Bluetooth sucking too much power - Xperia Z1 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am running the 681 rooted.
Yesterday I noticed that Bluetooth is sucking WAY too much power. I used the phone normally, had about 50-60% power left when I went to bed, forgot to plug it in, went down to 30% during sleep. When I looked at the consumption chart BT was accountable for 30% of power usage, screen only 14%.
This is very weird. I use BT seldomly for handsfree vehicle calls. But it is on all the time, as I use it to fire up apps through Tasker whenever it detects my cars handsfree. This was never a problem or power hog on my HTC.
Anyone know whats going on there?

Are you on the same version of Android?
Well, as others have the problem too it is obv. not something unique to my configuration.
I just upgraded to .757 and will keep an eye on it. Hope the problem is eliminated in the new versoin.

I'm on .757 and have this issue, not notice this when I was on Android 4.3.

Hi guys,
I've had the same issue I believe there is a bug in the KitKat update which causes bluetooth not to switch off even after you disconnect as you can see from your battery information your phone has been awake I haven't been to sleep please follow this link for a partial solution,

Thanks for the info, just as I had suspected. My wife's z1c don't have this issue, the only thing different between our phones is that I'm pairing with My Ford Sync and hers is Nissan.
I'm so regret in buying this phone, especially that I've traded in my beloved HTC Butterfly for this piece of cripple phone, even my other cheap chinese phone is much better and stable than Sony and only costs half the price of z1c.

Just do a further test, looks like Throw could be causing the problem. Notice that whenever I switch on bluetooth Throw will pop up running and asking to connect to Sync, wtf my car is not even started or power up outside my house?!!!
Any one know how to disable Throw completely?

Nope, it makes no difference that Throw is still running. Come to think about it, Throw may not be the problem as it is also running at my wife's z1c and her bluetooth doesn't drain so much battery. I think the problem is z1c's Bluetooth doesn't goes well with My Ford Sync... so it's not only Toyota's TG. Switching Bluetooth off and then on does help.

Notice also on and off NFC consume some battery, like 3~4%, and I don't even use or have any NFC device. I can't believe after 2 up updates and the phone still has bug.... It's really a bad ideal to buy this phone, especially for a user like me who switched from a premium phone (HTC Butterfly) to this cripple phone and paid for a premium price.

I decided to wait until the 2nd or 3rd batch to avoid some mishaps and slowdowns...Also to wait till we get some devs over here and possible root by than. We all know the hiccups that come with the first batch of phones(Especially coming from the G2X lol) But all in all what have you been experiencing problem wise....Please Share
Thanks.

Honestly I have no serious issues with this phone. The very little I have is checkerboarding in the browser (although the browser is fast and smooth as hell), home button seems to be the only button on the phone that lags (this is definitely a software issue) and screen resolution isn't as sharp as I am used to coming from the Sensation.
The pros on the GS2 definitely outweigh the cons so I'm happy with my purchase. Coming from the Sensation I was faced with wifi/data signal issues, overheating, lag (mainly on stock software), and a few random reboots and so far I have neither issues with the GS2. I recommend this phone to all!

Those are my only issues too. I can't really say they are issues because the browser checkerboarding was known before purchasing. They all do it. The home button taking a little bit to react has to be from the double tap on the home button option. This can be fixed and i'm hoping it will be on an update.
Im experiencing that its not a sensation..... You're wasting time waiting for a new batch. The phones flawless unless it has a brushed metal screen.

The only con I am experiencing is I seem to have trouble charging this thing with anything other than the included AC adapter. I cannot charge this phone while it is connected to a computer with the screen on and streaming music.
I think the radio in this phone is a bit weak as well, I have trouble getting reliable service while inside large buildings.
Otherwise it is an excellent phone. My 4g speeds are 14900 Mbps, I've had a 3700 Quadrant, and battery life is exceptional. I went to sleep at 0300 with a charge of 80 and woke up at 1000 with a charge of 71. Compared to MotoBlur, Touchwiz seems to be a lot easier on the battery while idle.

Definitely agree with it. I came from the Sensation and it would overheat. This phone barely gets hot even while charging! Maybe that's why Samsung phones charge so slow. It pushes out less power and since it pushes out less power the phone will most likely not overheat do to this.

The "brushed metal" screen thing has been only problem I've had. I exchanged it for one that looks pretty normal & I'm honestly not having any other problems. This phone is unbelievable & everything I've ever wanted in a phone. Great signal(I get signal at my work now, which I didn't before), great sound, great battery life, great colors, doesn't overheat, and the bluetooth range is excellent. I can literally walk across my house without it disconnecting, which is a breath of fresh air coming from a Sensation that I couldn't get more than 5 feet from :3
Agree. Hardware wise there isn't much if at all that needs to be fixed. Everything is nice and solid...great finish.
It's blazing fast..doesn't overheat and does everything well. Reminds me a lot of a Mac...It turns on, turns off and does what it's suppose to well. Reliable.
The phones amazing and I recommend it to EVERYONE.

I exchanged mine yesterday because it had the textured screen flaw. It was made on 9/27, got a new one made on 9/28. Looking great now, still messing around with it, a functional GPS is my biggest worry. I'll be testing that today when on the road.
Only down side I see is the occasional lag with TouchWiz. Coming in and out of applications, you notice a few slow spots here and there. Nothing I really care about. Coming from the G2X, this phone is a dream.
my phone works great the only issue i have is the phone acts strange when i try to use it and its charging...weird

Try a different charger. I've had this problem on several phones, it has to do with the charger outputting the wrong voltage or something. My phone does this too with the old Sensation charger that I use at work but it doesn't do it with my home charger.

Try a different one anyway, I've had included chargers cause this problem with the phones they came with.
---------------------------------------
One more slight problem that I've noticed- occasionally Doggcatcher & certain music players will give me errors about not being able to access the sd card. Its like it unmounts itself randomly or something. PlayerPro is the only one so far that hasn't done this.

[Q] Bluetooth keeping phone awake. Bug or Deliberate?

I've recently ventured and bought a Parrot Asteroid, despite all the talk about it being unstable and to my delight the thing is fantastic.
Back to the point I love that I can just get in my car with my phone in my pocket and the Parrot auto connects before I can even crank the engine. However what I have found is that keeping Bluetooth on all the time keeps the phone from going into any sort of sleep which cuts my battery life in half. Now I understand that having the bluetooth radio on all the time is going to use power, I'm no novice but the power drain seems a bit too dramatic. So what's up? Is it fixable?
I've found that it is in fact a bug, the problem does not occur on the team venom v1.0 Rom.

[Q] Does car bluetooth cause Android to drain the battery?

I've had a couple of days where Android is using up the most battery. The only thing I can think of is that it's when I am driving the car. I have a Parrot bluetooth on my car stereo and when I get in the car I usually leave my phone in my pocket as I drive. I checked the battery stats but bluetooth is not really showing much use. Android however is showing as using nearly all the battery. More than the display in fact.
I'm running Watchdog app right now to see if it alerts me to any 'rogue' apps. But it seems OK after running all night indoors.
Does anyone know if when bluetooth is running on car bluetooth systems whether it prevents Android from going to sleep? I am wondering if that could be the issue?
Is your phone connected to the car bluetooth? Sorry, I didn't get that from your post.

bluetooth is a Constant connection so yes the phone is constantly awake even tho screen its off.
Best solution use car charger and keep phone charged.

Not sure you right as My phone (Arc S / G-nex / XS )sleeps for me when it connects. About 2 to 3 hours a day.
For obvious reasons if your streaming music it won't sleep tho.

What I mean is that the Bluetooth connection its always active so if you need to call or receive a call then the headset picks up.
So even if screen its off the Bluetooth is still sending and receiving the signal.
Unlike gps if not using maps, navigation etc then there is no signal even its switched on which means no usage.
Sent from my LT18i using xda premium
Seems so. Tested today in the car and the battery did indeed drain a lot faster than normal. Guess I will have to hook it up to the charger when in the car. Pain.

Bluetooth Major Issues with S3

So it's happened now with three different earpieces. During calls...strictly arbitrary the Bluetooth disconnects. This happens whether it's in my hand, in my pocket or next to me on the arm rest while driving. This happened with ICS & now JB. Anybody else?

I have bluetooth in the car and it has never given me any disconnecting issues.
i noticed the problem on jb... at least the roms i have used.
i rarely had the problem on ics.
it doesnt make sense, i have a feeling its the kernals.
if you were wondering i use the headset approximately 2hrs + straight a day to 4 hours total a day
I use bluetooth in the car, speakerdock and headphones. I don't have big problems with my connections. Just sometimes it would not connect but just turning the bluetooth of and on works fine for me.

[Q] "OK Google" on Lockscreen

Does anyone know how to get this feature to work on the LG G3. I had it working on my GS5, Nexus 5 and Moto X. I've gone into the settings in Google Now, checked all the check-marks and did the voice training but for the life of me it will not respond if the screen is locked.
That only works from the lockscreen while the phone is plugged into a charging device. It's a limitation implemented by Google.
I just tried it with my own G3, while plugged in, and it worked just fine.
That's really bizarre and downright stupid. I used it all the time in the car on my Samsung phones.

Consensus on why they did it that way is that it was to prevent battery life from getting eaten up. The Moto X has a dedicated chip for it's own "always listening" service to help prevent the battery from draining rapidly with the service being enabled, so it's in a unique situation in this particular matter.
It will work as long add the screen is on. I.E. the phone can be locked but the screen needs to be on, unless its being used via Bluetooth as others have mentioned.
