement for ROMs since there are many brands it tries to encompass and not to mention, the GSIs devs may not be able to fix bugs for your particular device or brand, it's just the nature of GSI.
Anyway, we currently have a secret testing group where almost daily builds are pushed, trying to polish the builds and fix some of the bugs that are still present. It's getting closer and closer to being bugless.
Here's the current state of AOSP ROMs for A52s:
Working:
- Bluetooth
- BT Audio
- NFC
- Casting
- Vibration
- Brightness and autobrightness
- Display at 60/120hz
- Audio/Mic
- Wifi/Tethering
- All Cameras (rear camera @ 4k 30fps)
- Face unlock
- Factory reset
- Pixel Features (unlim. google photos, game booster...)
- AOD & At a glance widget
Not working:
- RIL
- Fingerprint (only unlocking is broken)
Sensors:
Accelerometer: working
Geom. Field: working
Gyro: working
Light: working
Proximity: working
Gravity: working
GPS: working
The following devs have done an amazing job for AOSP development on this device, I know with their combined contribution, we'll soon start getting stable trees which will lead to better and more stable ROMs:
@Alone0316
@PauloWesley
@BlackMesa123
@Simon1511
@Ryzen5950XT
And of course special thanks to all the testers which have to reset their devices almost daily to get these tests done. You guys are a part of this too. I'll continue to update this thread when anything major breakthrough happens and/or it's stable for release. Most of this doesn't get reported on outside the testing group so I wanted to give this feedback so that users don't lose total hope on this device for people who love AOSP.
LOVE IT
Hats off to all the people trying hard to put a52s in development radar
!!!!!!!
Nice team work
Waiting for official lineage

Keep up the good work you guys
Is there a possibility to put Samsung apps (Like Samsung Store) in the AOSP version?

Only AOSP-compatible apps can run on non-Samsung ROM's, such as Galaxy Watch, Samsung Health, Samsung Internet etc.

Oh that's sad. I love aosp but I can't give up Samsung Store for now. Guess I'll stick to samsung roms for now.
excellent news. i was always wondering why a hugely popular devices as A52s did not get proper custom ROMs yet, good to hear there is progress being made.
Will the official pixel experience repository be uploaded?

Finally yessss
You are my only hope custom ROMs
I just bought this phone and it was a big mistake.
-It's full of bloatware
-There is 0 customization unless you register a samsung account
-The volume slider is only 15 steps instead of 30 so music is either too loud or too quiet for me
-I can't skip tracks by holding down the volume keys
-The notification at the top of the list doesn't get extended automatically
-When I view the opened apps it switches off the app I'm currently in. (SUPER ANNOYING)
Other than that there are actually a fiew things that are really cool:
-I can turn off the app drawer
-The camera app
-Full black background theme in samsung default apps (like calculator, messages, calendar, etc..)
-The calculator has some cool features
-No navigation bar at the bottom with gesture controls
-Keyboard can be positioned to the bottom of the screen without a gap.

You can download the Sound Assistant module from the Galaxy Store

You can download Good Lock + QuickStar to have this activated
I think yeah you will need a Samsung account but I'm not sure
Oh! That would be awesome!
I switched from OP3 with HavocOS to A52s in May and... it's been "fine" but I do miss custom AOSP/Lineage features...
Any news about that?
No news, development has slowed down a bit
ShaDisNX255, thanks for the update. Please keep us updated. I keep checking daily for any news. If the development stops or slows down a lot to the point where it's months away before it's ready then I would go with your Android 13 ROM. I prefer bare bone simple ROMs but at the time I don't want to wait years either especially if your ROM is very good and ready to be installed. So if you come across any news please let us know. Thanks.
