[Q] Battery drain - Z1 Compact - Xperia Z1 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
Since my upgrade to 4.4.2 - version 757, the battery on my phone not lasting as good. On Jelly bean, it lasted well over a day and more. Has anyone had the same issues and/or have any fixes or can help. BTW the phone is not rooted and I do not want to do so.

Had the same issue. Noticed that Google Now notifications were activated. Deactivated and now I come close to 48h on a single charge, even better than before upgrading.
With Google Now notifications activated, it wouldn't last 24h on a single charge.

Yes, I have noticed exactly the same. Screen off deep sleep is fine. It's when the screen is on where the problem is. The phone gets hot and the battery drains really fast.
I'd love an answer to this.

Same here... How do you desactivate Google Now? I believe it is already off on my Z1c.

Mine has been mind blowing good. I did uninstall an app that was a pig, ROM itself is sick.

100% battery to 0% in less than 7 hours overnight

Hi all
Want to get some opinions on what could have caused my battery to suddenly drain overnight from 100% to 0 in less than 7 hours.
I noticed something was up on Monday night when I woke up (see screenshot).
During the day the battery drained very quickly so I decided to charge it fully then leave it overnight without touching it (see other screenshot..)
I've tried a factory reset and using a friends battery - both seemed to point to the phone developing a hardware fault as it still drained even with my friends battery in (whereas his did not with my battery in).
So just wanted some opinions and suggestions on how to fix this. Or does it look like I need to claim on warranty?
Phone is completely stock on 4.0.4 - updated directly from google.
Thanks all
PS - note good signal and no wakelocks throughout the night. I also used to get a entire days use out of the phone easily, my usage hasn't changed.
That is definitely not normal.
Did you look at Settings | Battery to see what was eating up battery life?

Since I did a factory reset the top was Phone idle, mobile standby, android system etc
You could try this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.smapho.battery_mix
You're probably just going to want to replace it, though.
My battery started draining all of a sudden with 40% gone overnight. I took it back and they replaced the mb. Now all is ok.
Thanks guys - I've just gone ahead and opened up a warranty claim via Samsung UK.. fingers crossed!

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but Samsung have (after 2 tries) seem to have fixed the battery issue.
However I now cannot update back to the latest 4.0.4 software. They said that they updated my phone to the latest software the first time I sent t back and I did complain that I wasn't able to get 4.0.4 as well as the fact that they never actually fixed the battery issue.
Screenshot below - any ideas why my phone won't update? What could Samsung have done?
I have/had same problem! but only in 8 hours maybe it was on 4.0.4 YAKJU ROM
ad I didn't even use my Gnex.
on YAKJUXW 4.0.2 ROM my battery draind from 100% to 24% in 1 day and screen on only 2-5 minutes...
when I'm using my Gnex my battery drains much faster... in 2 minutes 1% less..

Flash Yakju stock.

Also 4.0.3 AOSP/CM9 ROM have good files good radio baseband on my Galaxy Nexus.. with YAKJU ROM I have too bad battery draining problem..
my Nexus was in phone service they flashed ROM again and changed battery still same battery draining problem..
or then Stock ROMs on Galaxy Nexus GSM have little bit bad battery life..

[Q] Battery life poor since JB

Hi everyone,
My One X used to have brilliant battery life. I didn't turn on the screen that often throughout the day, but I was able to regularly check the news, send and receive texts, make a few calls and - crucially - keep my Wifi on for the entire day. With this setup, I was regularly getting 4 or 5 days of usage without having to charge my phone. However, as soon as JellyBean came along as an official update, I grabbed it... since then, I'm lucky if I get a day and a half out of it before I need to plug it into the wall.
I'm not running any custom ROMs: just whatever I get through official O2 OTA updates. Battery usage says that 36% of my drain is due to Android OS, with another 20% due to Maps. The rest are tiny, only 2 to 5%. Now I understand that a new version of Android might make some new demands on the hardware, but from what I heard, the update was supposed to improve battery life if anything. Even with the new Power Saver feature on, the difference is minimal, with only a few hours standby time gained overall.
Can anyone suggest anything to remedy this, or is this fairly normal? It's not world-ending and perhaps I was just really lucky to get 5 days of use in the first place, but thought I'd ask the experts before I grin and bear it. Thanks in advance for any help or advice.
19 hours and 40 minutes into this usage cycle, I've got 57% remaining. So it's shaping up to be about 40 hours of usage, down from 120 at its peak. Right now, it's also saying that Android OS has used 99% of my battery... and nothing else is on the list.
Does no-one have any idea what's going on?
Did you make an hard reset when you updated your phone?
This is why when you upgrade your phone to a newer Android version it is better if you perform a hard reset
AW: [Q] Battery life poor since JB
I suffer(ed) also under heavy drain due to maps since update to JB. But I'm convinced it's cause of Google Now. Disabled it yesterday and will check whether it gets better or not. Try disabling gnow and see if it gets better. I also had issues with gsam battery monitor in case you use this.

Thanks for this. Your suggestion got me checking for other people having issues with Google Now and battery life. I disabled it as you suggested and I'm definitely seeing an improvement. It's still not as good as it was, but I think I might be able to squeeze more than two days out of it now.
Do you have stock rom? Because I've just upgraded to JB yesterday and flashed a custom rom, and since then my battery is like 3 times more powerful.
You should definitely switch to a custom rom... Ever since I upgraded to JB I've seen a massive improvement in my battery life.. From barely making it through the day to almost 2days of my typical of usage.
Google Now does seem to kill battery as it polls the Google maps app a lot.. So I usually open task manager to make sure it isn't running in the morning background.

Android System and Android OS draining my battery since updating to 4.1.2

Bone stock, not rooted or rommed.
My battery life used to be phenomenal. I would check at the end of basically every day and averaged 4-8 hours of actual Screen On time. The Screen would account for 40-55% of the usage, followed by all of the*apps*that I had used that day. Android System and Android OS would be pretty far down on the list.*
Now that I have 4.1.2, I'm lucky to hit 3 hours of Screen On time. And now Screen, Android System, and Android OS are accounting for 20% EACH.
I haven't changed any settings or the way that I used the phone. The only thing that has changed is the update.*Is anybody else experiencing this?
I've gotten bettery battery life since 4.1.2, significantly better. Try to perform a factory reset or it could be a faulty device.

Yep and I have more or less tried everything including tweaks galore, every suggestion I coukd find, and freezing several dozen apps.
Nothing can be done about this and my guess is Samsung have made an absolute mess of the update. My HTC loses maybe 1% overnight on a bad day, this loses way over 10%.
I'll prob end up switching back to 4.1.1 but unfortunately it doesnt have the tap to reflow feature in the browser (which I use a lot)... I wonder if I can remove it via titanium and restore the newer version which would have reflow on 4.1.1 ??
I have the same problem. As soon as I took my phone off the charger this morning it dropped to 99%. On 4.1.1 it used to last for a good 20 minutes before dropping to 99%. Also last night after about 6 hours of screen time Android System was at the top of my list. And that is with 20 or so system apps frozen or deleted from running.
What's the easiest way to go back to 4.1.1?

Zero battery life related issues here with 4.1.2 Im starting to think some people probably messed up their phones too much or just got a flaky unit/battery and 4.1.2 exposed those?

Well I dunno.. I have tried everything and there is definitely a battery drain issue. If it is caused by ebay/whatsapp + facebook, then I'm curious as to why they don't show up in battery usage or betterbatterystats... and I'm also curious why the exact same setup on my HTC EVO 3D does cause these horrendous idle battery drains.

Yeah already done all that and there doesnt actually seem to be anything using over like 5%.. I have elimated the higher one yet it still drains ovwr 10% at nite. Or in general idleness.
What I became accustomed to with my previous phones was 0% or 1% drain over many hours if the screen was off. Not 2% or more an hour.
1% drain over 9 hours of deep sleep on Wanam2.8

I had the same dreaded android os battery drain issue after updating to ma8. Used to have great battery life before that. After freezing Google search, Google now, still no use. Then i realized I installed another weather app at the same time I upgraded the os. Bingo. Un installed that offending app and that fixed the Android os battery drain issue. Hope this helps.

That's specifically my DBT rom (stock everything as well) and I've had battery issues and to be honest, it's still better than most other phones, but I'm getting about 40% less life out of my device now.
I have flashed again, I've reset, and deleted everything and still no luck. It's something with the ROM. I hope the next update will fix it. If it doesn't, I'll revert back to 4.1.1 because I would go to bed with 50% battery life, now I have to charge in the middle of the day if I want to get through a long work day with lots of use.
well the new french 4.1.2 N7100XXDMA6_N7100OXADMA5_N7100XXDLK7 is much better than the last one rlsd in december and my battery drains less now

so today i downgraded to 4.1.1 again and battery is same like before update again.. cheers..

i also have same problem on XXDMB2 .i think only some people have battery problems with 4.1.2. Is it related to emmc firmware 0*1f ? Is the kernel reparing the bad sectors by itself? and what is kworker process?

[Q] Do or do not update to NK2?

It was about the same, but I didn't have stock very long. No lag either. I always close all my recent apps daily to keep as much ram free as possible to avoid slowing down the phone. I ended up getting root about a week after updating to NK2 and running Xnote which is real zippy with a little better battery performance. I started at 100% at 6pm yesterday with moderate usage up until I went to bed and had about 50% around noon today . I've got Battery Monitor Widget Pro installed and it went from 86% to 85% between 11:43pm and 1:23am. Not sure if that's a glitch, but the phone temperature was at it's lowest at 77º. Fast Charging still works great with Xnote so I am able to juice it up quickly just as when I was stock.

Samsung galaxy S4 mini battery drain!

Hi everybody...I have this phone and I have a problem. When I charge the phone up to 100% battery and then take it from the charger, battery drops to 99 or less without phone usage...And when I go to sleep and then wake up,the phone lost about 10-15 percent...Can somebody plesase help me?
Check what's keeping your phone awake during idle, "wakelock detector" and "better battery stats". Though you need root for these. You've nor given us any details of what your phone is and what ROM?? Try searching for threads on how to calibrate your phone battery.
Ohh sorry...My phone is S4 mini GT-I9195 LTE....I have stock android 4.4.2 kitkat...I have already calibrated battery and bought new battery...But same problem...

Not always the case... Depends when and where your phone was made. Could be a faulty kernel or motherboard but it also could be an app or a setting on your phone or an unclean install. Have you always suffered this issue?
I got phone about 3 weeks ago...and the battery was very bad so i bought new one.I also tried CM 12.1 but the phone is heating in unnormal way but the battery there is better...
You have problems with motherboard. Go to service center to replace it on waranty.
Powered by CM12.1
But my phone isnt on waranty...i got it used haha....ahh nvm,i will live with that problem.thanks for help!
Bad luck then. Normal consumption for our device is 0.2 - 0.3 % per hour in stand by.

How long does yours battery last with some normal usage?
Almost 3 days with moderate usage.

Your best bet seeing as unless you pay for a new motherboard is to try one of the battery drain fix kernels on here. Though I think you may be limited to certain compatible ROMs.
Why are you not staying on cm 12.1? For me it's amazing, i observed at least 100% more battery efficiency than stock (4.2.2). I also observed the same problem with high temp too. But i think we can't have it all. When i play games and the outside temperature is about 35 celsius, i do not expect anything less, because this mobile is not designed for this android version. I think that's reasonable and i finally can use my mobile with a joyful way without having my mind always on the battery stats!

Thanks guys! And i will try CM 12.1 for longer time to see if anything will be better!
