Hey everyone,
just wanted to post this out there so other people don't make the same mistake.
Before anyone says how stupid this was of me, read the title
So I bought my tab just after it came out in the US and travelled back to Europe. The battery was amazing and had lasted for 30 hours before running low on charge. I decided that the white charger that came with my black unit was just not going to cut it and without even thinking I was using a different charger with the device. Device recognized the charge and accepted it (with a 2 second delay)... KEEP IN MIND: US is 110V Europe is 220V! Long story short, I fused the whole tab and it wouldn't turn on.
What is most weird about this situation is that I regularly charge up my OG Droid with that same charger and that ancient thing has a pre-built fuse protector in it. Seems odd that they wouldn't incorporate that technology into new devices such as the Samsung Tab Pro series.
Anyhow, I first started an online Chat and basically told them the screen wouldn't work or the device wouldn't turn on. I just played dumb
The guy ran through all the troubleshooting for the device and then went ahead and printed out a return label.
Thank heavens I had decided to postpone rooting making my warranty worth something.
Sammy repaired it in about a month (!) and I should be receiving it back soon!
lesson learned: don't use other charges and only use the ugly white one that came with the device
Thanks for reading.

Hi all,
well I'm not happy at all. I am on the 3rd Nexus so far, the first one started having the phantom charging issue within about 2 weeks of owning it. That went back for repair, but when it came back I walked out the store and it would not turn on! Went back and the swapped it for a 'new' one. I say new but I'm not sure as I didn't see the box being opened. I started having problems with that one within a month or two, same again. Also every now and again it would not switch on easily without plugging it into a PC or something.
Anyway, I recently woke up one morning and the battery had died over night, tried to charge it with no luck. I have tried everything, the USB trick, leaving it overnight, all sorts. When I plug it into a USB port I get the ding dong noise, but about 4-5 seconds later it disconnects, then re-connects... and cycles again and again.
Well took it back to the shop and sent for repair and it came back exactly the same, because they say they found water damage!!! This is total rubbish and the photo 'evidence' they provided did not convince me at all! I have since opened the phone up and the tiny bit of residue on the top left of the main PCB looks more like flux than a water mark to me. The moisture sticker is fine and the area in question has hardly any components there, just a cap and resistor. I am an electronic engineer by trade and I know it would take more than that to break it!
I am certainly not going to lie down and let Vodaphone crap on me for a phone that has been well looked after and is old about 8 months old, there is no way that I'm prepared to pay £45 a month for the next 8 months for nothing!
I have ordered a new USB PCB so I will try that when it arrives but I'm wondering if anyone has had similar issues and managed to resolve them? I haven't got another battery I can try but I would be surprised if it is that?
Hi all, I'm pretty lost here. My Note II (N7100) suddenly won't charge. Earlier today it charged just fine. I've only ever run stock with root on it. It's not the charger, it's not the cable. I've tried many of both, all of which worked before, none of which work now. I flashed back to stock recovery and did a factory reset, and the problem persists.
When I plug it into a charger while off, briefly a gray battery screen with what looks like a stationary 'wait spinner' will pop up and then the screen will turn back off again. I know the USB port is not totally FUBARed, because I can flash it with heimdall in Linux. It shows up in lsusb when in the bootloader, but not otherwise. The port is pretty much spotless, especially compared with that on my GNex, which still works fine.
I've tried leaving the battery out for an hour, holding the power button, etc. It almost seems like a problem that could be solved by discharging some capacitors, but battery pulls always solved those on my Galaxy Nexus.
Any thoughts on other things I can try?
I can't even figure out how to contact Samsung support in case this is somehow a warranty/hardware issue. At least on their US site the N7100 isn't even an option in the pulldowns they want me to go through.
After some calls to Samsung USA and Canada, I gave up. Apparently the phone is from the UAE, for which Samsung USA has no phone number, and their repair centers won't touch it if it's international. This is really stupid and I plan to write to Samsung about it. It had only been three weeks since I ordered it, so I am returning it to the Amazon seller for a refund. I'll let them deal with their supplier in UAE I guess. I hate to do that, but it seems to be a hardware problem and I have no other recourse at this point.
I cant really help here but i wanted to let you know i had the same problem with a white note 2 from Carphone Warehouse in the UK, just stopped charging after owning the phone for 2 days (i had also only rooted and running stock rom).
Carphone warehouse replaced the handset for me and havent had a problem with the new one so far but its made me take extra care when plugging or unplugging the usb cable ( i use Airdroid for file transfers now). I guess there must be a defect with a limited few usb ports on the note 2.
I thought it might be a 3rd party usb cable to blame (i use a blackberry usb cable at work but ive stopped that now and only use the official Samsung cable).
Sorry i cant help just wanted to share my experiences, hope you get it sorted, good luck!
Thanks for chiming in Steve, good to know I'm not the only one. I saw another post on here like that too, maybe it was yours? There was no discussion. The strange thing is ODIN worked just fine. Maybe a loose connection only on one/both of the power pins?
Nah it wasn't me mate, I had just put it down to me being heavy handed and thought nothing more of it till I saw your post.
I've seen a post in the Jellybam thread today about the charging being down to software but I don't know how true this is as i've yet to check the facts.
Did you manage to get it replaced? I remember it was the worst feeling in the world when the realization hit that my phone wouldn't charge.

Yeah I just invoked the Amazon.com return policy, sent it back for a refund, and ordered another one. It was supposed to arrive today, but apparently UPS had some kind of mechanical issue and now it's delayed until tomorrow. I just need it to get here before my next month's Verizon plan bills so I can cancel before paying another month.
Sorry to drag up an old thread but this has just happened to me, EXACTLY the same as OP.
I've reset it, wiped everything, re-flashed latest stock firmware. Tried 3 different cables and two different chargers.
Pretty sure the battery is good because if I take it out of the phone and charge it on the dock, it works fine. If I then put the battery back into the phone, the phones works in every way except it wont charge
I have most of my digital life on this thing, I am so screwed without it. Look like its a warranty repair job then? Ive had the phone about 3 months from Phones 4U :crying:

Happened to mine to T-mobile version. Never dropped it, never got it wet, only 1.5 months old.
WTF? Seriously?
Behavior:
Charges sometimes.
Charge sometimes stops at 70% or less.
Screen sensitivity screws up sometimes.
Data constantly being transmitted whether WiFi or cell network.
Never dropped.
Never wet.
Never harshly impacted.
Never rooted.
Tried factory reset.
Tried pulling battery.
Tried different chargers and cables.
Wondering if the trident aegis case put too much pressure on the charger cable by pushing it sideways with the flap.
Any ideas?
Hardware problem.

Check in the box, and if you have an EROS Group sticker on it that means it's covered under warranty here in Dubai, UAE as they are the main distributor here for Samsung products.
Sent from the rabbit hole.
This happened to me yesterday after spilling tea on it. I took the device apart as per this video, checked the connectors and reassembled it. Voila, the charger is working again. Obviously I take no responsibility etc etc.
My Samsung Galaxy Note 2 wont charge
I have also had this problem where my galaxy note 2 wont charge. I have tried all the chargers i have used successfully in the past and none of them will charge it now. I had the problem some weeks ago and now it has happened again. I only purchased the phone in January 2013. It is very frustrating. I have never dropped my phone or damaged it in any way what so ever. I have no idea what the problem could be but i will be taking it back to Telstra as i need it sorted out.
Same problem here - is this a generic problem with the Note 2??
I always put my phone on charge overnight , woke up yesterday and it hadn't charged. Swapped batteries - no problem - then put original battery back in, hey presto, charging!
But since then both batteries have run out and I couldn't get either to take any charge. Got it plugged in now and just like other people I've got a static charging ring showing, And no power.
Bought an external charger to try and get round this, but has anyone come up with a proper solution??

Strange...
a mate of mine just mentioned to me today that his note was charging strangely recently, apparantly he took an air gun (on low setting) to the charging port to blast out any miniscule dust n stuff and that fixed it!
Seems they're very sensitive and the smallest thing can make it act strange

Hey there, this is my second post on here. I'm amazed that it's my second time having bad experiences with the Zenfone 2 when I see everyone so happy with it. Ok, here I go.
A month ago, my (one month old) phone died, you can check the issue and answers here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone2/help/zenfone-2-charging-dead-t3149072
I asked for a replacement and was denied, sent the phone for RMA instead (spent around $90 to send it and another $10 to get it back, cause I live in South America and had to pay for any costs sorrounding mailing).
I was pretty frustrated already, because I had chosen to spend $200 for a phone for the first time in my life and I ended up spending $300. I expected it to return at least in better shape than how I sent it. When it got back, it had a deep scratch on the case cover that barely missed the camera lens by a milimeter (apparently someone used an xacto knife to cut the foam wrap open and did it so well it even cut through the phone, real classy RMA service indeed).
I emailed Asus about the problem and wrote a review on Amazon posting the before/after pictures and whatnot. Asus replied they'd send me a new case cover at no cost, which I was really satisfied with. The phone worked fine for 10 days.
Yesterday when I woke up and turned off the phone's alarm clock, it went dead and then it started turning on and off repeatedly on its own. I got scared so when it turned on finally, I turned it off and left it like that the whole morning cause I had to go to work. At 12:30 in the afternoon I decided maybe it was a good time to check on it and when I grabbed it I realized it was really, REALLY hot, like 'about to burst into flames' hot. I freaked out and pried the case cover open and took out the sim and memory card, left the phone on the floor so that it would cool down. An hour later it was still hot. Two hours later it cooled down but it kept turning on and off on its own.
I only use Asus accesories and I've never dropped the phone, I've never rooted it nor customized it in any way (haven't even had time to do much with it, actually) so what's happened just eludes me. I'm really mad about this and I want to ask you what I should do.
I sent an email to Asus asking for a refund, but even IF they do agree to that I'll have to send the phone back, and by the time this is over I'll have spent the price of two Zenfone 2 in, like, 3 months.
I don't even have money left to buy another phone, I'm not sure what I should do and want to ask if anyone here has experienced similar issues or knows how to solve this.
Is ASUS Customer Service and RMA always like this? Is it because I live very far away and can't sue the reason they might not be taking my case seriously?
Sorry if it's too long or rant-ish, I'm just over my head with this phone x_x
thanks!
Hello there,
Yes I had the same turning on and off problem so I sent it for repair through RMA.
You can check my post I made on Zentalk here : http://www.asus.com/zentalk/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=26940
I experienced the same issue when experimenting with smart lock. Turning on smart voice and smart location sent my phone into a series of reboots . Once I turned them of things returned to normal.
Sent from my ASUS_Z00AD using Tapatalk
Smart lock wasn't on, as far as I know (nor smart voice or smart location).
I sent my complaint to ASUS last week, it's been five days now and it should've been answered within 48hs. I'm fuming now. Phone still doesn't work.

Dear Blasterkat101,
In regards to the power issue, is the phone charging showing any LED indicator light when power is connected?
Have you tried a different USB cable?
Please visually inspect USB cable and connector port on the phone to see if there is any obstruction or damage.
Have you tried connecting to a PC to see if it can be recognized?
Sincerely,
Frank

I feel your pain. I purchase my ZF2 in July, it failed in September with the cover sensor constantly thinking I was opening and closing the phone. I paid $25 for the advanced RMA, then sent me a replacement phone that was well used and stained.
The stained phone worked good for about a week, then the power button failed. I paid the $25 for another advanced RMA, they sent me a brand new phone (looked new in box) and this one was also a dud. Would not power on at all, and wouldn't respond to being connected to the charger.
Now I have to RMA this 3rd phone, wait for it to be processed (can't have 2 RMA's at the same time) and try to open a new standard RMA after Thanksgiving.
In the mean time, I'm using my Nokia 1520 with Windows 10 (another converstation)
I know that ASUS is not a top tier provider, but this has been an unbelievable process.
Had one do that
I love my zenfone 2 so much that when my son needed a new phone I got him one. His did the same thing after 2 days. After fussing with it for 20 minutes I was able to get it into the factory recovery. A factory reset later and his phone was fine.
I had purchased 2 ZenFone 2, 1 for me and my wife on 5/11/2015.
Well my wife's Zen2 wouldn't turn on and it had a full charge 3 days ago.
I've tired a hard reset connected to a different usb cable and also charger, messed with it for 2 days and NADA it was DEAD......
She doesn't use the phone much maybe 1 gb of data for the month and under 100 mins and she hates to text..
But I did get the extended warranty from Newegg for $25 per phone and they will email you a gift card for the same price of what I paid for the phone.
As soon as the Tracking info hit UPS the gift card came in my email within 36 hours and I ordered her The ZenFone 2 Laser which should be here Tomorrow hopefully she will be happy with it.
Zenfone2
My support experience with ASUS has been truly awful. Has anyone else seen this happen? It's almost like ASUS knows the phone is a dud, and they're just going through the motions.
Hi all,
My wife's 5x appears to be very dead. I haven't found any similar issues on this phone or any other so I thought I would share and also see if anyone has advice.
So her battery was low and so my 4 year old says "Let me help you with that Mom, I will go plug it in." A few moments later he says "Hey mom, it isn't working" as he shoves the end of the baby monitor wall wart in and out of the headphone jack. The wife plugs the phone into the correct charger but it doesn't seem to work. She used her phone for a little while longer before the battery died.
Best I can tell putting the 7.5 volts across the headphone jack blew up a circuit in the phone that also charges the battery. I messed with it awhile and the charging screen did come on one time briefly but I haven't seen it since. The USB port had been perfectly fine before.
I took the phone apart to take a look but it didn't tell me anything I didn't already know. It looks like a new motherboard would be needed to fix it and would probably cost more than the phone is worth.
So in summary the only thing that should be plugged into the headphone jack are headphones.
Any advice? Know a magic fix? We are both perfectly happy with our 5x's and had no plans to upgrade. She needs a Fi compatible phone so options are limited. The Moto x4 doesn't seem like much of an upgrade, new pixels are way too much phone and too much money, the old pixels are more than I want to spend for a used phone. I am thinking I will just pick up a used 5x from swappa as they are going cheap and I won't be out much, just worried about getting the BLOD, we have avoided that so far but it scares me more when getting a phone of unknown history. Would I be crazy to buy a used 5x knowing about the potential of the BLOD?
Thanks

Not necessarily, LG has been fixing out-of-warranty 5X phones with the bootloop problem. I don't know if they'd extend that courtesy to the 2nd owner of a phone but you can probably find out more by searching the 5X forums for recent posts with "LG repair warranty" in the text.
Thanks,
It looks to be a little bit of a crap shoot if a secondhand warranty will be honored but I think might just do it anyway. At least it is a pretty small investment if it would fail and not be covered under warranty.
I think I will give it a shot on the current phone for the extended warranty also but expect to be quickly shoot down. It was bought through project Fi two years ago but what I've read seems to indicate only the BLOD is being covered by the extended warranty.
I wish there were more options for project fi phones on the budget end. Should I be considering the X4 or second hand 1st Gen pixel?
So last year I got my first Note 10 Plus 5G And it was all fine apart from it wouldn't update so I downloaded the update and flashed it by oden but it seemed to be a copy of Samsung’s own software the type used in shops so I spoke to Samsung and they told me to send the phone to TMT in Manchester UK which I did and they would reflash it and send it back so after a month they finally got back to me and told me it was running Samsung’s software and should have never been sold to me I Explained why it was running said software but they didn’t care and Samsung took the phone and told me to message the seller on amazon to which they couldn't help as in Samsung’s eyes they had sold a phone that should never have been sold!
So after about 2 months back and forward messaging Amazon, the seller, Phone calls from Samsung I had to give in and let Samsung have the phone and loose the £450 the phone cost me with no compensation from Samsung or Amazon so my only option was to buy another... So got the money together bought another one had no issues but the battery was lasting for 3 hours the battery part on the phone would tell me it has at least 2 days of charge.
So, September comes along and I paid another £109 to Samsung for one of their partners WeFix as they were then to come and put a brand-new battery in to the phone as I thought this is no good it’s lasting 3 hours and not even worth using hell my A30s lasted up to 1 and a half days maybe longer the way I used it… Which the note 10 plus 5G got its new battery and it was fine at first but now I’m leaving the house at 11am with 100% and coming home at 2.40pm with 39% which by the time we get the shopping put away and get sorted it’s about 3.10pm and I get upstairs to look at my phone it’s hitting 15% and basically a few minutes later it’s on 5% and the phone may have the worsted chipset for battery but it’s on all the lowest settings it’s always got most stuff not needed turned off and the only time I use it when in the house or out is for taking photos and or listening to music when out..
There’s no 5G on my network Labara round here so it’ not that it’s using 5G when out and about.
The phone it’s self I can go to bed for a few hours power it off at about 55% and wake up power it back up and it’s at 20% this can’t be right surely?
So, I got back in touch with WeFix who are now LikeWize repairs and they have said because after the phone’s battery was replaced it was refurbished to Samsung warranty condition for 1 year after the repair so I’d have to contact Samsung to get them to deal with the issue and send LikeWize to look at the phone again. That’s allot easier said than done too!!
So my only option before talking to Samsung on the phone or on Live chat is going to be to ask here I used to be here quite a bit back in the day of having the note 3 when I was in to rooting and stuff now day’s I’d not know where to start nor want to risk it really but I know everyone was always whole heartedly helpful here so I thought I’d see if anybody knows why a phone that tells me with my settings I use on the lowest and all the recommendations to keep the battery life up saying I have got 2 and a half days charge is lasting a max of 3 to 4 hours and it’s done? Because it’s beyond me what has caused this issue to happen from day one the fact, they put these features on the phone are meant to be there for you to make use of but I Can’t make use of any of them even the lowest settings again are all just draining the phone with in hours literally…
Thanks for any help that anybody can give/suggest would be great I Know the phone was not formatted after the repair which they say the phone will be formatted so back it up before you get the repair done but that didn’t get done so I don’t really see it being something so simple but I don’t know if it could be something to do with that.
Thanks again, Kind regards, Pete.
To eliminate damage to the electronics, note the battery status in the evening and turn off the power. In the morning, turn it on again and check the battery status.
If the difference is small, then you must find a software cause.
Thanks for that mate! I will do that tonight I've factory reset the phone having to set everything up again is a royal pain but just encase something was causing it I decided best bet was to just go back to the start

So, I decided to go ahead and format the phone start over from factory and well it seems to have worked! Yesterday morning Wednesday 2:00AM The phone was charged to 100% and since then it was being used allot more than normal it was 5:30AM Thursday morning when the phone hit 15% so I'm hoping that it was just something silly causing the issue because it seems to be keeping battery now, say if I go to bed with 95% and switch the phone off turn it back on when I get up it's at 93% maybe even 94%! So, it seems to have done the trick time will tell I suppose but all seems to be good
