Hello, all
I cannot seem to find the KitKat OTA. I am unrooted, completely stock. When I search for the update, it says my phone is up to date, even though I am not (I'm running 4.2.2). It's been just under 2 weeks since update started rolling out, I am wondering what to do..
I've tried searching on WiFi and LTE, hoping for that to make a difference, but alas, no update found.
Forgive me if I'm just being impatient, but I've seen a lot of people running KitKat on their Sprint G2's, so I'm wondering why mine won't update.
Thanks,
DEOXiDATiON
Each time I tot back, I get all the updates quick. You could always tot to kitkat (VC) but you will lose everything on your phone and have to reset it back up. (Backup photos and stuff to computer before tot to VC and copy them back to device after your done setting the device up again )

Ok guys and gals im not to new this but i have a problem.
So i put of the OTA update for my LG Optimus G pro for some time mainly because i didnt think it was a big deal.
I have not rooted my phone so i thought OTA no big deal right. Did the update and restarted my phone like normal to ensure the update took.
Turned my phone back on and im stuck with the Boot error about verify security any ideas?
If you can get into download mode, I would try using the LG Flashtool and flashing stock files. If you can't even get it to boot, its worth looking into. There is a few threads about how to get back to stock. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2438088
Well if I got it to download mode and was able to get the dll and tot files to flash the stock back to it. I'm debating on actually rooting my phone now I see they have 4.4 out for the E980
Sent from my LG-E980 using xda app-developers app
There are quite a few 4.4 builds for the e980. My opinion? Root it, and get some kit kat goodness. The roms are becoming better and better every day. The devs do amazing work.
Thanks in just not sure if the possibility of bribing is worth it and I like the idea of a total back up including apps and such

I don't know if anyone else is having this issue, but I have tried enabling Trace Input by editing the Build Prompt using Root Browser four times now, and all four times have resulted in the following two error pop-ups:
Unfortunately, com.android.systemui has stopped working. OK
Unfortunately, Home has stopped working. OK
Pressing OK gets me nowhere. It only brings back the same two messages instantly, making it impossible for me to do ANYTHING. It's a stock rooted OTA ZVC, so there's no custom recovery nor ROMs to flash even if I had a custom recovery. Two out of the four times, I had to use the LG Flash Tool and flash the ZV7 and 8 tot files and kept installing the OTAs until I was back to ZVC. The other two times, I flashed the ZVC files. Of course, regardless of what you flash, you're losing EVERYTHING on your phone — music, movies, pics, texts, call logs, apps, etc. Reinstalling tons of apps and using the USB to transfer tons of pics, movies, and music takes FOREVER to do, so I was wondering if any of you were having this same issue. If so, how do I resolve it?
P.S. I usually tether my data to my computer, but right now I'm using my little sister's wifi hotspot. Sprint is upgrading the towers on my area, so not only is there no LTE available right now, but the download speeds are terribly slow. I'm downloading the ZVC tot now, and it's 0.6/2.1 GB with 10 hours left to complete. I'm hoping someone can/will provide me with a fix before then to save me the trouble of starting fresh all over again.

I'm sorry, with those 2 errors kind of hard to do anything on the phone. I would say I could send you a build prop, but without getting into a recovery or without the errors won't do any good.
If you can use
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2715496
The auto-rec program. It keeps download, down grades aboot, gives you recovery.
I do apologize if I don't remember but if you are one of the few unlucky with white line syndrome on the phone after a recovery is installed.
Cloudyfa has the fix linked on the first page also.
Which will make it like you didn't just try to put recovery on.

The app you used to edit may have truncated the build.prop, I know rootexplorer says its too big and truncates in a warning message, do it on computer and overwrite or use a separate build.prop editor. Check permissions on modified build.prop which should be rw-r-r. I have done this on both my G2s with no problems.
Abhinav.tella nailed it. I use Rom Toolbox lite, just as I show in my thread. Works like a charm on ZVC. Also, you can just flash a ZVC TOT if you had to. You don't need to flash all the way back using an old TOT file and work your way to current.

I guess I can try that. My only gripe is that if it doesn't work, I'll have to tot back and have no files or anything on my phone again. That is a hassle and it really sucks having to reroot and install all my apps and stuff again.

Dont have to....
Figured someone should start a thread now that its out. I had this update waiting for me this morning when I woke up. Had to replace some modified system files and then took the update. Lost root of course.
Points of note on ZVD:
Do not accept an OTA update with custom recovery or rom installed. If you have modified system files the stock files must be put back. Failure to consider this will lead you to problems you dont need. You can always .tot your device if necessary before taking the OTA, or wait (and be patient) for Devs to develop their roms to support zvd.
It does not include wifi calling.
ART Runtime is now available as an option in the Developer Menu.
It enables Knock Code.
You can reroot with ioroot 25 after update.
There were other fixes listed on Android central including:
A Google Patch
Improvements for group messaging
HD Voice Icon
Updated Email Signature
http://m.androidcentral.com/sprint-lg-g2-update-brings-knocking
I also noticed that Auto Brightness is not switching brightness up and down randomly all over the place and stays pretty well fixed but low intensity even at 100% with auto brightness enabled. Also of note is my battery draining really fast today after I updated and several restarts. Android system seemed to be running away over 28% battery usage but it seems to have settled down. Im gonna recalibrate my battery just be sure anyways. I always do after updates.
ZVD thread. Have at it!
any chance were you able to capture the file and might be able to upload it?

If I did I would have posted it but I believe some of the Devs already have the files. Dont quote me on that but I thought I had read someone grabbed it already.
ah okay sorry. but yea hopfully if one of them has it they post it soon. lol. thanks for the update on zvd tho. i went back to stock trying to see if i can get it. no luck tho
So are you able to get root again after the update?

Does anyone happen to have a copy of the original build.prob from ZVC? I changed some things up and its messing up my update.
Just out of curiosity, how do you recalibrate your battery??

I read this along time ago so hopefully Im retelling it correct. Here's what I do:
Let the phone batt run down and phone shut off completely.
Plug it in and leave the phone off till it charges to 100%.
Turn it on use phone as normal thru the day. Try not to power cycle the phone at all.
Let the batt run down again and phone shut off.
Again plug it in while off and charge to 100%.
Turn on phone with it still plugged in and when the LG screen comes up unplug it.
Your batt is now calibrated.
My G2 is stuck!
I took the ZVD update about 10 minutes ago and once the phone rebooted im suck in TWRP...what am I doing wrong??
your suppose to be fully stock to take the update. in you have a nandbackup use it now. btw i rooted using ioroot manually and installed the twrp recovery using autorec. also for some reason knock on doesnt work for me anymore. worked before zvd

How the hell you get this Flashtool to even do anything??
ok guys, i have a question for you. keep in mind that im new to the phone world lol. ok so a bout a month ago i wanted to unroot my phone but for some reason the tar files on sammobile wasnt working right. so i came on here and downloaded what i believed to be the file that i needed to go back to stock. after i used odin and the phone rebooted it automatically notified me that i had a update. after i accepted the update and it rebooted, it again notified me that i have yet another update. so after this happened i noticed that my phone was updated to 4.4.4 kitkat which would be great exept for the fact that it keeps freezing and when i am on wifi i have a problem getting phone calls aswell as text messages. also when i disconnect from wifi i have to restart the phone to get any data back. is there anything that i can do? is it possible to go back to 4.3 or even 4.2.2? any help would be very much appreciated.

Hello! Did you make a back up of your phone before you started the update? That would be the easiest way to go back to how it was. If you used Odin and didn't install a recovery like TWRP or Clockwork you may not have done so. I believe you can reload from Odin with an older ROM it will just erase everything you did. There are stock ROMS here at XDA and galaxynote3root.com as well. Let me know it this helps, sorry for your troubles.

I'm actually surprised that you did get an update to 4.4.4... You could try going back to NF9. The safest route I see that you can take is to install a custom recovery and make a backup before doing this. If you odin NF9 and it doesn't boot then you're kinda screwed because we technically don't have the 4.4.4 update yet, so if anything goes wrong, you can install a recovery again and restore the 4.4.4 backup.

You can get the latest TWRP recovery here : http://www.techerrata.com/file/twrp2/hltetmo/openrecovery-twrp-2.8.1.0-hltetmo-4.4.img.tar
Just odin that and after it's done, go into recovery by doing Vol down + Home and do a backup either in your internal or external storage. After that finishes, you can go back in download mode and odin NF9.

I feel like a moron because mine hasn't updated automatically from 4.4.4. Any way to force the Lollipop update? I already checked and have the 24 wait period in effect. Thanks!
Happened to me as well. Go into settings, time and date, uncheck the automatic date/time function and move the date 1 day ahead. I would reboot the phone just in case, and check it again.

Weird - just did all that and it still says software is up to date. Any other suggestions?
Called AT&T to see if they could push Lollipop to my device. No dice. Tried the "move ahead one calendar day" trick, but it didn't work. Now it shows that I can't check again for 702 hours. Ha! Any other suggestions? Maybe it just hadn't rolled out to everyone yet. I'm in Chicago, if that matters.
If you don't have an issue wiping your data then you can use the stock Odin file in the general sub to flash it back to stock and update again.
I had my wife's phone updated with a push from AT&T. She had the same issue. They have to file a ti let and tech department did it but took a few days.

I haven't really messed around with root stuff in a while, but I know even without root we used to be able to download the update, put it in the root or the SD card and rename it update.zip . Does this not work anymore? I really thought there would be a way to force the update somehow..

That would work if someone has captured the zip file or the download URL, which no one has done. Virtually every 5.0.1 related thread has someone asking for this, with the same response. No one has it, and if they did, it would be available in a stickied post.
Oh the woes of waiting for updates lol.
I remember with my OG moto droid waiting for 2.1 lol.
And how 2.2 blew my mind. Now look at it.
i had to flash oem kitkat to my att note 4, which right after the flash immediately got lollipop.
if you do got to the Samsung kiosk have them re-flash kitkat. then the download for lollipop will update after setup.
Force update to marshmallow?
Hi, absolute idiot when it comes to stuff like this.
So, i was searching through my apps list when i noticed AT&T software update.
I dont need any AT&T applications as i am in Australia and do not have AT&T.
i have tried to force an update by following the clearing data and force stopping the Google services frame work.
tried it multiple times, nothing.
Then i thought i could disable the app of the AT&T software update, and then i fell deeper into the rabbit hole of how OSPolice got in trouble and how there is 2 versions of package disabler pro.
So here i am, stuck with 5.1.1 and i have no idea what to do.
No, i am not going to root it. This is an AT&T phone, with a bootlocker on it. If anyone, *ANYONE*, can help me solve this small issue that would be much appreciated.
