hi friends.. rooted my Samsung galaxy grand yesterday and installed the Xperia z flavoured gennext Rom. now I want to install my stock Rom again. before installing the Xperia z Rom, I made a backup of my stock rom thorough ->CWM recovery-> backup and restore function. so is it possible to get my stock Rom back by just using 'install zip from sd card' function of CWM AND using my stock Rom backup as the zip file?
Why would you do that? Why complicate everything? -__-
Why don't you just restore the backup via CWM instead of creating a whole new flashable zip?

hello !
i have a simple question ...
when we are on Custom rom (CM for example ) , how can i restore "cleanly" a stock rom (rooted + CWM + own datas) that we have done a full backup of this one previously ,before flashing a custom rom ??? ( as if nothing had happened !... to find rooted/cwm stock rom with all datas and parameters ...as before)
what is the good "clean" procedure for not have problems ?

Try downloading and flashing the specific sock FW from samsung-updates. Then flash it with Odin.
Actually the KIES software has a repair feature that does it for you. It worked for me, but I am not sure if it would work for anyone else.
thank fo answer
but i just want to know the good way for to restore a backup of a stock rom that i have made with ClockWorkMod previously ...how can i restore it properly ?
with CM installed ,a simply wipe cache + data ...and then "restore" the stock rom is good ?
or we have to reflash the stock rom via Odin ,and then reflash serranoltexx CWM ...and then "restore" the previous backup (made before flashing custom rom ) ...it's looong !
...no answer ? :crying:
Help Needed
When..I was to install the AOSP VANILLA custom ROM by dhacker29 on my Nokia X RM 980 ...
I made a backup using nokia stock recovery and installed new custom ROM..when I wanted to return due to b bug that caused ..no voice of mine was being heared by the other person...
I flashed the stock recovery again but when I selected backup file and clicked restore..it did nothing but just said (backup file name) selected and nothing else displayed after it....
So I wanted to know if there is any other way to restore my data.....and I tried it restoring cwm and twrp but no success...its a Zip file....waiting for answers
You can't restore this backup.
The Best Solution is Flash Stock Rom again Or install Custom ROM.
Hit THANKS if I help you
I made that big mistake to force a great upgrade on a friends phone and as always: problems occured and he's not happy, so my last resort is to restore the backup.
The base firmware was a Gingerbread-Stock. I rooted and created a backup with CWM. After that I had to install JB Stock to be able to install CM11 and now I have to go back to that backup.
Is it possible to just restore the backup? Or if I have to repartition/reformat the filesystem, is there a recovery that has that feature?
Thanks.
i think u have to flash Stock GB with ODIN, root it, install CWM and restore ur Backup.
but im not expert !!

Well, I'm trying to find an easier way, because I have to walk him through it by mail or skype. :/
better do a fullbackup next time over adb
Hi all,
I need to recover some information from my phone from before I flashed a new ROM, and wondering what's the easiest way about it based on the scenario given below;
I was running a rooted stock ROM (LB) with TWRP. I used titanium to batch backup my apps ( but seem to have overlooked my notepad app which had info in it that I now need.)
I installed resurrection remix which comes with CWM so can't just do a new nandroid, then restore the old one to get the info, then re-restore the newer backup.
Is there a way to extract the info direct from my twrp backup on my SD/ laptop or do I need to/is it possible to flash TWRP to replace CWM and keep the rest of the ROM as-is?
TIA
If you are just recovering a file, and not restoring the backup itself, try using nandroid manager. I can extract a file from my nandroid backup (created by cwm). I never tried it with twrp nandroid backup though.
Other option is to try to flash the Dual Recovery on your phone.
Then you have TWRP and CWM on your phone.
