Used G2 question - Sprint LG G2

Alright I picked up an excellent condition sprint G2 from a guy who soft bricked and boot looped it for 50$. I flashed it back stock so now it works again. The previous owner activated it on boost mobile monthly prepaid but decided to stop using the service. I checked the phones esn and it says its still activated on their account. Will the phones esn clear at the end of the month since its a prepaid plan? Sorry if this is a newb question

Evo 4g on virgin mobile

since virgin uses sprints tower would it be possible to use the evo on virgin because im think about buy a used one from a friend and i dont want to sign a 2 year deal
Nope would not work. If you really want a evo and your friend will sell you his then you would not need to sign a two year contract. The two is only required for people who buy a new phone or upgrade there phone and do not wish to pay retail price

why are you starting multiple threads for the same question?

the thing is that sprint doesn't a have plan where some one can buy a phone at full price and use it on a month to month deal or do they and i just cant find in on there webpage like with Verizon i bought a droid when they first came out but paid full price but used it mouth to mouth does sprint have somethink like that
Try going to a Sprint Corporate store and asking.
PROTIP: Bestbuy is not Sprint Corporate.
The Evo on metropcs works great for me for the $40 a month price, though you'll have to get the esn added through houdini in a non-official manner so to speak. Search craigslist and there'll be a ton of adds of people who can add the evo to the metropcs network.
so in other words, yes it's possible as the cdma radio hardware is the same,
however some people who are not lawyers think it's illegal to change the ESN
even though you're not stealing any service.
Protip: Sprint bought Virgin last week. They already had 51% share and decided to purchase.
Virgin does not allow flashed phones on their network (sprint). Now you can flash evo to verizon, cricket and metropc and other verizon based providers. Cricket is nice because for 55 you get android plan with everything unlimited and it runs on network that evo was designed for.
Nothing is impossible in our world.
Anyone out there dedicated and financially capable of trying? lol

You'd be wrong if you sincerely believed this.
Works with $25/month plan perfectly...

You had the Virgin Mobile Intercept though, not the Sprint one, right? It doesn't matter that they're technically the same network. They use different databases to check ESN numbers. You'd have to buy an Android phone from them (get the Optimus V, it's cheaper and better than the Intercept) and spoof the ESN of the Evo to match the other phone's. Make sure only one is turned on at a time though or the ESN will be banned, and since they'll have the same ESN neither will work!
Is it illegal? No. You're not scamming anyone. You'd still be paying the same amount of money. Plus, you own the original phone with the ESN you'd be copying, so it's not illegal.
I'm using HTC Evo on Cricket now, and next couple weeks I'll try to make it work on Virgin base on what I did to transfer from Sprint to cricket. Just change the prl ,ip .........I'll see
Google it and I found the prl from the thread called : How to flash a phone to virgin
Good luck everybody .
I think I know what thread you are talking about, does data work on the phone as well as voice?
I've heard of people getting talk and text working but not data, so far with the evo.
Hello, So I have an intercept already and just bought an EVO, how do you spoof the esn of the evo? I really need your help guys! Thanks.
I got the email, but I've never done it.

You can find out what the data settings are on howareforums, in a thread called How To: Flash a phone to virgin mobile, but they won't tell you how to change an esn.
Some people thinks it's illegal to change esn # so we aren't allowed to tell how it's done on most forums.
If you look around online and youtube you can find out.
If you end up getting it working let us know.

Can I Use The Phone With No Data?

Does anyone know if there is a way with a custom ROM to fool Verizon into thinking my Incredible is a sum phone so I am not required to have a data plan? I am about to get a Galaxy Nexus and would like to pass my Inc to my son, but don't want to pay for a data plan for him.
A long time ago I had an HTC Diamond from Sprint I was able to hack to work on Verizon. Since Verizon didn't reccognize it I wasn't forced into a data plan. It was awesome. Since then I believe they stopped allowing non recognized phones on the network.
Put it on page plus?

I dont know if this would work or not but a couple years ago i droped my samsung verizon contract phone in a pool and touch screen stoped working. I had an old prepaid verizon phone that i went on the site and registered and it worked fine. But i did not want to keep paying for data since the prepaid phone couldnt use it, so i cancled it thru the website and it let me.
So my thinking is if you buy a cheap 20 dollar verizon prepaid phone, activate it on your account in place of your incredible, cancel data plan, and then reactivate the incredible in place of the prepaid. It should work for calls but have no data. But really you could just activate the 20 dollar prepaid on your contract account thru the website, and have him use that.
I don't think there is. I've only seen being able to use a deactivated phone on wifi without service. Sorry.

Unfortunately you cannot, once the ESN is added to his phone number the Verizon activation system will automatically add the required data plan, there is no way to over ride it.
That is what i thought. I had forgotten it depends on the ESN. There was a brief time when Verizon was allowing non Verizon phones on the network, which was when I got the Diamond working. Since it Verizon didn't recognize the ESN it didn't force data.
Thanks anyway.

Back to Sprint from Cricket (or Boost)

My neighbor has a E4GT that was originally on Sprint that was flashed to Cricket (I think). He said he give it to me for $50 since he got an iPhone and went to AT&T.
I wanted to check if there's any way it could be flashed back to Sprint. Seems like a good deal if so.
Assuming it was on cricket it probably has a bad esn.. So the first step would be to check the esn status of the phone, which the code can be found under the battery. Call sprint and ask the status of it.
Even if it can't be activated on sprint its still a steal at $50.

Straight talk

Does anyone use the DINK 2 on straight talk and getting 3G
check ebay, you can remote flash your phone
there are listings on ebay where they will flash your phone remotely. You need to have it rooted and a data cable. i saw classified ad saying they did samsung phones for about 25-35 bucks. I texted them and they could do inc2 as well for 35 I even ordered the phone from walmart you need for the esn. I received it and was researching online and really think straight talk's big issue is cutting you off for going overboard on data usage. In some cases people lost their numbers.... I just activated my phone on page plus it $55 and only 2gb of data which could cause me issues. I downloaded a data usage monitor and have been on wifi since the port. I guess I can see how it goes the first 30 days and always try straight talk at a later date. By the way I was on Net10 before i switched to page plus on an att phone and it was awful. Verizon is so much better in my area. so i bought an inc2 on ebay and took the plunge... Hope I helped.
From what I read, this phone does not have the correct frequency to get 3G service on straight talk, so much for being a world phone.

The "world phone" part of the Inc2 was in reference to it working with the Vodafone service. A world phone does not mean that it will work everywhere you go in the world, all carriers operate under different frequencies. If you buy an unlocked GSM phone you have to make sure that it will work with the basebands of your carrier or else you may end up just getting Edge speeds instead of HSDP or HSDPA+.

I had sprint for years and noticed their service was getting worse in DC Metro area, went to Outer Banks, NC and couldnt make a call this past July 4th. I went to the Walmart to buy a temporary phone so i could work a bit while vactioning. The nice woman in Walmart said get the cdma-v Net10 phone (samsung proclaim) it will use verizon towers and that is really the best service around here. So i bought the phone used it a few days and ported my number to them. the one problem was that samsung phone was plastic and the earpiece sort of distorted the caller so I got an old att inspire 4g and bought a sim card ported my number to the sim card device (att) and couldnt believe how awful the service was. WOW, it stunk. I started reading up knowing I wanted Verizon service which in my area is far and away the best so I found Straight Talk and Page Plus could use verizon android phones and get the good service. I chickened out of signing up for Straight Talk only becaus I have heard of all the people getting service turned off so I signed up with Page Plus 55 plan which allows you to use the Verizon phones without flashing a new ESN. It works great but I am using the wifi now becaus the 2 gb limit could be an issue. I am going to give it 30 days to see how the data issue works out and if I am really having to change my habbits will probably try flashing to Straight Talk. So I am interested in seeing how it goes with someone on this forum instead random internet sites.
I have been checking into having it flashed, I think it's the best way to go, I'm going to hold off for a while before I decide to pay and get out of my contract.

Please elaborate!
I am currently on Pageplus and have the 1200 Talk & Text plan (1200 minutes + 3000 texts + 100mb data).
I use WiFi almost exclusively because the data plan is all but non existent.
What do you mean by "flashed out to Verizon $50"?
What plan are you on with Verizon?
DO TELL!
I bought a $15 throw away and the guy from eBay flashed the esn into my incredible leaving Verizon thinking its a Samsung gusto and for that type of phone they have the prepaid $50 unlimited everything plan so if you do it don't be afraid to go balls to the wall. I do every month its my way of giving Verizon a bit back in the end lol.

No its on Verizon prepaid network. All the goods of Verizon without the contract. If you flash it dont activate the prepaid phone till its all flashed over to the incredible 2. I wish I was able to do the flash my self I got the software to do it I just don't understand how its all done. The guys that do this keep it hush-hush on the how to's. I've had a few done already for me and my wife and everyone I get done they all work flawlessly.

They sell that deal to non 3G phones, right?
Are you getting 3G?
Also you said Samsung Gusto, I see these are expensive at the verizon website, the Gusto 2, but they sell the gusto phones on ebay cheap, 20 bucks, better than 200.
This thread has some valuable info.
The gusto 1 is new for $20 at wal-mart and so is the gusto 2 and both get 3g if they didn't you would get only what the gusto got in data.

So yes I'm getting full 3g speed to use as my data and for my WiFi tether. The incredible2 doesn't act any different when its been flashed I have both mine and my wife's rooted we change custom roms all the time. Just make sure after the gustos esn sticker is placed in you incredible after the flash is done then snap the gusto in half cause if someone else trys to activate the gusto it throws a red flag up let's Verizon know you cloned the gusto to another phone so I break them into a few pieces so they can't ever be used. I hope all I said has and will be helpful to you all.

[Q]I have an official Boost Mobile LG G2 phone. Root and flashing ROMs... possible?

There are close to zero threads about this subject but how do I go about rooting and flashing a new ROM to my phone? If you guys need more information or proof that it's indeed a Boost Mobile phone please don't hesitate
Here is the software information on my phone:
Android Ver: 4.4.2
Baseband is M8974A
Kernel is 3.4.0
Build is KOT49I. LS980ZVE
Software Ver: LS980ZVE
There are ZERO differences between the Boost and Sprint version.
Boost LG G2 LS980
The Boost LG G2 is the Sprint version repackaged as Boost. When you activate your phone, Boost updates the APN settings and installs its own bloatware to make it an official Boost phone. As far as rooting and flashing a different recovery, just search the multiple threads regarding this, they work.
I'm currently use CM12 latest nightly, it's the only rom/mod I have tried so far (works great.) The issue I ran into was getting the APN settings properly configured. I flashed an APN fix (developed by MopedRyder, junkie2100, etc.) for another phone and since been able to have a fully functioning phone using CM12 for boost. Supposedly it works for AOSP as well.
I'm not sure if this is a problem with other roms when flashed onto a boost lg g2, I can only assume it is.
There is a boost lg g2 thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-g2/help/boost-mobile-g2-t2989880
Hope that helps, good luck.

Considering the phone with boost in the average boost store is around 270+, that's still a pretty good deal for such a nice phone (i love the specs) this is the best phone I have ever owned. Plus having CM12 on there without all the google junk makes it just so damn smooth
I ended up on craigslist buying a Sprint LG G2 phone from a girl for $100. I haven't gotten around to taking it to an actual boost store yet. But, that BB deal is still on. I'm just curious how you guys are able to walk into BB and buy the phone without having to sign a contract when clearly the ad says in contract. I'm asking because BB is having a LG G4 sale for $100 and I'd like to get one of those for myself.

If the ad said $100 on-contract for a G2 and people have said they have bought it without a contract then it is an employee error or a misprint (I haven't seen that ad but a misprint seems unlikely).
I HIGHLY doubt you could walk out of Best Buy with a G4 *bought* for $100. You're probably looking at a discounted contract price or reduced installment-plan down payment.
I understand that, I even pointed it out on this board. But, loads of people said they went and purchased a G2 for $150 without a contract now I'm curious to see if I can do the same thing with Verizon.
