Hello, I have had Paranoids Kit kat rom on my Lg G2 for about a month now, and i absolutely love it. It works perfectly, except one thing.
I noticed whenever I plug my phone into my computer to copy any kind of files to or from the phone (i.e. music, pictures, movies.. etc.) it constantly freezes in the middle of transferring the data forcing me to unplug the phone and plug it in again. It freezes around 70% of the transfer every time i try to copy something to the phone or from the phone to the computer. It happens every time for any type of file.
I have the phone set to transfer media (MTP mode) and USB Debugging on. Both MTP and PTP modes freeze. Is this a bug? Can i do something to fix it?
You should ask in the G2 forums

No internet yet in the new house I moved into, so I'm trying to use wired tether (wireless has always had that stupid No Internet Access with the caution triangle symbol).
Less than a week ago I tried using Easy Tether and it seemed to work fine, tried it again a day or two later and it took a little bit longer but my computer still recognized it. Next day my connection suddenly becomes extremely faulty, literally connecting and dropping about every 5-10 seconds.
Yesterday I tried connecting it and it took about 10 minutes until my computer recognized me Evo. Today I have left it in for about a half hour and received nothing, the hell is going on? I tried different USB ports, all pretty much resulting in the same thing. My cables fine because my little LED light on my phone lights up and charges, but the computer never recognizes nor does it even make the notification noise
I tried checking Device Manager just today and never before so I don't really know what my phone is supposed to show up as. Regardless I don't think it's there.
Any ideas?
Update: yesterday my evo was sort of recognized after being connected to my computer for nearly 45 minutes, my phone brought up the option of choosing between charge, disk mount, tethering, etc, but my computer gave an error message about device drivers not being installed, i tried to search device manager to uninstall the drivers but it wasnt listed, seems like a paradox..

Is it charging ok? Kinda sounds like your USB port may be borked.

I get that from time to time aswell.. and I've also noticed everytime I take my phone out of sleep mode while its charging via computer, it asks me if I want to Charge/Sync/Disk Drive/USB Tethering.. is that normal?
A friend of mine also tried plugging in his HTC G2 (with Cyanogenmod), which also did not work. And I've been looking for a solution all around the place, and it seems to be a problem with Android phones in general; however, I know it's possible to get it working somehow because not everyone has the issue.
Basically, no matter if I have the USB connected via charge only or mass storage, the car display flashes "UNSUPPORTED". I've tried it with and without USB debugging enabled. And with all those combinations, I've tried having a music application open/no music apps running.
I also tried a solution here, which also did not do anything different.
I've also seen a few responses saying to just use Bluetooth instead. My car does not have Bluetooth capabilities. Using an AUX cable is a possibility, though I'd rather have the USB working.
Thanks!
Seems like the system wants to recognize your phone, but USB mode takes a few seconds to enable and therefore the system just rejects it. Disk mode will DEFINITELY have to be activated at some point, but the question is when. Try these steps:
1. With the car on, turn on the radio but don't have it in USB mode yet. Use radio, aux, cd, whatever. This will likely power the USB port at least.
2. Plug in your phone, make sure to select disk/mass storage mode.
3. Wait like 10-15 seconds for it to settle in, THEN select USB mode.
If that doesn't work, try different combinations. Like start with the radio completely off or something. If you have more than one USB port, try a different one. Other than that... I'm stumped. I got it working in a rental Ford Fiesta, but I don't remember the exact method. But it was something like this.
Try the radio with a USB stick drive to see if the radio even works that way

Sorry thegregbradley, I tried it but it didn't work.
I tried doing a couple of different things similar to that too, and it didn't work either.
As far as using a regular USB drive with some music files on it, it works fine! My friend used her iPod and that worked fine too. I don't see why it has such a problem with Android though...
In doing some reading, I have discovered information that says you need to turn USB debugging OFF for this to work...
Info comes from this thread:

If not that, then I wonder if it's a problem of file management on your SD card? Just as a test, try putting your songs directly in your root folder. Or at most, one folder deep. The Fiesta I rented had bluetooth functionality, so I ended up doing it that way, as it was faster and less problematic. But I definitely would rather just plug it in if it just worked that way.
Iv found that running a rooted rom with debugging off and in mounted mode works great in my car.... No other combo has worked for me
@pwncloud, did you ever get this to work with USB debugging off? Just curious
I have debugging off in my car too and no mods to my android, it's a G2 and I get the same error on my 2012 Civic LX.
To update, no I never got it to work. I've settled with an aux cable.
For the last 3 months, whenever I have connected my phone to the computer with the USB cable, I would get a little pop-up screen on the PC with about 5 options to select from: sync my phone, see the folders and files, etc. I have not seen that little box in about 4 days.
Luckily, when I bring up Windows Explorer (file manager), the PC does recognize the phone in the USB port and I can proceed as normal. I really have no need to sync my phone anyways but I am curious what happened. I have removed the battery more than once, using the same USB cable I have used for 3 months, and reinstalled the drivers just in case. Rooted with the LIH Jellybean leak. Any ideas where the USB pop-up screen has gone? Thanks.

Computer glitch not phone glitch =p It usually goes away when you accidentally press "always use this" or something similar. I cant remember how to reset that
Hello,
My wife managed to drown her phone and now GPU is fried. I know phone boots, it makes sounds and so on, even there's part of screen displayed from time to time (touch option still works, but not much of help when you don't know what you're touching). Is there ANY way to connect phone like this to the computer in any mode? Most preferably - to backup files and contacts or at least files, less preferably - to flash into something I can connect to via telnet (so it would end up something close to raspberry pi, I have some plans for that too). Last thing - USB settings is on Charge Only, I'm pretty sure development options is activated (I used to do some debugging on it), but USB debugging resets every reconnect (or reboot) on the system version she has if I recall correctly. Thanks in advance for any advices.
This has been driving me insane. I upgraded from a G6 yesterday.
When I connect the G8 to my PC the Android System notification "Tap to change USB options" does not come up in the notification shade, so of course it stays in the default "charging only" mode and the PC can't recognize it.
It's not the USB cable. I tried several and they all work with other phones flawlessly. Also updated the LG universal driver on my PC (Win 10) just in case.
I have USB debugging enabled in the Developer Options and while there is also a "select USB configuration" option, it doesn't work!
The menu comes up for a split second and instantly disappears...
Does anyone else have this problem? So far I really like this phone, but no USB connectivity which means no USB tethering or adb or just even moving large media files around etc etc is just not something I can tolerate.
For anyone curious, after talking with LG the phone was returned. It was most likely a faulty charging port.
Already have a replacement phone and it doesn't have any of the above USB issues.
I have the exact same issue right now, after 2 years of use of the phone!
Have been trying for a day to find a solution and I couldn't...
2 weeks ago, the battery wouldn't charge fast... from the 'usual' 1.5 hour that it was taking, it now takes 4-5 hours... I thought it was the battery, so today I just received the new one and I was about to change it... I thought of making a backup first, which I did... I wanted to transfer it to my PC for safety but I just can't... it's not the cable (tried other phones), it's not my PC (tried it on another PC and my laptop)...
I now see this post... so I guess I have to be patient enough for another 2 weeks to order and receive a new Charging port...
I really don't want to change my phone... have been using LG for more than a decade now, and I really don't know what to buy next... all else are either way too expensive or just of way lower quality...
Thanks for the update dear Neera!
PS: battery takes too long to get charged, but its use life remains as is... so I didn't think that would be the problem, but couldn't figure out what else it could be...I will need a new one soon anyways, so it's good to have it and change it together with the new charging port...
