[Q] Unroot Telus HTC One M8 - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys new to the whole rooting world of android so there are some things I seem to have missed during this process ie. creating a backup of my stock rom.
I am trying to install an OTA update and I seem to be having troubles with this. Was hoping someone would be able to help guide me back to stock in layman's terms if thats possible.
Thanks in advance if anyone can help.

Rooting without changing ROM? Some questions.

I'm happy with the stock ROM that my unbranded Desire came with, but I'm thinking about rooting it to add some extra functionality - specifically two-way call recording and Titanium Backup right now.
Is it possible to root the phone without changing ROMs and/or losing all of my currently installed apps, settings etc etc?
If it is, what happens when ROM updates appear? Can I install the OTA updates or would I need to wait for someone to mod it to keep root enabled?
Finally, the same question but regarding 2.2. What happens when the official 2.2 update comes out? I'm guessing nobody knows for certain, but are we likely to be waiting a while before we can update if our phones are rooted?
I'd have thought this sort of thing would be covered in a rooting FAQ but I can't seem to find anything about it!
Much thanks for any advice.
I'm also very interested in the response to this, as a new Desire user I don't think that the rooting/rom upgrade guide is particularly helpful, it dives far too deeply into the topic before actually talking about the process, what it involves from a complete Desire newbie perspective.
In a word - no.
In a few more words, part of the rooting process has to replace your existing ROM.

[Q] backup t-mobile stock ROM prior to flashing/s-off/downgrade

HellotThere!
Up until now I just read your forums and followed the xda news.
I got myself a fine Desire HD.
Now I'm interested in rooting and flashing alternatives. But prior to that, I'd want to back up my stock t-mobile ROM, as far as it is possible, to restore it, if I want to use my warranty.
I read, that it's delivered with the 1.72 update. Anyway, my dumb self used the OTA Update.
As far, as I've read threads and other info sources, it is not possible to backup the original t-mobile germany DHD Rom, without downgrading. In all the downgrade tutorials i encountered, they used a stock HTC rom. Which my carrier would not accept in case of warranty.
Now, what I would ask:
Did i miss something? Is there a way to back it up without downgrading?
Or is there some kind of stock ROM, i could download? I didn't find it, despite my searching.
As i've said, i searched for some time. I hope, you can help me, should I've missed something.
I sincerely thank everyone, who invests some time helping me.
Otherwise I hope my english is somewhat acceptable.

[Q] Desire z 1.72 - temp root -ti backup -possible ?

As I am new in this waters maybe my Q is stupid for experienced members and I apologize in advance.
Found successfully the downgrade process and files for rooting my model but somehow i got used to sense atm and going trough rooting and restoring to factory ROM isn t exactly the dream work for noob in Android.
Is there a way to make a decent backup of the phone without perm root ?
Any other use of temp root?
Answers or simple redirections to other similar posts welcome and thank you.
Alex
bump
anyone ?
Anyhing changed in the meantime for 1.72? I also do not need root all the time, so temproot could be fine, but I see no solution so far.
Is it possible to keep phone officially updated and do temproot when needed?

[Q] Picking up the G3 Tomorrow (D852) How does one root and install TWRP on d852?

i can't seem to find much info on root/recovery for g3. i found a little bit about bump and stump.... saying that twrp is possible but not much hard reliable facts on the topic.
Can someone who knows what they are talking about or knows a link to someone who knows what they're talking about help me get informed?
Basically i just want to know the procedure, how reliable it is (what are the chances of bricking the device), and any other relevant info that may be available. Any help is greatly appreciated and i'll be looking forward to developing some themes for this phone .
Thanks,
KS
*edit* also wondering if anyone has tried backing up a rooted version of the stock rom and restoring it. Does this work? Or do you have to flash kdz to return to stock after trying out some custom roms?
follow this video... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j5T7By2Zqvk (you can skip the parts on installing the rom)

Help with upgrading i9100 stock to Lolipop

Hello guys, i am new to installing custom roms.
This will be my first install.
I have i9100 international version and want to upgrade it from stock 4.1.2 to lolipop mainly because my phone is old and lagging like hell.
Before i posted i have searched the forum and google and found some info but its still kinda confusing to me.
I was thinking to upgrade to CM12. CM13 i think will be too much for this old phone!
A lot of guides say that i must have installed a custom recovery. I dont have any...
trying to search how to do the above, i find that in order to do that i need to root my phone! This is where i get lost. Some say i need root, some say i dont!
Some guides say to use odin, some others to use bootloader or something....
Can someone that has done this give me some pointers or some step by step guide to read on how to do this?
Also, is it possible after installing the ROM to get my apps and my settings back? logs, sms, contacts, etc etc etc?
thanks for reading guys..
