Hi,
I was wondering if anyone knows of a tweak that lets you use the keyboard on games and emulators such as Morphgear or other apps to simulate hard keys. I had a look on the Touch Pro forum and came across a nice program that enables you to use certain keys for Morphgear, the downside is that some of the keys get a little mixed up which I assume is a compatibility problem or hardware difference. But the concept is there. It's just that with the lack of a D-Pad making use of the keyboard for things other than typing would be really useful. If there isn't one out yet, do you think someone will come up with one in time.
Link to the Touch Pro tweak - I've tested it and other than than the keys get a bit mixed up it works

Hi, when you tested the kfortouchpro app on your Rhodium was it playable?
disable eT9 and it works
Hi,
disable eT9 and it works:
You want to disable eT9. Go into the registry and change to this:
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Layouts\e0010409]
"Layout Text"="COMP IME"
"Ime File"="compime.dll"
then soft reset. that disables eT9 and leaves you with the windows mobile standard IME.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=469486
Than you can remap buttons with ae button.
I had the same problem, my first solution was described here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=531823
with the ability to kept eT9, but it wont work with emulators like Gen PPC.
Hope it helps you.
I downloaded KforTP (do a search, can't remember where from). You can select the kb setting you want without having to soft reset. Works perfectly for me when using the smartgear emulator.
Thanks Bub3D. I tried your first solution and it worked, at least in morphgear - genpp doesn't seem to recognise the keys on one side of the keyboard.. Just out of interest, have I actually disabled anything that I might use? Everything seems to work, but what does eT9 do?
I have tried GenPP unsuccessfully. Morphgear SNES works but not the genesis module. Anyone any ideas? It seems to load up games but then black screen when it gets past the title screens. Also crashes the device sometimes when doing this.
I'd happily pay good money for a decent genesis emulator on the TP2 if anyone knows of any.
I'm looking into a new phone and one thing I would really like is the ability to play old games such as those found on MAME, SNES, and GBC. Unfortunately, the state of Windows Mobile game emulation has not progressed much in the past two years. With many phones now abandoning the D pad and screen resolution now higher than what some emulators can manage, programs that worked marginally for my 8125 are reported not working on newer devices. As WM moves on to WM7, I left wondering if any emulators will be left. I noticed that the Iphone and Android phones have emulation development ongoing. Perhaps it is the challenge of getting something to work on something new. I have no programming skills whatsoever so I'm left tapping away on a keyboard lamenting the fact that my next probable phone won't be as fun as I had hoped (since other phones do not suit my productivity needs or exceed my budget for overall cost of ownership). Hopefully, some of these tweaks listed above will work for the TP2 for AT&T's version.
kfortouchpro is NOT needed on this device for morphgear...
in morphgear:
o go to any button config screen
o when assigning the buttons hold down CONTROL while hitting the key
o go to global options menu
o enable 'polling' method
o enjoy!
SmartGear also works without any special tricks at all.

I've got a question. I'm using Morphgear, but I can't play some games, because I don't have multitouch on my phone. That's why I can't do, for example, uppercut in Mortal Kombat, which requires two buttons pressed at the same time. I would like to map some button to the buttons on my phone - for example red headphone, green headphone, the volume buttons, etc. It would be great. I tried some applications like AE Button or Dred Sensor, they work with typical using the phone, but not in Morphgear. When I try to map the keys in options, it looks like the are mapped, but they don't work in any game. Is it possible to do that? I don't want to buy external bluetooth controller, I want to use the buttons on my phone.

to get mine to work i simply mapped the keys using the on screen(pop-up form the bottom) keyboard rather than the physical keyboard. it then worked on the physical keyboard. I got this method somewhere on the forums not sure where.
So, you mapped the keys to the keyboard and then you were able to use for example volume buttons on the phone to control the game? That's what I want to do.
Hi,
Has anyone used a bluetooth keyboard/mouse with the SGS2?
If so, what was your experience and which devices did you use?
It would be nice to have a list of devices that are AVAILABLE and play nice with the SGS2 so we don't all end up buying 5 keyboards trying to find a decent one.
This is obviously a precursor to the MHL cable dropping and being able to navigate the device over MHL Mirroring.
Cheers!
Check the end of my video here, BT keyboard and mouse working fine:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=giJXF5pIITc
The keyboard I'm using is the iGo Stowaway Ultraslim Keyboard, sadly not made any more. Nearly any BT HID Profile device should work with the SGSII.
For starters I would guess that all the ones in this -
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=799079&highlight=bluetooth+keyboard+mouse
- thread for the SGSI will work fine.
Ah cool cheers, i do remember you saying that your keyboard was no longer available sadly.
I was thinking something like this would be great to just kick back and use as a media controller....

I'll take a look through that thread, thanks for that.

anyone can check if it work? or advise similar mini keyboards which would work on our device..
I have the same question... did a bit of research and found the following:
Foldable freecom model, 54 quids. Reviews indicate it's decent, has a little tray to hold the phone but it's also 'cheaply built':
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Freedom-BTF...1_6?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1306668294&sr=1-6
The official Apple wireless keyboard. Great build, but not foldable. 50 quids
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Apple-MC184B-A-Wireless-Keyboard/dp/B002TUSWU4/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top
A clone of the above, 22 quids.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Bluetooth-W...1_3?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1306669505&sr=1-3
I'm not seeing any 'great' options here... can someone suggest anything else?
I have this keyboard:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Freedom-Pro...IWJ6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1306675360&sr=1-1
It works fine, save for the buttons that are specific to certain OS. It's not my favorite keyboard, tho.
I just purchased this one:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Folding-Bluetoo...66?pt=PCA_Mice_Trackballs&hash=item53e6f9a18a
I have one from about 10 years ago that was made for a Handspring PDA and it was hands-down the best portable keyboard I've ever used, so I'm hoping this one will be just as good. I also have a Jorno keyboard on order, but there's no ETA on its release yet.
I've also used a Bluetooth mouse with the phone, and it also works fine. Mine's the Razer Orochi.
Logitech dinovo mini works well...
(only complaint is that the keyboard layout is scandinavian/swedish) and the phone gets the default english letters. Probably just have to change key mapping but have not gotten around to that yet)

Does anybody know how to use a different keyboard layout than US/GB?
I have a German version of this keyboard.
Same with me.
My keyboard finally arrived, and it's pretty good. Seems it may have a defect (it's typing some double letters on some keys, R and Space especially), but other than that, it's pretty much an exact replica of the one I used to have, and it feels great. I highly recommend it.

it's a clone of the one TJ mentioned.
Oh sure it's an interesting concept, and it's a full size keyboard, the problem is
IT DOESN'T WORK!!!
Seller doesn't seem to care.
So between thsi and TJ's case I woudl recommend staying away from these
Has any body tried this "Mini Bluetooth Keyboard with Touchpad and Laser Pointer" with the S2? it looks great for sofa surfing with the hdmi MHL adaptor.
I am not allowed to post any links yet so please Google for
Rii Mini Bluetooth KeyBoard Review! - Touchpad Mouse
I would be grateful if some could could confirm that they have got it working and what they think of this device?
And do all the buttons work OK e.g. media volume and cursor buttons and touch pad?
Thanks
Louis

I've sent mine back for a replacement. It's a very cheaply-made product. The original is built far better... it actually says on the back "designed by Think Outside Inc., Carlsbad, CA USA."
Hello!
I tested a Nokia SU-8W bluetooth keyboard, it comes with a Nokia N8.
Works well, no pairing issues, very clean to do it .
I don't know how to do with the keyboard the same actions as "option" or "home" buttons . At least, Esc key works as back button.
I miss to have a bluetooth mouse at the same time... is a needed partner for this keyboard.

On the couple of Bluetooth keyboards I've been using, these combinations worked:
Fn+left arrow: Home
Fn+right arrow: Sleep
Fn+1: Option/menu
Fn+(hold) left arrow: Recent
Fn+(tap x2) left arrow: Voice Talk
Been playing with other combinations, but those are all the ones I've been able to find so far.

Actually, I am interested in remapping keys. I have a Palm 3245WW bluetooth keyboard and I sometimes have to write in Greek, which involves using some accents (for intonation). The on-screen keyboard will give me these accents if I long press on the keys of the stock Greek layout, but I haven't figured out how to do this with the bluetooth keyboard. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi guys, I hope to found a solution around here.
I've searched all over the internet and most of people agreed that the Apple Wireless Keyboard is one of the best to use with the GTab 10.1 and following this I bought one for me.
The problem is that nothing works, I got them paired and ready, but just here and there I can type on it without any hassle and when I can type, I cannot use the function keys, just literally typing. I thought the problem was the keyboard, but ran a test pairing it with my PC, laptop and even my iPhone and it worked flawlessly.
So, I've been wondering: "Isn't that because my tablet is Brazilian?" - I don't know, maybe the FW or whatever is ****ed up, just as almost everything else regarding tech that we get. It can even be that the info I got isn't that accurate and I have to get another specific Android keyboard that will work better. I'll need some help from you folks to decide which one, I have these options: Motorola, Sony and Logitech.
If you guys know any way to help, share. I'll be very grateful.
Thanks in advance!
Since you didn`t get an answer yet, I`ll give it a shot.
But I`m afraid there are no simple answers.

I`ve got 3 different bluetooth keyboards that I use with my GTab 10.1 and my Xoom. And I have to agree with most people on the internet. If I do some serious typing, I also prefer the Apple Keyboard. But all 3 of them work.

I`m not exactly sure what you are refering too, but once I marked the bluetooth keyboard as the `main`keyboard in the system settings, I did work OK for me. Instead of the `on screen` keyboard, I can use the bluetooth keyboard everywhere when there is some text to be typed.
Function keys is somewhat different. There doesn`t seem to be some standard way of dealing with that in android (but I didn`t check fr the latest version of android). What would you expect these keys to do ? For my convinience, I did remap some of them to missing keys on the keyboard. (e.g. To have a `home`key) But that`s a bit involved (see below).
But some things (like Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V for copy and paste) work as expected.

Could be ... I just sticked to the qwerty layout to be sure. I did see quite some post from people that adapted the keyboard maping files to work with their keyboard (e.g. German ones), the same way that I adapted some of the function keys. You need to be rooted for that. The relevant files can be found in "/system/usr/keylayout/" and "/system/usr/keychars". But modifying these files is not easy or without risk. Currently, you can only find files in these that support qwerty keyboards if you have a standard setup.
A search on the internet will give you some examples of people that already did this. Or if you would like to play with these, I could also post a bit more on how I changed these files.
Hope this helps a bit.

I'm refering to the bluetooth keyboards for the iPad. These work OK for our GTab. My collegue at work uses one whith his Mac. We did use his keyboard a couple times with my GTab while pair programming. Works fine, besides the fact that his keyboard does not have an escape key.
There are also a lot of iPad keyboard clones from China (cfr. ebay) which also work OK. There is a version of these that are more generic (e.g. also support PC). I went for one of those. These have e.g. also an "escape" key, a "ctrl" key, arrows, ... And I need those keys a lot since I use "vim" to do my programming in a terminal.
I've have done most of my programming on the pad using this keyboard during the last five months. Works very good.
Example: http://www.benl.ebay.be/itm/250926373986
I tried the Apple wireless keyboard and didnt like it. When I had my iPad2, I tried the Apple keyboard and much preferred the Logitech. I use the same keyboard (while Logitech makes "Android" and "iPad" specific keyboards, they are both the same except for the iPad one having "command" and "option" keys) with my GalTab 10.1 and it works great. It recognized it immediately and works flawlessly.
(And I think it looks better than the Apple keyboard - but that may just be me.)

its about the mapping of the keyboard as said above, but also the mapping maybe specific to different apps. I mean so shortcuts work for one app but not the other.
I recommend Kensington KeyFolio™ Expert for Android
It's real fast and accurate, but the keys are a little bit small. Go google it
Hello,
I didn't post here for a long time, so I hope that this is the correct section to post my problem, if it isn't, I kindly ask a moderator to move it in the correct place, thank you.
Also I wanna thank all that users here who develop custom ROMs, you are doing a great job.
Now I would like to explain my problem:
I ran an HTC Desire Z with the stock ROM for almost a year now and decided to upgrade the ROM. A friend helped me to unlock and root the device, he put the Andromadus CM 10.1 build 22 on the phone.
This (and also the hardware keyboard) worked quite fine, until I installed SwiftKey via Amazon Appstore.
Since I installed this app and changed the input method for both on-screen-keyboard and physical keyboard, the hardware keyboard behaves weird and is not fully useable. The layout changed from german QWERTZ to QWERTY (which I actually chose in Swiftkey Settings as it is fine for me), but additionally, the FN Key doesn't work anymore: When I press it, followed by some key, the number or symbol doesn't appear. Instead, nothing happens; additionally, in Skype 4.4.0.31835, the button for sending a chat disappears and can be only brought back by switching to portrait mode.
Unfortunately, neither unchecking SwiftKey from input methods nor uninstalling it solved this problem, which is quite annoying as I cannot type any numbers and many needed special signs.
I checked already these things:
- physical keyboard layout (vision-keypad-ger)
- Has this keyboard file the right content, according to Thread "[GUIDE] Simple way to change physical keyboard keymappings!" --> yes, it has, even Y and Z are not swapped)
So it seems as if SwiftKey changed some other file or setting in the system.
Could anyone please tell me where to search to resolve that issue?
Thank you very much in advance,
greets,
PS. I could, of course, backup the phone and reflash it, but I really would like to use SwiftKey as it improved my workflow dramatically even though I only used, use and will use the hardware keyboard...
Hello,
I now had some time to investigate a bit more. First I have to add, that some keys still worked with FN; these were ! ([email protected]), = (FN+?) and one other which I don't remember.
Then, I backed up my Apps and Data and reflashed another ROM (SlimROM), with which I had a lot of other problems, so I switched back to the already stated Flinny-CM10.1, Build 22.
I didn't install Swiftkey, neither any other apps, I just changed the hardware keyboard layout to QWERTY. Immediately, I had the same behaviour
Also, I checked the other files in the keychars directory and I found that the system fell back to "Generic.klc". Exchanging the file with "vision-keypad-ger.klc" by renaming it now led to even worse - now only the menu and the search buttons are working i.e. the keyboard is completely unuseable...
As next, I also changed something in the keylayouts directory, which made no improvement.
can somebody please tell me what I am doing wrong?
Thanks a lot =)
greets
I got the Logitech K400r keyboard to use with USB OTG on my N5. At first the home button would take me to my homescreen and the esc button would act as a back button. Recently these buttons don't do these functions anymore. Instead the home button takes me to my calendar and the esc button does nothing. The music button still opens google play music as it did before, but many of the previous functions either don't do the same thing or do nothing.
I've tried adding .kcm and .kl files to my keychars and keylayout folders with the proper vendor and PID naming but nothing seems to work. Does anyone know what to change or how to get back the old keyboard functionality? Is there a way to reset the physical keyboard mapping or something?
Thanks in advance!
