See first of all, If it's that necessary to make bootloader relock and going for S-OFF than here's a trick.
Site Name: http://www.mgyun.com/
Go to this site click on Brush Masters(Rounded Monitor Icon) somewhere on right lower side on the site. Install software,it's in chinese but it's completely safe,i've personally downloaded it so many times so kinda trust worth site.
Once installation complete open the software and click on Setting icon(last on first column) then numerous icons you will see so in order to make it shorter and easier for you "2nd row and 2nd icon" which looks like "open lock" click on it wait until software downloads proper driver for your device, once it completed your device will be in final stage where you'll be prompted either choose Yes or NO and Press Power Button once that done, your device will be restarted and you'll be relocked again.
Thanks.

it worked!!!!!

Just drag the .BAT file into where the fastboot location is, Run the .BAT with the phone plugged in and it should repeatedly reboot with the cmd window open on the desktop.

You are more than welcome, one last thing you can try is Follow the procedure of getting the UNLOCK-CODE.BIN via the DEV site by copy all that text on the DEV site and see if it will accept that at all.

1. Flash TWRP
2. Flash SuperSU ZIP
3. Done
Unticking the "Fast boot" option was a bit unnecessary even before.
Unticking it just prevented folks from getting confused why they couldn't get into bootloader from a "Power off" condition (which with "Fast boot" is really not a true power off, but a deep sleep mode).
If you used any other method, like selecting "Restart" after holding the power button (which is a true reboot) or holding down the Power + Vol up to reboot; those always worked to enter bootloader (by pressing vol down while rebooting).
For all the guides that said to untick "Fast boot" I always just left it on, since I preferred it that way.

In the last update (lollipop) the fast boot option is disabled. So all you can do is backup your stuff and factory reset your phone so it will go back to the previous update where fast boot option is available.

This information is false, for more reason that one (see below). If you bothered to read a thread, I already explained it above in Post #9.
1) The only thing the "fast boot" power option (in Settings) prevented, was going to bootloader from a "power off" condition, as in this case, the phone isn't truly powered off (just a deep sleep state). But you can still get to booloader with a REBOOT, which is always a true reboot; even with "fast boot" power setting enabled.
2) With the "fast boot" power option gone, Item 1 above is irrelevant. The absence of this option in fact makes it easier to get to bootloader, not harder. This is not related to the Android fastboot/adb interface, if that is part of the confusion (as the name is practically the same).
3) Your advice about doing a factory reset is false, as a factory reset does not return you to a former OS version (despite somewhat popular misconception). All factory reset does, is delete user data. Plus, what you advise is completely unnecessary due to Item 2 above. Users on LP or MM are free to get into bootloader, unlock bootloader via HTCDev.com and root; without returning to any older OS version (which is actually impossible without root and/or s-off).

1) Mods won't like you posting a question in the Dev thread... there are specific sections (general, firmware, etc) where you can post it...
2)Considering that your phone is practically new, if you only rooted it and haven't installed a custom recovery, you will be able to update your firmare (OTA) through the built in upgrade process on your phone. Once, that is done, root your phone and install a custom recovery like TWRP.
good luck

Yes, I sure do.
First of all, if you want the newest ViperOne, you'll want 5.0.1 firmware, at least.
Hook up to you PC. Get into ADB/fastboot, and issue the command fastboot getvar all.
Post the readout here, and I, or someone else, will point you in the proper direction to update your firmware.
Please make sure to delete the serial# and IMEI from the readout. Never post those in a public forum.

Okay. This will update your firmware. Backup anything important to you, because this will wipe your phone.

Yes, but that's easy. Unlock your bootloader, flash TWRP, and flash a rooted ROM, such as ViperOne.
Also, I recommend not using one click toolkit methods. They often cause problems, plus doing it manually is easy and gives you an introduction to ADB and fastboot, making it less intimidating.
I don't know how to do it manually =( last time I tried I hard bricked my m7

I don't know.
Maybe you don't have the drivers installed on your PC.
Go to Device Manager with your phone connected. You should see that your M8 is connected.
If you don't see it in Device Manager, download HTC Sync Manager and run it to install the drivers. After that, uninstall HTC Sync. It doesn't play nice with ADB and fastboot. The drivers will remain.
Then go to Device Manager and confirm that your phone is listed there when connected..

Root on Unlocked Version?

Hello,
So I bought the HTC 10 directly from their store a few months ago, and have been considering to root it. The thing is that when I look up the Model Number on the HTC, it say "HTC 10" as well, no info. Is there a way to find it's actual MN if it's hidden (as I assume)?
Let me know if there's any other info needed. Thank you in advanced.

You'll need fastboot.
Reboot into download mode (hold volume down and restart the phone), and from your computer type
Fastboot getvar all
Your model number will be listed as MID.
Or, if you bought it from HTC directly and haven't modified anything you'll be able to tell by the software number in the phone's settings. It'll be something like 2.x.y.z. The three digit y number will be something like 617 (u.s unlocked, model ID 2PS65000) or 401 (wwe, model id 2PS62000), for example.
But you don't really need to know that to root. You just need to unlock your bootloader using HTCdev website and then follow instructions for root on xda.

Honestly I'm not very good at troubleshooting adb issues. I would suggest you follow instructions on the HTCdev website for bootloader unlocking, they tell you how to install fastboot. Else there are tons of guides on xda or YouTube.
Also make sure you disable HTC Sync Manager on your pc, if you have it.

No you don't need it. Just make sure you have htc drivers. One way of doing that is, I believe, is to install htc sync manager but then remove it while keeping the drivers.

I successfully got the bootloader unlocked, installed latest TWRP, but upon installing the supersu the forums made to bypass dm_verity and the forceencrypt, it went into a bootloop.
There was a red message saying something among the lines of, "This is for developers only..." and whatnot, and simply kept looping.
Thankfully I made the backup, so I restored it. But I'm stuck at the SuperSU part.
If anyone knows why it is doing this, please let me know.
I should also point out, twrp was able to decrypt my phone's data when creating the backup, so not sure if this would mean I need to intentionally install an older TWRP, just so with that version, they fail decryption.
Sorry for bothering, got it working. Have Nougat, so I didn't knew I needed another different SuperSU

Yeah, thank you for your help, btw.
Only current issue I'm having is trying to set up Adaway, since it requests S-Off. (Which I'm concerned of, since idk if doing so and letting the app do it's thing would unencrypt the data) So wondering it it's wise to do so.

Why is Adaway asking for S-Off? Not even sure it should be able to see your s-on/s-off state. Root access is all that it should be requesting.
S-off with sunshine won't touch your data partition. But I wouldn't pay for S-Off just because Adaway is asking you to.

Oddly, it went and started working now, at first it requested to create something that required S-Off. Hmm, perhaps I must of tweaked something for it to no longer need that.
I have one more doubt, but I feel this one may be better to be done as a new thread instead.

Pixel 2xl Can't Find Valid Operating System.

I've tried to lock the bootloader. But after locking the bootloader the phone restarts and shows the message that Can't Find Valid Operating System.
In FastBoot Mode it shows:
Secure Boot -Yes
Device State - Locked
My Bootloader Version - TMZ20k
Baseband Version - g8998-00253-1809191716
What's the solution?
Hope you didn't try to lock the bootloader without being fully stock...
If so, you've just bricked your phone.
If you're fully stock, you can bootloader unlock the phone again and start over.

does your computer recognize your phone?
if so make sure you have up to date adb/fastboot
boot into bootloader then open command prompt
type fastboot flashing_unlock
why did you relock your bootloader?
maybe try deuce's script or the all in one tool. They're pretty handy

Yes My Computer recognize my phone.
After entering this command "fastboot flashing unlock"
It Shows:
FAILED (remote: 'Flashing Unlock is not allowed')
Have you tried adb sideloading an ota file?
If that doesn't work I'm not sure what else you can do.

By chance did you turn off OEM unlocking and USB debugging before you locked the bootloader? If so, it's......Brickhouse time! :fingers-crossed:

You could try sideloading the OTA through stock recovery like @Edmontonchef suggested. I don't think it'll work, but at this point, anything is worth a try.
Could somebody PLEASE sticky a warning on every section to NOT RELOCK BOOTLOADER?? Pretty please??

While that would be nice my friend, I also think that there is enough information out there already that if users were willing to search for it, they would find out quickly that this is a no no. Unless of course, it's done in the correct manner. :fingers-crossed:
Why did you relock the bootloader? What advantage did you expect to gain from that?

You mean, put THAT sticky right next to the sticky that states, SEARCH FIRST, or the one that states "generic questions belong in the Q&A section for each device"?
Edited out of compassion

Or any of the other 100s of stickies that the vast majority never read?
Those stickies?
I'm actually AMAZED at the "right now, immediate gratification" mentality of so many people nowadays.
I have this $800+ device, I want to customize it, what should I do first?
1) read the OPs and research the guides for my device PRIOR to messing with it,
or
2) skip all the research and OPs and flash my new device the way I flashed my Note 3 from five years ago?
Who in their ever loving right mind picks 2??????

I feel bad for new members like the OP. No doubt this will be a learning moment for him, and he seems sharp enough that I think he'll be okay down the road and will do the research needed before customizing his devices.
The members who have been with Xda for years and STILL don't research, read OPs, read stickies.... those are the folks who chap my hide

Yeah, don't let it get ya down Hoss! Some folks just like learning things the hard way I reckon. We both did. And, in the long run, they'll be better off for it :good:
