[Q] Paranoid rom issues - Paranoid Android Q&A

Hey guys
I hope someone has some info on my issues, its kind of driving me nuts hahaha
The settings for toolbars and pie customization does not appear anywhere on the phone, before and after the latest paranoid 4.2beta5 update.
I also flashed the kernel and am using the franco latest release, still the same.
Oh and also the peek notification is activated and nothing appears at all.
Ive done the following clean install of updated ROM and kernel, cleared the dalvik cache a few times
If anyone has any idea whats going on some help would be highly appreciated
Thanks guys

[Q] Jaggernaut v2.5 - T989D Telus Rom Control for lockscreen = FC

I installed Jaggernaut v2.5 last night on my T989D Telus one and it FC at Lockscreen setting in Rom Control. Everything else seems to be running fine. I really want to get rid of the default lockscreen as it soo ugly. Anyone else is having problem with this?
I cant post it in dev area as I am new. Can anyone get the word out to them?
Phone is rooted. I followed the instruction. I don't have go launcher ex installed is it because of that?

Reading always helps. This has been answered at least 3 times in the last 10 pages.
Hi you need to reflash the ROM, and do a complete wipe before flashing ROM
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
I was having this same problem. It seems that if you restore the data from Tweak (Rom Control) with Titanium Backup and upgraded from Juggernaut 2.0, you will have this problem. Try wiping the data for Tweak in TB and it should be fully functional again. Worked for me anyways. I had to redo all the color customizations i had done previously though :/ I assume the menu wasnt built right in 2.0 but since there was nothing in it, it compiled without error.
PS I would write this in the actual Juggernaut thread but I dont have enough posts to post in the dev forum lol. If indeed this is the solution someone feel free to repost it there for me.

AOKP causing issue with T999L

Flashed AOKP version task650 I cannot access general Settings. I can get into ROM settings and KERNEL settings but when I try to access general settings I get a popup that says unfortunately, settings has stopped. Any idea on this or do you guys need anything else like a log file. If so could you please let me know how to get the log file. Thanks
Does no body have any thought on how I can fix this? I'm new to this ROM I am used to CM but changed because of the bugs in it. AOKP so far only has this one bug but I kinda need to access my settings. I flashed a newer nightly build that doesn't even have the settings option. So please any help would be great
No one can help you here as this is for a different model s3.
I will get a mod to move it for you.
Edit: Done, thanks @Faiz Malkani
Good Luck.
If the settings option was taken out of the newest nightly then that pretty says that its a known problem to the dev and will get fixed later

Hello There!
I currently have a T-mobile Note 3 Phone working with Metro PCS (Yes I switched the carrier) and everything seems to be working fine so far.
My phone is currently rooted and I also sucessfully flashed W03 SlimKat 27.1 so far I love this ROM.
My current kernel version is: 3.4.0 W03 Slim Kernel Tuesday Oct 7 2014.
Do you think I need this kernel update?: CAF-W03-Slim hlte v1.0i (10/10/2014)
If so, can you please tell me how to succesfully flash this kernel update? Do I need to wipe/clean the current kernel before installing this update?

You just flash it like a ROM, no need to wipe anything, just flash. You'll get to a menu asking for options, if in doubt, stay with the default and just hit next.
If you want to get back your current (stock ROM) kernel, just reflash the ROM without wiping anything and you're back.
It's always a good idea to make a nandroid backup, you never know

Hello There!
Just in case I wiped the cache and delvik cache before flashing your custom kernel.
I followed the menu options and I only flashed the kernel (your custom kernel) since I thought if I flash something else I will have to re do the settings and install my phone apps again.
If I want to go back to the default ROM's Kernel, just flash the W03 ROM and that's all? without wiping or deleting anything? How about my phone settings and apps? Will they still be there?

Yep.
But if you just flash my kernel (first menu choice) you're mostly on stock and don't profit from any of the benefits.
Reflash and go through the menus, just hit "Next" till you're through.
To get back, just reflash the ROM without wiping.
Your settings won't get lost.
But as I said, you should make a backup, it's always the safest thing to do.

First of all, thank you for your quick tech support.
I did reflash your custom kernel and this time many windows options appeared and I just hit next until the end.
Everything seems to be working fine but can you please in a user friendly language tell me 3 o 5 simple facts of the benefits of flashing your kernel?
Also what is Wipe Cache and Delvik cache? I read somewhere else that it is a good idea to do this in order to install a new kernel .

Well you do use :
- different governor (handles CPU frequency)
- different hotplug driver (faux's intelliplug, that's handling CPU on-/offlining)
- touchwake (allows to wake the device by touching the screen when it times out)
- fastcharge (allows charging faster on USB chargers)
- etc. etc.
Might be worth having a read here and then here (Changelogs).
Dalvik cache wiping for kernels is useless, it won't hurt, but you'll lost time as you'll have to wait for it to be rebuilt on boot ("Android is updating your apps..."), cache partition can be usefull in my kernel's case, as it will help Aroma with an issue that sometimes settings don't get generated, so that you can do, won't cost much time. But in general for all kernels not using Aroma (menu system you saw while flashing), there's no need.
JP.
Hello, I would love to test Google's new Inbox on this GEM of a Rom. Anyone have an invite ?

I'm currently running v27. Is it safe to dirty flash to 28? Do I need to flash to 27.1 first?
Also I've noticed that video playback freezes occasionally when I seek repeatedly. Is this a common issue? Does it get fixed in the new release?
My smart cover only activates while closed and power button is pressed and not through calls. Is there an option to enable smart phone covers or has it not been implemented?
Safest way to update from V27.1 with Yank555 custom kernel to V28?
I have a similar question:
I am currently running V27.1 with Yank555 custom kernel but I would like to try out this V28 ROM update but I don't want to download and install my apps and settings all over again since they are a lot.
I am also using Nova Launcher and it looks like Nova Launcher was remove from V28.
Does any body know what will be the safest way to update from V27.1 (with Yank555 Kernel) to V28 (with the Stock kernel)?
Has development stopped on this rom? Not getting any news updates. Thanks in advance.

Does this rom work on international note 3?
protected apps v28
I'm really liking this ROM. Great job.
I wanted to know if the protected apps feature is still in this ROM somewhere. If so, I can't seem to find it. Or, was it stripped out?
Hi everyone
I've been reading alot about this ROM and I really want to give it a shot
problem is ,, I have CWM recovery installed ,, can I use it to flash or TWRP is a must?
go easy on me, I'm a noob in all sense of the word
edit: boy.. looks like the last question to be answered was 6 months ago!!
Hi guys. I'm pretty new at this whole flashing thing and I've been working on a Note 3 (N900T) my uncle wasn't using anymore. I have been working on this for a few days now and this is the first thread I've come across that has a lot of success. I'd appreciate the help. I've tried to install the ROM from this thread but I got "e: failed to verify whole-file signature" when trying to install. Here's what I've done so far.
Wiped cache/user data.
run the ROM from the SD card (fat32) then that's when i get the error message.
Thanks in advance for the help.

I'm having the same problem as dewey1973 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=55932521#post55932521 - I don't have enough posts on my account to post there.), no LTE on M11. Except it's on RingPlus instead of Ting. I've tried flashing different apns-conf.xml files but they're no longer working in M11 while they were in M9 and M10.

Have any of you tried taking the APN fix for boost mobile and just changing the APNs to what you need and flashing that?
If you're talking about this (can't post regular links yet, sorry)
Code:
androidforums.
com/boost-mobile-galaxy-s3-all-things-root/840501-mod-universal-boost-apn-fix-d2lte-builds-mod.html
then it looks like that worked! Thanks! I had tried a few other APN fixes that didn't work so I had been looking for another way. I'll send a PM to dewey1973 so he can post it in the main thread.
EDIT: It was working for a while but then stopped working. I'll test it more and update when I get a chance.
Well can anyone help me figure out how to fix the aspect ratio with the front facing camera in the latest few snapshots?? The default camera front facing is fine, but third party apps like snapchat distort.. For example, a perfect circle (a coin) will turn into an oval shape up and down. It's driving me crazy

This is a known issue. Shouldn't affect anything or prevent you from installing apps though.
It does interfere a little with setting up google voice, but can be handled by manually editing voicemail options
Battery Life M12
I just flashed to stock to get the modem update, then did a clean install of M12 + gapps + Ting APN's, and my battery life is just tanked. I have the phone plugged into USB currently, with Wifi on, bluetooth off, gps off, and I can't even break even on the charge; I'm at 11% and falling fast. I was on M9 (or M8? I can't remember) before this, and didn't have a problem like this. Is there any known issue with battery life in M12?
ADB Debug
I'm on the latest nightly, can everyone else enable ADB? I enable it and within the second it crashes. The catlog says:
Code:
got -1 reading
Communications error
Java.io.IOException: No such file or directory
Is this just me or a Nightly thing?

I had M12 for a while, I didn't have too much of a battery life problem, you can add the Performance Profile Tile to the Quick Settings Panel and change it from balanced to power save. I always recommend getting better battery stats, created by XDA Developer chamonix, it's not free but its excellent to see exactly what is draining your battery. Kernel Wakelock, Application Wakelock, or an Alarm or something. As always keep radios, modems and such upgraded.
No MMS or data when flashing the VMU APN fix on CM12.1
I flashed the APN fix and I don't have any data or MMS on CM12.1. Can anyone help me or post an APN fix I can use that will solve this problem for me?
Is anybody using this 12.1 ROM? Feedback? I am using the aicp ROM and it is awesome
Check out the Official 12.1 Builds for D2Spr!!

So, I'm assuming flashing the CM12.1 would need to be a clean flash after a full wipe if coming from CM11, correct?

Sprint S3 CM 12.1 nightly boot loop
I did a fresh install of cm-12.1-20150514-NIGHTLY-d2spr and Im stuck in boot loop. Tried older versions too and I get the same result. Can anyone help me, I'm running CWM 6.0.4.5
Please Help!!!
I have been searching the forums & Google for the past 2 days trying to find an answer to my question: Does the *stock* cm12.1 kernel (official nightlies) come with an alternative to MP-decision (hotplug) & thermald?! I'm desperate to know!! I've installed kernel adiutor and noticed a message stating that if my kernel has an alternative, to disable the option in the app... So I'm confused & haven't been able to find any info at all on the stock cm12.1 kernel, or what features it has, which would be very helpful & nice to know! Thanks in advance to anyone willing to help me out! Any info at all would be highly appreciated!!
Just incase it matters I'm using the d2spr official CM12.1 Nightlies, & I'm on the 5/24 build. Thanks!!!

Status bar color...
I've had the latest DU rom on my Nexus 7 for about a week now, and yesterday when I tried to change the color of the status bar I had an FC. Stating android system ui stopped working. I rebooted a few times and it wouldn't let me past the lock screen. Finally I left it alone and when I tried again it let me get in long enough to change the status bar back to default color. It's been working fine ever since. I have no idea what was up with it. Just thought I should share in case it is something. Thank you! And I absolutely love DU!!!!
Navigation Bar Button Actions
Hi!
Thank you for this amazing ROM! It will probably become my daily driver. It's fast, customizable, and stable.
I have looked and looked... how can I change the actions for the navigation bar buttons? I mean like regular press and long press. I found the long press back button kills app feature, and I found the navigation bar add/remove buttons section in dirty tweaks, but I couldn't figure out how to change their actions.
Also... the chamber shortcuts? I recall a button (in a different rom?) that activated them. In this rom, I was trying to add an action to something (the ring?), and "chamber shortcuts" was an option. None are available. Is there a hidden box I tick to activate them somewhere? I can keep looking if it's a... secret.
Have to agree.one of my favourite roms
[Q]Stuck after flashing DU
Hi,
After I've flashed Dirty Unicorns 4.4.4 {flo} and Gapps, then reboot my device. I get stuck after the google disappears.
I'm just getting a black lighted background. Does it really take that long or I'm missing something?
Here's what I did when I installed the ROM:
Wipe data,system,cache
Installed DU and gapps (I've also tried installing DU first then reboot but I also get stuck with the black screen)
wipe cache
reboot
Thanks
ok
it looks ok
Has anyone been having issues with multi user? Nothing but crashing while trying to setup th3 other user. So far have done a factory reset, cache and fresh install. Tried banks and PA gapps... None of the common fixes are working. Crawled the previous thread with no answer. Any help would be appreciated.
I'm having a problem with the camera on this ROM. The camera seems to compress everything so everything looks much thinner and taller/longer than it should. This happens on the camera app and snapchat

Hey guys, really loving the ROM! I just flashed the latest twrp and the SuperSU 5.0 image coming from stock 5.0.2 last night and was having trouble with granting permissions, it would just get stuck and wouldn't let me choose anything. I went ahead and backed up in twrp and flashed DU and all went well. Although I still have the sticking on the permission windows and the SuperSU app isn't showing up in the app tray and won't allow me to open it from the play store. I was recommended to flash the SuperSU 2.45 update which I did successfully in twrp and I'm still getting stuck on the permission window, any help or suggestions I would be very much appreciate. Thanks!
Edit: fixed it, just needed to uninstall and reinstall SuperSU! Thanks y'all
N00b question:
When coming from previous DU (5.0.1) to the latest (5.0.2)... in Recovery, do I wipe system/cache then flash rom, OR flash rom then wipe system/cache?
Thanks.

DU Weekly 5/19 flo
ROM is even smoother and fluid with this most recent build. Thanks.
Well, here we go.
I've been eye-balling this ROM for awhile now. I was going to try it on my Nexus 6, but I have been getting incredible stand-by / screen time that I can't really justify rooting the phone right now. But I do have a Nexus 7 (2013), and I'm going to absolutely flash Dirty Unicorn today. Not sure how long it will take me, but I'm looking forward to the process!
Thanks in advance for the work you've done for the community.
Edit: Flashed, and now installing everything! Thanks again. Looking forward to using it!
special functions missing
Hi,
great work! ...but I am missing functions like
"extended screen" (auto-hide status and nav bar)
hold and press "back" to close apps
swipe at status bar to change brightness
Many thanks in advance..!
Any chance you might build it for the lte version of the nexus 7 too? I love this rom on my nexus 5 and want to use it as well on my nexus 7 2013 lte (deb). Regards
Mayb i missed it when reading thru but... Does the included kernel support fastcharge?
