What is the color of the LED when you plug it in? Also, if it is an R800i (GSM) version, you could try unlocking the bootloader and reflashing the device with Flashtool. Check out the development forums for tutorials on both bootloader unlocking as well as flashing.

gsm version, how can i flash it when it wont come on or boot and the computer not recognizing the usb device connected. the led flashes red
If it only blinks, it seems that the battery was too low.
plug in your charger, after 1 hours charging try it again.
I remember reading a thread about blinking red light. Not sure what it was now though.

Hi guys,
I need your help. My brand new (2 weeks old!) Xperia Acro S bricked by itself!
I was browsing the web when the screen went completely black. I tried to do a hard reset (pressing power + volume up) because it worked many times before that (it was not the first time that the whole "black screen crash" happened), but the phone was completely dead.
The local Sony assistance told me (after keeping it for 6 weeks ) that they won't repair it because the phone is not currently sold in my country (I won it on Facebook).
As of now the only thing that is working is the charging light when I connect it to the charger.
The phone was absolutely and completely stock, NO rom, NO root whatsoever.
Please tell me that I did not win an extremely pricey paperweight!
Plug in charger, when it shows battery icon, press the power button until it is turn on

Did you tried Power button + Volume down button? If not hold Power button + Volume down button for 10 seconds. It should work.
Double Post, sorry.

The phone is not out of charge, it is completely dead. The only thing working is the LED notification light that turns red when connected to the charger.

Try Sony Update service. HERE is download link.
There have been some topics I think floating around that batteries have died at like 50%

Unfortunately it doesn't. I connected the phone while holding the volume down button pressed but nothing happened.
I have the same problem with xperis S.
It bricked by itself.
The only one noticeable thing i remember that when I last seen it a few minutes after it was working that the light was flashing blue and the black screen. After it it newer switched on.
Now while charging, the light turns solid red and nothing more. No flashmode. No fastboot mode. Tried to remove accu. It did not help. Sony update service and flashtool does not see the device.
There was stock firmware droid 4.0.4 and root. Nothing more. Everything worked fine. No updates were done before it bricked.
Is there any way out?

As of now there is no way out, you should contact your local sony assistance.
It would be great if you could tell us what was the cause of the death of your Xperia.

Hello guys,
I hope you can help. I'm having issues with my Arc running cyanogenmod 7 (.2 I think). I've been using cm on the device for over a year and one morning it would not turn on. I thought it's out of battery so I charged it. Later I tried to turn it on but it still wouldn't start. I further noticed that when plugged in to charge the LED was not illuminated. I tried a different battery from another arc device, but didn't change anything. (Mine worked on the other device.)
A week later or so, I tried to charge it again and suddenly the LED lit up and I was able to turn it on. Unfortunately, this was only temporarily. I checked the phone later and it was off again.
So I thought, I try to send it back to Amazon where I bought it, and maybe they don't get that I modified the software. But they did...
Any thoughts on what I could do?
Cheers,
Diophantus
Can you get the phone into flash mode or fast boot mode or have it detected by any computer?
Sent from my Xperia Arc S using xda premium
I tried flasboot (0.9 linux) and it did not work. I'll try to get a windows machine and test fast boot
Fastboot doesn't work either. Nothing pops up when connecting the device while holding the fastboot key.
Any other suggestions?
So the LED won't turn blue if you hold the menubutton and connect the USB?
And no green LED on flashmode?
Did you do something special with the phone before it happened?

Nope, it just happened over night. Didn't flash or anything. I had been using the Wifi a lot more than usual, but nothing else.
It is strange, that it turned on that one time.
Can they ask Sony if I unlocked the bootloader or how could they know this?
The vibration of my phone has gone.
I am not sure, but I think it happend after relocking the BL and flashing a stock rom.
In the past month I flashed nearly every rom and kernel, I know how to use flashtool and fastboot over ADB.
but no matter what I do, it doesn't vibrate. Except of some few seconds every now and then, it comes back.
May this be software related?
When I do a hard reset, it even doesn't vibrate when shutting down or booting up neither.
Any suggestions to fully restore hardware functions?
Thx

Open your phone keypad and dial *#*#7378423#*#*
Then go to service tests--->Vibrator and press any volume key. Then check if the phone vibrates. If it does vibrate then it is not a big problem.
Try soft reset your phone holding power button and vol+. If you vibrate stll did not work it mean it is hardware problem.

Your phone is broken. You must send it to Sony Service.

I actually got it working again!
Removed the back plate and pressed a few times along the both black tape straps, thinking the vibration hardware could have moved away from it's position due to a heavy mechanical shock, like when falling down.
Finally it worked. Thanks for the suggestions!

Folks;
trying to recover an Xperia S that obviously got confused somewhere along updating via SEUS, right now I fail fairly early: Seems I'm unable to enable Fast Boot mode on the phone. Plugging USB to my notebook while pressing Volume-Up doesn't do anything, the phone basically ends up just having the red ("charging") light on but doesn't seem to do anything else. So far Fast Boot worked well just like that on my notebook with all the Xperias I used. Anything I can do about that?
TIA and all the best,
K
Seus requires you to be in flashmode rather than fastboot which means you need to hold volume down rather than up. Sorry if that's stating the obvious and isn't your issue?

Thanks for your thoughts on that. Well, actually, I wasn't indeed aware of that (am usually working on Linux and haven't used SEUS before). However, it seems the same no matter whether I press Volume-Up or Volume-Down -- the very moment I connect the device to the computer, the LED turns red and nothing else happens.

Answering that myself: As it turned out, the phone just was totally and fully discharged after what, looking back, I think was the outcome of a failed update leaving the phone not booting up but locked somewhere during the boot process with a SONY logo and remaining so until the battery was fully and completely discharged. Fail. :/ Sufficiently charged, did a SEUS update, got things to work again. Good.
