[Q] help! problem resetting phone - Galaxy S 4 Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone,
I have a samsung galaxy s4 mini (gt-i9195) with the UK H3G firmware (I9195XXUAMF5). The issue I'm having is the phone will not reset,
i have tried to reset it the phone via the settings interface, via the android system recovery and tried to reflash the exact same firmware on to it using odin 3.09 and 1.85.
I have the firmware downloaded as a .md5 file, i have followed instruction on XDA Devs to flash the file using odin but i have had no such luck. The phone has never been rooted and neither flashed with other firmwares.
When I try to access the Android System Recovery it shows the Android mascot in the background with a red exclamation mark and showing "No command" below it.
When I try to reset it it shows its processing teh reset but then shows the exact same android message and before "No command". When I have tried to wipe cache partition it shows "Error" and restarts the phone. This same message also shows when the phone is restarted via the Android System Recovery.
Another issue with the phone is that it always reverts back to a date in september (02/09/2013). Any help will be much appreciated.
Thank You in advance

Bootloops After ODIN back to Stock Firmware

Hi guys,
I have the t-mobile s6 edge
After messing around with my device last night and this morning, I decided to go back to stock for a bit.
I have ODIN 3.10.6. I went into download mode on my phone. extracted the stock firmware from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6-edge/general/sm-g925f-s6-firmware-thread-t3078841
loaded the "G925TUVU1AOCG_G925TTMB1AOCG_G925TUVU1AOCG_HOME.tar.md5" file into the ap box for odin
connected my phone to computer, odin recognized it. hit start. ran successfully. rebooted, android guy came up briefly and said installing system update, then it changed to "Erasing..." then it rebooted again
now it's just bootloops forever after the tmobile screen. I can boot to recovery and it says installing system update each time I boot to recovery, but selecting reboot system there shows a no command error. force the phone to power off... power on again to bootloops.
tried to go into download mode again and reflash everything through odin, same issue!
I started last night by rooting using chainfire, then installing TWRPv2, then I flashed the 5.1.1 ROM available from @eousphoros (sorry for the tag, just thought you might want to be apprised of the issues in getting back to stock after using the 5.1.1 ROM).
with 5.1.1 loaded, smart switch didn't recognize the phone for a reset so I decided to go with the ODIN method and now i'm in bootloop city
any help would be greatly appreciated

You probably need to do a factory reset
In the future you should make a full backup before installing a rom

AHH!! Sorry to have made this post... here's what I did to get it actually boot:
reflahed the stock firmware through odin again, tried to reboot, it failed, obviously. rebooted to recovery, factory reset in recovery, power down option in recovery, then turned the phone on again and it magically worked!
hopefully this post will help someone who encountered the same issue

I had the same excat same thing happen when flashing this via Odin. I didnt need to Odin stock twice though . I just booted stock recovery and did a factory reset. After that I went ahead an powered down and rebooted . All good now
How long did you have to wait in the stock recovery to get past the "installing system update" screen? Mine just sits there and I'm unable to view other options in recovery.
EDIT for noobs (like me): wait 30 seconds on the "installing system update" screen.
I'm still stuck in boot loop
Im in the same exact situation , but I'm still stuck in boot loop. I followed your restore instructions and nothing. Please help.

Looks here, may apply to your case. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=63226466
Pp.
I initially used odin to flash OI1 update, after a rom I was using caused problems and I got bootloop. It changed bootloader value to b:3 and I'm unable to downgrade now so I used smart switch which didn't recognize device so used emergency recovery and still bootloop. I have factory reset and wipe cache multiple times along with adb side load and individual flashes of bootloader, modem, kernel, flashed custom kernel and twrp to access fix permissions and to mount partitions with advanced wipe etc and still wont boot past logo. Also during one fix attempt phone said can't mount system.. Idk I'm not understanding where the problem is .everything says successful but I'm still in bootloop. Please help. I've spent hours everyday for the past week searching & trying different things that seem might help so open to any suggestions.

I had a bootloop problem and recovery mode showed all the options but has a green android man laying down with red icon above him and No Command below the android man. Tried the factory wipe and cache wipe but it gives some red writing with the word failed in the coding and the word error under the android man. Tried to flash a stock ROM from sammobile using Odin. Odin gives a pass but the same problems persist. Can someone please help?

im flashed phone whit dis frimwer from anroide 7 G925TUVS6FRC1_G925TTMB6FRC1_TMB
im dawnloaded this frimwer 4Files-G925TTMB3EPD1-6.0.1-By-NoLoGiG but not work or not flashed have error

Please help - stuck with a bricked GT-I9195.

I stupidly tried to "Unroot" my phone by factory restoring it then flashing a stock rom and original firmware through Odin. Flashing the stock rom worked however when I tried to flash the firmware through Odin I got an "ext4 image fail" error. I am now stuck with a phone that does not boot. It is just stuck on a "Connect to Kies for emergency recovery" screen - but my phone is never detected in Kies. I cannot boot into recovery mode: I tried and I get the Samsung logo with the blue "RECOVERY BOOTING" text at the top for a split second, but then the screen goes black and I get this message at the top of the screen:
"image size too large!! W:1000, H:1920
display image fail
SECURE FAIL: KERNEL"
Basically, I had 4.2.2 Jellybean installed but wanted Kitkat (this was much earlier this year) and so I found a method of installing KitKat which also gave root access. Can't remember what I did to install it.
I have now successfully flashed CWM recovery through Odin but I have absolutely no idea what to do next. All the guides I have read talk about installing something through an SD card via the recovery menu, which I obviously cannot do because I can't reach the recovery menu.
Can anybody help me please, I am a complete newb when it comes to this stuff and I really don't want a useless phone :crying:

Phone stopped working, no idea how to fix it now

I don't know what happened but all of a sudden my gs4 stopped working and I could only get it up to the logo before it rebooted again. I am a total noob so I don't have any developer apps or firmware or whatever. I tried using Kies but I get stuck on the serial number part as I have entered everything on the box and behind the battery with none of them working. Now I am trying to use Odin but I think I messed up my phone even more. On the box it says M919NUVUEMK5 so I downloaded the firmware with that same code but originally I had downloaded the NUVUFOK one and used that. So I followed the guide and used that NUVUFOK file, and it seemd to be working as the download bar on my phone was almost done, but then all of a sudden it failed. I figured that was the wrong firmware so I went back and got the MK5 one, but now when I try to do the same thing with this firmware the bar only loads a tiny bit and then stops. Also the phone won't start up properly after I tried this, now it says there is an issue with the firmware upgrade and I need to use recovery mode in Kies. I have no idea what to do or what I am even doing, all I want to do is get my phone working again.
If you live in the US, you can take it to Best Buy an they will use there software to get it working again. Its hell of a lot less work.

Hello. You will need to reformat your device so odin can recognize it. This can be done by using odin to flash a custom recovery like TWRP. The download link for that custom recovery is: https://dl.twrp.me/jfltetmo
Once you have that downloaded open odin and select AP option. Browse to where you saved TWRP and select it. Now proceed with flashing like normal. after its done flashing turn off the device.
After it is completely off hold the power button and volume up button simultaneously until you see the blue words on the top right corner of the boot logo screen.
Now you are in the twrp custom recovery menu. Go to Wipe > Advanced Wipe then select everything except for external sd, USB, and internal storage.
Once it is complete formatting turn the phone off again and boot back into download mode. Now you can reflash the correct firmware for your phone. I recommend using this firmware instead since it is a whole image rather than an incremental update. After flashing this your phone will reboot, give you the loading android logo and then the phone will start up once again! Good luck
The phone is giving the firmware error message because you tried to flash an older firmware to the phone.
Download the latest firmware for your phone and reflash it using Odin and the original Samsung USB cable.

I downloaded it and it worked but now can't get past the "blue words" part. When trying to go into recovery it gives me either of two screens, one says "system software not authorized by samsung has been found on your phone." with red words "secure fail: kernel" or the blue words show up followed by red words that say "recovery is not seandroid enforcing" and then yellow words "set warranty bit: recovery". the phone is still resetting and freezing randomly.

HELP -SM-T805 (807A for AT&T) failed ODIN CF-AutoRoot now won't boot, can't recovery
Hello Team,
I have 2 Devices, SM-T807A (AT&T USA) running Marshmallow.
I have downloaded the newest CF-AutoRoot and Odin V3.10.6 as instructed.
I attempted to flash the devices using CF-Autoroot.tar by clicking the "AP", I made Sure I only selected "Auto-Reboot" and "F Reset Time".
It loaded the image, started the process and gave me an error, "NAND Write Fail".
I tried the second device now, different cable, different CF auto-root download, same options, same result.
The device rebooted and now I am stuck at the screen asking me to connected to Kies to recover the device.
I connected to Kies and Smart Switch to do an "Emergency Recovery", and both devices cannot be seen to be restored. I used 4 different cables, all ports on a Mac and Windows device.
What I have attempted:
- To refresh a stock firmware, Tried the germany vodafone version and the swisscom, both failed
- Attempted to reflash CF auto root several times with many different ODIN versions, same result
- Attempted to flash TWRP to use a different recovery method, fails as well
What happens now?
- Device won't boot normally
- Recovery mode brings me to the Samsung error screen (Power+Home+Up)
- Download is still working but that's just about it
- Knox has not been tripped
- Device info shows that Official Samsung boot loader and image are both installed
This is not my first rooting, but I am completely out of ideas on what to do to fix this? Any thoughts?

Unfortunately the bootloader is locked on that device, so it can't be rooted with traditional tools.
It's simple enough to recover from this error.
The firmware is available on the forum.

Bricked Galaxy Tab3 7.0 SM-T210, can't enter download or recovery modes

I have a Galaxy Tab3 7.0 SM-T210 that we've owned for a long time, but I now want to use it for more things and find it a little clunky and slow compared to our more up to date smart phones. So i wanted to flash with a newer version of Android, but the tablet now appears to be bricked showing the "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again" screen and it won't do anything else. It won't enter download mode or recovery mode.
I came across these instructions to take me from a stock tab, and upgrade to Android 9.0 theupgradeguide.com/2019/09/17/install-android-9-0-pie-on-samsung-galaxy-tab-3-7-0-lineageos-16-how-to-guide
I loaded TWRP successfully using Odin and was able to set up a Nandroid backup. I then moved on to part 5 to perform a factory reset of the device, which was successful. This is where it started to go wrong though! I chose the reboot option after the wipe, rather than as per the instructions going back to the TWRP main menu. The tab rebooted and would't get past the Samsung logo. It went back in to download mode when I tried, and then tried to flash with a stock version of KitKat Android. Odin recognised the tab connected, it accepted the .tar flash file, and the tab showed the progress bar showing the download happening. Then Odin failed after a few minutes, and then the firmware upgrade failure error message appeared.
After lots of internet searching I've tried the following:
1. Putting it in download mode, doesn't work!
2. Putting it in recovery mode, doesn't work!
3. Connecting it to Kies, device not recognised and latest version of Kies doesn't have the option to manually select your device to reload the firmware!
4. Tried using ADB, device isn't recognised!
So i'm at a loss what to do to fix it, can anyone help?!
I was just trying to do the same yesterday. It all went fine with backing up and wiping, but TWRP didnt accept the image I downloaded.
It is so sad to have a capable hardware limited due lack of manufacturer care (not even saying updates, because they updated the android version at the time, but lack of optimization and how my tablet became sluggish, gave me disgust of any samsung branded device).
Can't you get to TWRP screen anymore?
If you can get to Odin download mode, trying reflashing Odin (perhaps a different version).
