[Q] IMEI non existent?

HI and thanks to anyone that can help on this!
a friend bought this from the US and it wont except any sim cards so i took it to a phone store and they have said that the phone does not have an IMEI?
can anyone answer this? if so how can i fix this?

Dial *#06# and check what msg pops up?
If it is null than its because of downgrading or wrong update
If its 00something than its a corrupt imei

You probably upgraded to a new firmware type of rom, then went back. This can cause the EFS(Root folder for some phone information) to be corrupted. Did you make backup(Which are most likely to be suggested in any rom thread found here)? That could solve your problem quick.

It's brand new never been used the problem is that someone bought it for me from the states, kinda hard to take it back... i also got an iphone but had no issues with that...
but, ill give that a go

[Q] Unbrick the E980

My phone is bricked, it's in the Qualcomm QDLoader mode (QHSUSB_DLOAD).
I took it to a shop to get it jtaged with the riff box but they could not get it to connect for some reason :crying: so I really need to get it fixed using USB.
It seems they have the solution here:

But I cannot figure out how to register and download the .hex and .mbn files. Of course I googled those files and got another ones but they did not work, the specific files for the E980 are needed.
Does anyone have access to those files in that forum?

As it is non-English do not know what the link is...however, if it powers up the return to stock worked for me...

That sounds like something beyond a simple flash back to stock. If you took it for jtag and they could not get it, your only real option is LG service.

LG service was my first option and they did not take my phone because it's an US model and I'm not in the US.
I just want the files from that link and try with QPST and see what happens

I already got the files. They are not good for the E980

It works fine for e980, of course you need e980's image file to make it work

You mentioned link that provided the positive solution for you.
Or you need simple to send LG to get warranty service.

Flashing the wrong baseband shouldn't kill the phone unless you somehow flash the baseband files to the boot parititon however that is pretty un-common under the circumstances.
Anyhow, try this first:

Hope it helps you fix your phone. If it doesn't, you can PM me. I am in Rawalpindi. Probably your device might need JTAG in that case.

Go for JTAG then. Write E975 boot to your phone using Riff. Your phone will be in download mode after repair.
F180S/K/L and E975 boots are inter-changeable. You don't need to worry about that.
If you have ORT, it supports F180 variants also. But Riff will also serve the purpose.
Hope you get it fixed soon.

First of all you post help in the wrong section.
It's against the law to change the IMEI so this fourm will not be able help you.

actually i dont wanna change it. i wanna restore it. i flashed a wrong zip and it got it messed up. cant recieve mobile network and imei says null

Well then, from what I know I the easiest way is through efs backup. I really hope you have made a full Rom backup if not I remember there was another method but it wasn't going to be easy. Hopefully someone here can guild you in that direction.

no I don't have a backup of the rom. I thought that the engineering mode menu can help. I saw a video tutorial online about it. And if u still have a better option pls guide me through

guaranteed there is someone in your city that changes imei, i know its illegal but a buddy of mine baught a stolen phone, and found out that the imei was blacklisted, the cops didnt do anything so he had to find another way out, online he found a person that changed it for him

I have flash a kernel in the phone did not want to restart finally I have succeeded at the restart it was there that I saw that there were more imei.
So now?
I tried to flash the original system and without success, I tried with mem Smart Switch but it does not work

sorry, you dont lose your imei by flashing a kernel..can't help you..

It was a sm-925f kernel on sm-925w8

download stock .TAR rom.....flash it via ODIN.
It will help.

No doesn 't work I did it. I find same codes now I can make call end network work but still no IMEI.

Lock in eBay, offer the remote imei repair

Since you're rooted, Samsung won't even reflash it. Sucks.

The only way for a user to restore their IMEI is to have done a backup originally before attempting to do any changes.
You need to take the device go the carrier for repair.
Altering changing or manipulating IMEI numbers on devices is illegal in some places and not something allowed for discussion on XDA.
