What is up with TWRP - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

Lately it seems to be totally unreliable.. Recently I tried to reinstall a MC2 rom I had once before.. I was using philz recovery, but wan't sure if it would work well with MC2 base.. So I odin TWRP2.6.3.1 after installing rom and it wants to reboot. I get NO OS installed.. Before that I had E: Can't mount preload.. Went into mounts and unchecked rechecked sd card and still have the same issue.. TWRP use to work fine, and I can't seem to figure out the current issue.. I even flashed back to 100 percent stock and tried twice with the same result..

Got it to work this time..

[Q] installed midnight rom v2.2 problems booting

Need help I installed midnight rom v2.2 today I did the recommended wipes as instructed. I had cwm 4.0.1.5 and did my backup twice. When I installed midnight every thing went good but then during reboot it just rebooted back into cwm 5.0.2.3 I've pulled the battery and nothing. I can't even get into my restore files ......did flashing the new cwm erase the backup?????I'm stuck what do I do???????
in the older 4.x cwm backups are on the internal sd card
in the newer 5.x cwm backups are on the external card.
(may be the other way around)
as long as you didnt format the actual sd cards your alright the backups are still there.
i think from cwm you can mount both to a pc and just copy the clockwork folder from one to the other. though i may be wrong.
might be easiest to odin a kernel that has the old 4x cwm
check the dev section there are a few floating around.
edit this kernel has the old cwm as both a flashable zip from inside cwm
and a .tar from odin
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1284092
sometimes it takes more than 1 wipe/format to fully clear or you could have a bad download.
there are also a few full system .tar files that will get you back up and running on a stock system.
Thanks I used Odin to reflash a kernel with the cwm I needed and was able to restore. Ill try to flash midnight against knowing I'm this now!
no prob.
may think about copying the backups to the other sd card too.
that way they are still there even on the newer 5x cwm if you have a problem.
Would it work if I upgrade to zedomax v6.02 it comes with cwm5 same as what comes in midnight rom2.2 that way I don't go through the same problem if it happens again?
it should but your best bet would be to update to that kernel with cwm5
then create a new backup before continuing.
If your phone boots into CWM after a battery pull, just select reboot system now and that will boot the phone up. I see that on my phone as well at times. Not sure what causes it but that always fixes it for me.

[Q] crashed and now can't format /data (and other wierdness)

Just got a brand new N7100 today. Do my usual thing as with all my phones, flash CWM, root, flash custom rom (Omega v8.0). Changed kernel to Note2Core (OC, NOT EXTREME VERSION WITHOUT FSYNC), was running for a bit then it rebooted itself.
After reboot, phone won't run, so I go to do a full system wipe. Except now I can't wipe /data. Tried 3 different CWMs including TWRP (TWRP doesn't even start, just shows load screen then reboots).
Flashed stock ROM with ODIN including .PIT but the /data isn't being cleared, I can't clear it in any way. Only way to get the phone working now is stock ROM through ODIN but it boots up with a bunch of messed up stuff and I can't factory reset.
I have tried scanning for EMMC Brickbug but there are no errors. This one has got me stumped, I know my way around recoveries and android etc. but can't for the life of me figure out what I can do to fix this.
Don't really want to send in for warranty as I probably have a flashcounter (I will try to flash a rooted ROM through ODIN and triangleaway..)
Hoping since there's no EMMC brickbug triggered from the scans, that there's some way to fix this. I thought flashing PIT would wipe the /data partition but obviously not.
Any ideas? Would be most appreciated.
Thanks
I'm having the exact same issue on my N7105. It was working fine for days after flashing, then all of a sudden it rebooted and all user apps were gone. When I tried to reinstall from TB, I got an error on each app that it had stopped working.
I tried to reflash the ROM with full wipe, but CWM restarts when it tries to wipe /data.
I'm using this ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1985200 with Note2Core v2.10.
there is probably an issue with the internal sd card(hardware part).
or maybe you have done something wrong.
try using adb to format it.
I was finally able to format the /data folder by doing a factory reset, now it works in CWM and flashing a ROM doesn't fail when choosing the full wipe installation.
I'm not sure what the problem was. A faulty internal SD card would still be having this problem and incorrect flash method would show problems straight away, not 5 days later, right?
Hi guys,
I have the same issue, anything related to the partition /data is causing me troubles since I first tried to wipe it when I wanted to install CM9.1. (and I had stock ICS 4.0.4 at the time...)
Do you think it is the mmc bug ?
I can enter DL mode but when I try to flash stock rom, it just remains at the animated boot logo for hours...
Tried also to flash rom (with CODE, MODEM, CSC) and Odin stays stuck when starting DATA...
Any luck on your side ?
Wtf this is n7100 thread and forum. How can you get 4.0.x on it

[Q] Can't ODIN or flash, saying Unable to mount items

I tried billard412's Sprint ROM restore to stock and something went haywire.. It rebooted and then it would just boot loop. Ok I thought I'll just Odin back .. but everytime I tried any TAR to Odin it would just stop at cache.img.. I am able to get into TWRP and when I tried a restore, it restored fine, but then it would say
E: Unable to mount /efs
E: Unable to mount /preload
E: Unable to mount /carrier
I've tried various operations, megawipes and such and it would still give me that error on my Sprint Galaxy Note 2 at the end.
Can anyone help me please?
This is scary! I was about to use that so I could do the full ma7 update but now I'm not so sure.
Maybe you should ask billard for ideas since he knows what actions his zip takes and *should* have clues about what parts could go wrong.

I think if I had backed up my EFS folder I might be OK, but alas. I didn't .. This is my first Samsung phone, coming from HTC.... I asked in his thread but it's probably one of those one in a million chance type of things that happened to me
well if that didnt work i just had the same issue
due to upgrading to stock MA7 and flashing an LK8 rom with an MA7 stock kernal
i had to odin twrp recovery and run the restore zip from there since i cant mount preload
also if the zip dont work load a custom rom then go back to recover and try it then you should be able to odin again
*also when i went back to stock LJC i went to manual recovery and cleared cache and dalvik because when i did a factory reset E: failed again*

billard was able to point me into the direction of a PIT that I used to re-partition the phone.. Now I just have the mouning /efs problem, which if I read correctly, I should have backed up.. that's where I am now. I was able to go back to stock but it boot loops and when I go into recovery I have the unable to mount ./efs error

i dont think so i swear
i got same issue it even told me to connect to kies due to odin not working nor the restore for 1 click
you have to make sure when you went to recoevry and flashed the stock ljc
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2086769
it will take you back to stock period when your phone boots
you will have to shut it down and then go to recoveryt which it will be stock and then
wipe factory 2 times and then cache 2 times and that should repartition your phone
reboot it and then use a stock tar and then repartition you should be good to go and you even have 0 reset counts with stock LJC

[Q] TWRP crashed while unmounting Micro-SD and now crashes at the TWRP splash screen

Well, like the title suggests, I was experimenting with Android 4.3 a bit today, so I've been flashing a few ROMs and then formatting. Anyways, I was done seeing what I wanted to see with 4.3 so I decided to go back to Dandroid, a TW 4.1.2 ROM. I realized I didn't have the DKP kernel on my phone, but I heard that you can use the TWRP mount feature to put files on your phone while you're in recovery mode.
I attempted to do that, but the phone/drive didn't show up so I clicked Unmount only to have TWRP crash and now whenever I try to boot back into custom recovery, the flash screen loads and then it crashes. I tried to reinstall TWRP through Odin but it still does the same thing. Tried removing my SD card to see if that would be the issue, same thing.
I currently have no ROM installed, but I have a Nandroid of MIUI on my SD card. I can also get into Odin just fine. I am downloading the Stock Sprint ROM and will flash that I guess.
Basically, anyone have a suggestion as how I can get my phone running again? I'm currently downloading the stock zip file to flash through Odin and have about 30 minutes left so I figured I'd ask if there was another way to maybe access my Nandroid of MIUI or something. I cannot access my phone though so I cannot enable USB debugging for the Toolkit :\
EDIT: Flashed MD4 Stock Sprint ROM and all is well. Re-flashed TWRP 2.6.0.1 and I can get back into it just fine. Kinda sucked but at least my phone is working lol

I was gonna suggest try flashing TWRP thru odin and see if that works but looks like u went the long route lol... glad it works for u now.
Yea, nextime just reflash your fav recovery through Odin. It has nothing to do with your rom. Glad to see you back up and running.

Cant Mount Data Error

Ive searched a few threads and tried a few things but still cant get this working so now im asking for help lol...
heres an explanation of what i did:
Last night i did a usual wipe, and then did a format of the internal data and flashed a Rom,everything went as usual, internal was cleaned up Rom flashed just fine, but then i realized i flashed a older version of a Rom and went back into recovery and flashed a different rom (i think i formatted internal data again, but it was last and i was tired so at the moment i dont remember),and i thought it flashed fine but then i got stuck at the Splash Screen, and thats when i realized that i was getting the "Cant mount data" error...
now i searched a few thread and one suggestion was made to try Philz Recovery (Im using TWRP) so i tried that but i couldnt even do a wipe without the whole just restarting itself so now im back on TWRP and dont wanna **** anything else up so here i am lol.. im currently downloading the tar from the Odin thread (which is taking foreverrrrrrrr) since that seems to be the other solution i found but before i go Odin'ing stuff i figure id ask for suggestions first.. thanks for any help u guys can give...

Using Odin to go back to stock is what I'd do. Sounds like your partitions have gotten borked somehow. An Odin flash should fix that.
Note...if you have updated to stock 4.4 previously, you will need the 4.4 .tar to flash in Odin. The 4.2 or 4.3 will not flash in Odin if you ever accepted the 4.4 OTA
i never did an OTA update but i was on a 4.4 rom before i did anything... anway currently ive flashed the nb4 . tar thru Odin and that just made the recovery font bigger and wheni flashed "update" it did complete but its still stuck on the S4 splash screen... i dont know wtf else to do this is driving me nuts! lol i seriously need like a step by step by file walkthrough cuz im going crazy without a phone lol...and its 4am now and im too tired to keep trying stuff
quick rundown of what i did last:
i flashed the M919UVUFNB4 .tar in odin and that went thru succesfully, but the phone still doesnt pass the S4 splash screen... dont know what else to do really at this point i have to be missing something...
edit i got it back on stock, now im guessin i gotta re-root the thing again smh
