[Q] Can you go back to 100% stock? - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I want to return my M8 but I rooted it.
Is it possible to go back to stock?
Maybe I overlooked a topic somewhere.
At this moment I'm S-ON and Relocked.

Yes, just read and learn somewhere around. There should be someone who made guide for that

THat's one thing I did.
With bootloader unlocked I got S-Off with firewater.
http://firewater-soff.com/instructions/
Then I flashed stock recovery
You can find this here: http://android-revolution-hd.blogspot.be/p/android-revolution-hd-mirror-site-var.html
Next I removed TAMPERED:

Well you can just stay unlocked flash a recovery and then require root by flashing it through recovery or android market or you can try to gain s- off with taco root in one of the threads here somewhere which where you can follow I would totally recommend getting S-Off tho

I used it yesterday to successfully unlock my bootloader. Read every step word for word (twice) and don't skip anything.
I cant succeed at taco root and when I go to HTC unlock bootloader page I don't see where the process actual is like I said I select device and click the unlock bootloader highlighted in green but now what do I do?

Why are you using taco root? That tool is for downgrading to s-off. For that to work, You need to re-lock bootloader and follow the instructions to s-off. Having a unlocked bootloader will cause errors. htcdev is something pretty useless because we have s-off, just my opinion.
My software is up to date so no root or s-off methods work I read taco root will work but I myself am not talented enough apparently to do this. All the one click methods including a one click downgrade method does not work (vivow hack). So I assumed HTC tool would get me to at least be able to flash a custom Rom. Does anyone have any suggestions to make me a happier dinc2 owner?

I know this sounds sketchy, but if you want to pay for shipping, send it to my place I'll do the tacoroot method for you and send it back. PM me if you're interested, I figured I'd throw it out there.

You could try using teamviewer (think that's what its called) to remote access his computer an walk gin through it. Might be faster.

After you click the green button that says "Begin Unlock Bootloader", there is a popup. If you're not getting that, maybe your browser is blocking popups? Maybe you can temporarily disable that?

Totally Agree +1
Again, I think we need a PSA against using HTCdev unlock. Causing a lot of problems for many, especially for the vivow,

I get your uneasiness, but in the simplest terms, if the bootloader is S-ON and not HTCDev unlocked, it is locked.
You can unlock the bootloader from the HTCDev website, but there are caveats for flashing custom ROMs, namely that the boot.img file needs to be extracted from the ROM and flashed separately using fastboot.
The easier approach is to use the methods outlined to gain S-OFF. This gives you more control not only to flash custom ROMs, but also unsigned radios.
I tried it both ways (HTCDev and S-OFF). I'm much happier being S-OFF.

[Q] NEED HELP ASAP PLEASE! I messed up..

Hey guys,
So I wanted to go from official CM back to stock Sense.
So I followed the instructions on the sticky in One X general thread. Went into bootloader, relocked it and ran the RUU.
Problem is, I'm on 3.20.401.1 and there's no RUU for that apparently. And because there's no S-OFF I cannot downgrade.
I also cannot go back to my custom recovery (clockwork) because of the relock..
What do I do? Any help would be appreciated.
You can use the following link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2421316
But instead of using the nandroid backup from there, use the right nandroid backup for your cid

My main problem is that I DO have a nandroid backup but I can't get into my custom recovery because of the relock...
Is there any way to do a fast unlock? Or do I have to do all that token ID stuff again?
BTW my CID is Y13
Yes have to unlock it by the unlock token

Welp, unlocked it again and went back to CM. Gonna wait until there's a new RUU for my device rather than mess with this...

It isn't that hard to do it.
It's pretty easy if you follow the steps

Running Rumrunner a second time...

So on my htc one i ran rumrunner to get root and installed superuser and flashed CWM. well before i couldnt get CWM to flash so while some people on here tried to help me one person decided to be a troll and said to run "fastboot oem writesecureflag 3" and it made my phone S-on, i havent flashed any new recoveries or anything and i was wondering if i could get S-on. my phone speaker has blown and i need to get my phone back to stock so i can bring it in under warranty.
There's a thread on how to return to s-on stock. Easiest way is with the ruu s which both signed and unsigned versions of are on here

So will I have to use the decrypted or encrypted one?
And do I have to do it differently depending if I have the encrypted or decrypted one?
With being s on I believe you have to push the signed version via adb.

Faux Locked Hboots?
You can truly lock it with soff but you still have soff. I don't think HTC will fall for faux hboots.
