Hi!
I'm using a gt i9000 and since i've installed PA there's a very low signal in WIFI and data.
As PA isn't come with a modem, I would like to know if there's a good idea to install one of them, and of course, "which one", since there's so little information about modems in the Net.
By the way:
I have NetCom Norway
Base band version I9000XXJVT
Kernel 3.0.101-Semaphore_JB_3.3.0
PA 3.99-RC2
Thanks for helping
This is device and location specific so you should ask in your device forum

I've been using AOKP since build 29 or so. The past few builds have left me with very poor connections / unreliable connections / dropped connections. I suppose this has to do with the 4.0.4 upgrade. I've tried various combinations of radios and kernels with (now) AOKP B35, having done a clean install for M5.
The kernels I've tried include JamesBond, Franco, and LeanKernel.
The radios I've tried are UGLC1 and XXLA2.
I'm on T-Mobile in the US (Midwest / Chicago area mostly). If it matters, my GSM Gnex was purchased from Amazon about two months ago.
My main symptoms are poor connections - I have 3G with 1-2 bars while my wife's HTC G2 will have H with 5 bars. And I often lose the connection, usually coming off of WiFi.
At this point, I'll take any combination of radio/kernel/ROM that can restore me to good functionality. I'd rather not go back to an older nandroid (I think the last was around B32). I'd rather start clean with a new combination that will work.
I know this is a common problem, and that many have tried to come up with a solution to these drops. But I've not gotten any advice in the AOKP thread that ultimately led me to a solution that worked.
Thanks for the advice.
First of flash the Milestone 5, thats a full working rom, others are betas, use AOKP Milestone 5. And francos kernel Milestone 3 for stability /performance /battery and as for radios go to general section and get to the radios/baseband thread.. Download all the GSM radios there and try them until you find wich one works perfect for you, does not matter if its for europe or asia or us, just get em all.
In my case the only radio that works its xxkl1.. ALL other radios wont get data at all or low signal, but xxkl1 works just perfect you know? Full bars HSPA full speed

Hey all, I'm kind of new to the forums so hopefully Im posting this in the right place.
I am the owner of an AT&T Galaxy S2 as well as an AT&T Galaxy S3, and I have found that in the ROM community that generally the AT&T phone ROM options are always pretty far behind. What I mean by this is that say, when there are broken nightly builds for AOKP or Cyanogenmod for my phone many others already have stable releases. This is okay with me. They do what they can. My question though is, is there any ROM that turns out stable releases of their rom for my two phones quickly and consistently? Does it have a name?
Thanks in advanced!
The only one off the top of my head that is updated frequently by the same Dev(s) on the s2 & s3 is Aokp by task650 and ktoonsez.
It is perfectly stable and is by no means buggy or broken on either the s2 or s3.

Small bugs* but they get worked out quickly with updates VERY freq.
no need for threads like this
Every time I flash a new ROM, it seems like my 4G LTE signal always diminishes slightly for some particular roms. Why is that?
I figured that if my radios always stay the same then I shouldn't have that problem, but I always notice a slight decrease in bandwidth speed when loading icons in the market or loading webpages.
Is there a page where I can update the radio for our device?

I flash pretty often as well. Don't ever see a difference in my speed tests though. Maybe yours is isolated?
Doing a clean wipe may help?
Current Devices: At&t Samsung Galaxy Note, Verizon Samsung Galaxy Nexus, Asus Google Nexus 7 Super Tablet
Current Roms: CleanROM Ace 4.6.1(Note 2), AOKP (Galaxy Nexus), Nexus 7 Stock

Nah I have a blackberry sitting in here with full bars too. I was find with the previous rom I had, but I guess its just this rom (paranoid android 3.15) that is giving me problems.

It's probably not the rom seeing that usually roms don't flash modems. Sometimes tw roms flash modems because they come packaged with them but aosp roms don't usually come with a modem. You can try flashing one and see if it helps but there is no best modem it's all dependent on where u live

you will never have the same speeds for a variety of reasons; server load, tower load, time of day, and many more variables, so I wouldnt worry too much about it..
And, signal bars on your phone are not accuate at all in determining throughput speeds....
Hi,
I've read through several threads now and haven't understand or found a way to fix my problem.
My original problem was, that the signal strength of my S4 Mini LTE (I9195) was way too strong, so that it interfered heavily with speakers in even 2m distance. I now think that I installed the Cyanogenmod Firmware without looking at the baseband version.
So now I'd like to know, if there was a way to get a fairly recent cyanogenmod (4.4.2 or later) with baseband version for Europe/Germany. (which i don't know)

we've a baseband thread in the general s4 mini forum, there are several basebands, you could change them. this doesn't depend on the rom
Below is how my signal has been on the following versions of Android at my home - I've been on Toro (Verizon-Samsung Galaxy Nexus) the whole time / same phone.
I'm a crack flasher (I got burnt out a little around the end of 4.2, early 4.3 updates).
Android 4.0 - 2/3 bars of signal (LTE) Mostly CM / AOKP / Codename Android - Franco
Android 4.1 - 2/3 bars of signal (LTE) Mostly AOKP / CNA - Franco
Android 4.2 - 1/2 bars of signal (LTE) Mostly AOKP - Franco
Android 4.3 - Skipped
Android 4.4 - 0/1 bars of signal (LTE) Mostly SlimKat / Liquidsmooth - Dirty-V
What i'm wondering is, why the drop in signal? Is it because it's not officially supported anymore, does the population on the tower(s) change my signal strength, is there another reason?.
I know the perimeters for what the signal shows can change (not sure by rom or version of android) but the actual download speed has slowed significantly as well...
One possibility that I hadn't considered too much was the addition of a new case - (Trident Kracken AMS case (http://www.tridentcase.com/shop-products/samsung-galaxy-nexus/kraken-ams-case-samsung-galaxy-nexus.aspx) which I got on Amazon for a fraction of that price & love by the way)
Just wondering if there's a fix... (i.e. going back to 4.1.1)

Most likely tower the towers are becoming more and more populated. Old people switch from their flip phones to smart phones everyday teenagers get their first phones etc...
Also as you stated with each android update especially from ice cream sandwich to jellybean update Google reworks the way signal is interpreted in the form of signal bars (they made it show more accordingly to usability). And yes your case could make a slite difference. Also the atmospheric conditions mostly temperature can effect the strength. I can't really see your case making a huge difference.
Also it's kind of rude to page in a rom post for people to help you with a non rom related issue even if asking politely.

Alright, I'll remove it. No big deal, I just thought that since they developed the Rom they may have a deeper understanding of what's going on than "some guy" browsing the Q&A section. I am on this Rom so it's kind of related (I thought) but if it's rude, then i'll fix it.
However, It doesn't explain how, if I switch back to 4.1, my signal comes back however with much faster download speeds (irregardless of amount of bars showing).
