CyanogenMod 9 alpha3: Android 4.0.4 for Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Hello All,
I am having bit of an issue with the CyanogenMod 9 Alpha. I have successfully installed the ROM and everything is running fine until I try to use Google Maps. I can not get a GPS signal. I know this is a normal issue with ICS ROMs. Has anyone else had this issue with this ROM and know of how to fix it.

You have to flash back to a GB Gingerbread TW Touchwiz rom and get a GPS Lock then while you have the lock reboot the phone and flash the ICS aplha 3 normally
DONT TURN OF GPS flash regular fomat/system,fomat cache and dalvik then flash alpha 3 , then flash gapps and you should be ok

Can ODIN EL29 to the phone using a one click if u like, its rooted so you can still regain recovery etc easily - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1433101
Use an app like superbackup to backup your contacts, sms, call logs and use the full one click that wipes data so u dont have any issues going from CM9 (4.0) back to EL29 (2.3)
Best not to flash roms from ICS but if u know about flashing the El26 cwm then Calk's EL29 stock which is missing is mirrored here by me - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24256853&postcount=2

sfhub has an auto root sticky in the development forum. Look for the OC links near the beginning of the first post

A Question on CWM Recovery and 4.0.4...
Hey all.
I've given CM9 Alpha3 3 good test drives, and each time, it's completely obliterated my clockworkmod recovery back to the locked-down stock recovery.. which is INSANELY annoying. Is there any way to avoid this from happening? As in, are there any decent kernels which will retain CWM recovery on my phone whilst using a 4.0.4 ROM?

they just released a new kernel with ACS built in, you might want to give that a shot.

Need to switch From TWRP Recovery back to CWM Recovery?

I was originally on CWM recovery with the Venum Ice ROM. Everything was working perfect, no issues at all. I am always wanting to try new things and I found there was new version of TWRP Recovery and I flashed it thru Goomanager. Don't get me wrong I like the TWRP recovery but after flashing this recovery last night, all this morning when I get texts from different people, I am getting duplicate texts over and over, when the person that sent it, only sent it once lol. I not once had this issue when I had the CWM recovery and I was on that for like 3 weeks with never getting duplicate texts. I had this same issue on my Samsung Galaxy S3 when I had it a few months back. Everyone was like its just sprints network But i dont think it is because when I first got my Note 2, I had flashed the CWM Recovery and Venums Ice ROM and didn't see this issue arise. Anyone had any suggestions? and also Is there any way I can go back to CWM Recovery here from work without waiting to get home and get access to the Note 2 Root Kit software?

Question about CM10.1 rom

This is probably a stupid and obvious question but...Do I have to root my phone first before flashing CM10.1 on my Note 2 sgh-i317m?
I started off with installing clockwork recovery but when I go into recovery mode I see android system recovery.
if I have to root can someone provide me with a great guide to do so please and thanks.

If the recovery install didn't stick then you have to rename the recovery restore files, which requires root.
Use the gnote 2 toolkit to root.
I would just root without installing a recovery and use goomanager to install the latest version of twrp from inside android. Reboot into recovery and flash whatever you want. For my phone needs, CM10.1 is nowhere near ready to be used daily, so make a backup.

I wouldnt go that far. Rootbox now has no issues for me. Bluetooth works perfectly for everything. Camera works great. I dont even know whats not working anymore because most of the daily things I use work perfectly....Phone, Texts, Group Messaging Stock, Bluetooth, Video, Photos. Up until yesterdays update Bluetooth would crash when switching modes or after a call. Then a reboot was necessary but now it works perfectly.
I do agree about the backup plan though.

OK I rooted and flashed CM10.1 on my phone but I'm wondering if I missed something because I don't seem to be getting LTE. I only get H or 3G it seems. When I go into settings > about phone > status, it says Mobile network type: HSPA: 10.

Got that to work. LTE was off apparently.
Also, what's with the play store? How come their is so few apps and I can't find many that were there before

did you make sure you flashed gapps 121212? if you did try it again....I had that problem before and reflashing gapps fixed it.

Yeah I now flashed gapps-jb-20121212-signed.zip a second time and still no luck.

[Q] Deleted touch wiz what can i do

hi i was hoping someone could help i have accidently deleted touch wiz from my galaxy tab s and now i cant access anything the tablet wont load up properly and just reboots when i try to turn it on is there anything i can do i have no backups for this device please help me

trying reloading stock rom to your tab via obin.. I honestly don't know how you deleted touch wiz. are you rooted? stock rom? touch wiz is a launcher.

You should reinstall stock rom from ODIN. And I would recommend don't root as it seems like you don't know what you're doing with it.

Theres a file manager that you can use in recovery i dont know if you can also install apk thru that file manager

Need help !
In a bid to improve display performance of my tab S ,
I have tampered with the resolution settings using an app from playstore namely resolution changer, and now my tab S, boots up but with a bunch of failed to load........messages and i cant see anything on the screen.........
i had earlier( before this catastrophe) installed TWRP 2.8.5.0 and made a backup of my complete system....... but however now i am not able to boot into TWRP also. Links to mega.co.nz are not working , therefore unable to download stock ROM.
kindly help me with alternate solutions or working links to stock firmwares......

Unable to SMS

hello all, recently i flashed my p8000 to use rom NEXUS AOSP made by dr_root. i didnt realize about the bug in the rom which unable to send and receive SMS properly haha.
i then flashed back my p8000 using philz recovery (clean to install new rom) option to use Eragon v5.0 rom.
it seems that the SMS bug is still there. so weird. anyone experienced this too? sorry for my bad english
[SOLVED] For a time being, i flash back my P8000 to 09/09 stock rom using SP Flash tools. SMS can be send and receive perfectly.
