It was late one night and I was flashing files to my g2 and didn't notice I flashed an incompatible file and now I'm stick in fastboot mode. I tried to fix download mode so I could restore and get the image below. It is stuck there.

Get back into fastboot mode and replace the laf.img and boot.img using the v7 version instead of VC or VA

[Utility] Flash Image GUI

I'm not sure if it has been mentioned but I used this handy app back when I had my evo 3d on hboot 1.5 that locked the boot partition preventing a kernel flash in early twrp and cwm and it's also very handy using it to update recoveries too.
Gnex is supported and I have tested kernel img & zips along with recovery img and zips also.
Enjoy

yet another way for rooted users to get certain partitions back 2 stock without usb.
I love this application. I've been rocking it ever since it came out. It was definitely worth the purchase to support Joey.

Try Framaroot to root Your phone, but I don't know if Google Nexus is compatible...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2130276
You can't flash recovery without a PC and fastboot interface
If You wanna root Your Nexus, first flash the recovery via Toolkit or Command line terminal and then flash the Root using it.
