Hi,
Recently bought a xperia z1 compact, my phone was updated to kitkat, since then, every so often the audio ringtone will stop listening to the speaker, but it sounds on the handset.
the speaker has no problems, perfect music listening.
when I go to settings / volume and turn up the volume, it is listening on the handset.
It is a bug in kitkat?
Anyone know how to fix this? maybe it was an app who change my configuration.
Help please
Google and read

Hello,
I just got my HTC One X a few days ago (white, o2-branded) and it has a quite annoying bug:
Everytime a sound (no matter if music, a game or just the volume adjustment sound) starts or ends, the phone makes a "clicking" sound. It sounds a bit like a camera shutter.
Hear for yourself:
(had to break up link because this is my first post, just remove the spaces)
youtu. be/thTyeud5foc
I contacted HTC's support and they told me it wasn't reported before and I should take my phone back to the store I bought it from.
Now my question:
- Has anyone else reported or read about that bug? Goggle couldn't tell me.
- o2 didn't deliver the 1.28 Update yet. Could it be a software problem? I remember some custom DHD kernels having similar issues. So should I just wait for the update?
Thanks in advance for any help.
Cheers,
Phil

It happens with poweramp ... When you open it !
Sent from my HTC One X
I don't have poweramp installed...
On my phone, it happens whenever a sound starts/ends, no matter which app it is
Update:
It seems equalizer (an app I installed) is causing it. I didn't realize I had installed it, it was auto-restored by google when I got my new phone. As soon as I deinstalled it and rebooted the phone, the problem was gone. That's sad, because I don't like beats audio but want to be able to slightly increase the bass for some songs.
Anyone know another good equalizer app, preferrably with preset-widget-buttons on homescreen?
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
i have the same, sounds like the camera lense is tapping the plastic
Check if you have Any app installed that alters your Sound, like equalizer, poweramp or similar. For me the clicking went away after I deinstalled and restarted the phone. You should probably untick quickstart before restarting.
It can be caused by DSPManager, disable all the tweaks for the speaker and reboot, works a treat.

Also can be caused by the virtual room settings, I would leave that disabled too.

I have the same issue. Stock phone, no root, Tmobile.
Hey guys
I picked up a One X on T-Mobile UK the other day (stock, not rooted yet) and I get exactly the same thing. I've only noticed it when playing music through Play Music (sideloaded the app via an apk found here), but now I'm going to look out for it when playing videos.
Given the comments made about poweramp and other equalisers, I suspect that it's something to do with the Beats Audio gubbins that comes pre-installed. So much for "studio quality sound", eh?
Hi,
mine issue is somehow close to yours.
When I connect my HOX to external speakers there is some sound like click which is heard every time s sound is produced by the phone. This click i hear in the beginning and the end of the original sound (music, notification, etc.). It's quite annoying as long as the overall sound quality of the phone is satisfying to me.
Also I dont have none apps affecting audio quality. Only the stock player + sound cloud + pocket casts.

I'm having a similar problem to others in this thread. I haven't installed any sound-altering apps, and no other adjustments have been made, yet whenever a sound plays a slight audio click follows... If anyone has an idea of how to solve this, I'd be very grateful. I'm on T-Mobile. Thanks!
---------- Post added at 11:30 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:14 AM ----------
I see on the FAQ that I should "disable any audio effects/audio DSPs to reduce the vibrations of the DAC"...
How do I do this, please? And is this only relevant if you've activated effects already? Thanks.
Is this problem still ongoing for most?
I got this phone for my cuz. When i tested the camera i heard the sound and thought was a camera thing and could be off if the camera shutter sound was disabled
after handing over the phone to him he says he still hears the sound whenever he plays any kind of audio
It was a stock phone from Verizon so I can't tell if any other apps were installed
I'll check and follow the instructions here then let you guys know.
If I find anything else that i can share to help out will also share that
G
That click sound is because of our ****ty DAC ... So if you want to have bad sound quality for example uninstall all equalizer apps...if you want to have better, then keep it and live with it that it will click sometimes...after a while it should disappear

Ok cool ONEX Master I'll see if it does go away.
Thought it was in fact a hardware issue.
Cause right now out of the country and have no simple way of just returning it.
Will upgrading the ROM or rooting and changing the ROM help?

it won't help normally as most EQ/DSP are producing this sound...it's because the DAC is forced to end sound so it will produce that click sound, but after a while it should be gone
I've used 2 diff ROMs and I get the same result. Anyone else? If I listen continuely, after 1 track the next will play out of the phone speaker not earphones or thru aux jack when plugged into my stereo. I'm wondering if this is a ROM issue or a Play issue or S3 issue.
I get same issue on stock not rooted... no idea what it is

Running 11.0 jellybomb and have the same issue.

I have the same problem when I plug my S3 into my AUX jack in my car. It doesn't matter what app I'm using, if I change the song or any buffering happens (basically any interruption in the output) the output switches to my phone speaker. I have to unplug then plug back in the audio cable from the car's aux jack to get it to work again.
This happened on a stock rom and happens on the current "GOODNESS" SG3 ROM.
I'm on the stock ROM and I'm having the same problem, except it's when I get text messages and it gets interrupted, music starts playing from the phone and I pause and re-play it again for it to come out of headphones again.
I now have another issue...now my media sound get stuck on no sound. . Can't move the sound bar have to reset phone to get media audio. .. any help ?

Everyone should contact Google about this. They are looking into it for me, they even had me send them a log. It happens frequently, still hasn't been fixed....please, if you have the same issue as me report it so they have more cases...
According to Google Play Team they made some major changes which should have resolved the issue and to let them know if the issue persists. See the attached screenshot of my email for proof (or view full screen at http://i.imgur.com/Z8Hrm.png )

Some more info would be nice: f.i. what headset are you using, what button do you push
Sorry for the brief info. I am using a tekfusion twin subwoofer earphone which has is actually an headset. I have the call receive/end button on the earphone. Earlier when i had not rooted the phone (and even now in other phones),when i double click that button on the earphone , the last contact from the call log would be called. Now when i do the same, the music starts playing from my default music player on the phone. Please help regarding this. Thanks in advance.

Default is a subjective state, perhaps the creators/modifiers of CM10 have changed the default action of the button to open the music player? For me that would be logical. Gives me an easy way to access music while out on my bike.
If you want the action back, either ask the rom creator to explain how, or use a play store app to change it. Simples.
Oh, and from what you've described, the stability is not in question, given it starts the music app every time you press the button...
When listening to music using a headset (tried with Apollo and Winamp) the music plays through the phones speaker when on the homescreen. It plays through the headset when in the music app but when I tap on the home button to do something else it stops playing through the headset and starts playing through the speaker until I open the app again. I am currently running HellKat ROM but was previously using Alpine's KitKat ROM and was having the same problem. I have tried with both dalvik and art runtime t see if that would make a difference but the problem continued. If anyone knows of a solution to this it would be very appreciated. I am getting frustrated!
Thanks
SOLVED
After more messing around I managed to figure out what was causing this. It was Googles hotword detection feature. When it is enabled you can't listen to audio through a headset while on your home screen. Not sure why that is but disabling the feature fixed the problem. Hopefully they release an update fixing that because I do like my "Ok Google". Hope this helps others experiencing the same problem!
Thankyou!
Thankyou now I can finally use kitkat! btw this thread should be stickied.
You're welcome. Glad I could help! I am new to posting on this site and not sure what you mean when you say it should be "stickied". Let me know and I'll do it.

Yes, it's there. Bluetooth is unreliable with media playing, not so with phone calling, which works fine.

Ok, for 15 minutes or hours music on my phone streams fine as well (first bluetooth media play on a reboot).
Now please try calling your phone and reply. Once the call is over, on my phone any media I play over bluetooth, goes on play/ pause indefinitely. I can fix this with a phone reboot.
Other times, after I stopped using my bluetooth stereo headphone to listen to music, if I use the phone to listen to music again, phone goes on again with pausing music.
The one fun thing is that if you plug the earphones in the 3.5 jack the music plays fine, which excludes the music player from being the main problem.
Usual BT behaviour is: incoming call > stop music playing. Call ended> start music player back again on play. Something goes wrong in here, phone probably thinks a call keeps incoming and ending. At least that is what I think.

Okay.. Usual BT behaviour you described is ok what I was thinking that though the call comes and music has to stop ; and when it ends music has to resume; the resume n pause are to be done by music player... So we have to view dat angle as well.
Don't worry I'll give my best input so that you can enjoy hassle free music output!!!
