I am thinking of getting a g2 and have been reading the forums to see what is available and I am seeing terms such as zva, zvc, tot that I haven't seen in other forums is there a post that explains these? Of course I must also ask the obligatory question would you buy the g2 today if you had to do it again?

Yes I would buy it all over again and again.
Zva was a radio update from zv8 which opened up spark ability.
Zvc is the update to KitKat or 4.4.2.

That's what I'm thinking. Not enough people have this phone to warrant an update.

That's alright, though. We have KitKat although it isn't LG official. Played with the G2 and ended up with the OGP simply for the bigger screen and micro SD support and was very happy with the low price.

I hope at least we will have a ported version
There are a couple ROM's that are KK based. I believe they are in the Original Development section.
Figured i would start this thread seeing as the Verizon has its own now. This way all of the sprint rumors, speculation and or whatever involving the 4.4 update can be put here. This way we are not digging through so many pages to find a few that relate to the sprint variant.
It's weird, Sprint is usually super quick at updates, if not first. Oh well, I think it will be soon, I can feel it.

First of all thanks for starting this second if any one intetested i read an article on Tuesday see link http://www.gottabemobile.com/2014/03/04/lg-g2-android-4-4-update-expect/ the writer forgot to mention sprint and got so flamed he had to edit it and add us in read artical then see the comments at end
sent from my lg-ls980 there are many like it but this one is mine
From the same site. I saw this also reported on a couple other sites too but don't have the links. I'm betting Sprint is going to hold it but have no clue why. Maybe to push GS5 sales, but I have no clue why someone would want that phone.

Considering they are just now rolling in. My buddy bought one this week and the sales guys was pressing him and another guy hard to buy that phone. The whole idea around note competition to. I'm just saying if I was head of LG I'd put 4.4 on my newest model first only because your newest version is sadly running 4.2.2

LG has already given KK to Sprint. They've been testing it for a while now. It's up to them to finalize and Ok it now. The Flex has been out on Sprint, T-Mobile, and AT&T for a month and 2 of them have updated the G2.

In LG's defense, when KitKat released in November, some variant's of the m7(HTC One) were still on 4.1.2. LG would have been stupid to update 4.3, it would have been a flagrant waste of money. LG knew in August of the existence of Kitkat(because PDK, and Nexus 5), so they just focused on delivering KitKat, and skipping 4.3. Hell, the Note 10.1 is skipping 4.2 AND 4.3, and going straight to KitKat.

from what i am seeing and hearing, No. you will have to .tot back to stock in order to take ota. or if those apps were backed up in titanium you may be able to restore them and take ota. Not sure on the last one though.
I suspect part of wait for 4.4 is that Sprint put a lot of resources into the 4.2 Spark Update when they would have been otherwise testing KK, other carriers were able to get more QA time on the new release and Sprint is playing catchup. (Personally, I wish they'd waited for KK to do Spark)

A good update for the guys still with stock ROM, for the rest check out the thread on installing the E988 on the ATT E980 using a simple CWM restore, much more convenient and very close to STOCK LG SOFTWARE, Rooted, no carrier BS, NO CARRIER-IQ, Tethering Enabled etc.....
Have not been happier with the phone, will keep me going another year!
Oh snap I got another email from ATT today. Hells yes.

Ok I just got off the phone with a nice lady over at AT&T customer support. She confirmed that the 4.4 KK started rolling out today. And that it isn't released all AT once to everyone. It is released in batches. She wasn't quite sure how they decide who gets it first.. but she assured me it is coming. And the device not registered error we are getting will go away when they push the update to your particular device. So just keep checking for updates every 24 hours.

Looking at my list of phones, I've gone back to LG several times. I still have the S5 which I pay monthly for, but it just kind of sits there, which is a shame, but it feels way too cheap and I'm not into the dullness of the AMOLED. I'm probably in the minority in that, but something about that screen and fluidity just doesn't match up to the Nexus 5.
I know the G3 will blow the N5 out of the water here shortly, but it's good enough at this point.
sorry for digging it old post, but this was only question that i find lately with still no answer. so can i flash D851 with other firmware (ex.855)? tnx

LAF (Download mode) won't let other firmwares to install, but we can force to install other variant's firmwares. Phone will boot successfully too, but we can have serious problems like touchscreen, WiFi, Bluetooth and RIL (Radio).
So, don't even think that.

I would not get your hopes up for Sprint to release Lollipop to G2. Hardly any of their dealers have G2's in their inventory to justify this. When LS980ZVE rolled out, there was still inventory left to be sold.
With that being said, maybe some long-time Sprint subscribers can chime in and share their opinion on how likely it is for Sprint to roll out an update to a phone they no longer sell that has a successor.

First, I'm a long term Sprint user, since 2008. Good enough for you?
I'm mixed if we will see it or not. The point of the G2 is almost two years old and a lot of the original users will have a upgrade available. You never know.
