I am very interested in getting CM11 or Mahdi onto the Verizon version of the G Pad. I have no experience compiling code for Android and haven't compiled a Linux kernel in ages. Can someone point me to any how-tos on compiling ROMS? What needs to happen to make a ROM work on the VK810?
idk
I don't know but I would love one. I like the tablet, but I can't stand the skin.
Here is a very good tutorial > http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Development
once I (or someone else) brings up the cm11 devicetree for the vk810, then you can usually take the devicetree+kernel+proprietary libs, and build for any ROM that has open sources...

I need to know how to put together a pure AOSP 4.4.2 ROM, my build environment has been collecting dust and I've only just updated the build tools. Can someone tell me what repositories I have to sync and what the make/build command is for this device? Cheers.
I'd like to learn to compile a kitkat rom but I didn't find any guides or tips (i have no previous knowledge on how to build a rom) so I wonder if there's any guide for that.
Thanks
If you're trying to build CM from official source, CM's wiki has quite the resource for that, teaches you step by step from setting up your Linux environment to making the final bacon. I haven't built other ROMs yet, but steps should be similar.

Actually I plan on building something closer to stock android with very few custom features but I don't know how to do that yet. I'll try to build CM to get the gist of it,
Hello Devs,
I think the new Lollipop version is great but at the moment we only have CM12 ROMs for our S4 Mini. Can someone of you build a pure AOSP Lollipop ROM for our device that other dev's can use as base for other ROMs? I do not like CM and at the moment I'm using SlimKat but it looks like there is no update to SlimLP in the next days so it would be great if someone can build a pure AOSP LP ROM.
I would do it for myself but I have no experiance in ROM development. I found this thread but I'm not sure how to add our device. Also I found this and this repo on GitHub but I do not know which from them (or maybe both?) I need to compile the ROM or if I have to change something on them because they are for CM and not for AOSP. It would be great if someone can teach me these steps because this is often my problem when I try to learn something about Android ROM developemnt.
Yours sincerely
Cilenco
Cm12 at the moment is just aosp, give it a try it's very good
What would it take to get this baby some ROMs? I've had success porting ROMs in the past, and I've noticed that there is a few custom ROMs for smartwatches. I just have no idea where we would start. Anybody got any feedback?
I would also like to know but I guess you can make a stock based rom there is a perfect flashable back up here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/sma...rom-repacked-stock-rom-swr50-version-t2988087
I mean I don't know anything about roms but couldn't you just unzip this rom above add some custom apps/bootanimations ect... then rezip it?
I mean, you probably could. I'm looking to make something from source I guess. I'll have to poke around later to try and find the lollipop sources for it.

There is no source for Android Wear (with the exception of the stuff they have to release because of GPL)
Then it have to be stocked based
So I've tried all the ROMs, I've tried Stock (When I first got the phone) I then tried CM12.1, then FlexOS, then back to CM, then BlissPop, then back to CM, then Cloudy's ROM, then Back to c-... you get the idea.
I looked in to trying to compile my own kernel, because frankly there isn't an updated d855 CM12.1 kernel to be seen anywhere that has features to make CM the least bit smooth and I decided that with my coursework becoming a bigger part of my life that I would simply have no time to put in the work (Or the knowledge).
So what I'm asking is simple, can someone please compile a custom kernel for cm12.1? I love this ROM, the lack of customization features is a feature in itself for me considering I love AOSP, CM is perfect for my usage but I just need a custom kernel so that it can be complimented and optimized for the G3, thanks.
