It is not normal.
Check the signal. If the signal in the place is weak when you call, it will happens.
If the signal is good, it is possible that there are something wrong with the caller's phone.
If every time and every area you hear that voice during call, it seems your earpiece of Z1 compact is broken.
Try this:
Setting -> Call setting -> Speaker voice enhancement -> unchek
The "bird" tone pass off...

On the left earbud I almost can't hear a thing, it's not mute, just very low volume. And the right one works fine. I tested on different roms and can assure it's not related to that. Anyone knows if there's a software solution for this?

Thanks! It was already unchecked... It was nice to find the equalizer though. I still almost can't hear from the left earbud.

Hello! There are annoying static /cackling noises in the video's sound, some kind of bouncing noise, usually in the first part of the video recording. Is there any solution, or settings to fix this or it is a hardware issue? This issue is always only in the first video, the second and the others are always perfect...
No solution. In my service replace motherboard. In begin its ok, after few months noise back. Its factory bug.

Sorry to hear that It's very interesting, if I search about static noise issues, there are many posts and topics, several brands phones generates this bug (note 3,S4,S7,G2,G3...) so this is maybe not (only) hardware issue... But the only solution is to make a short video, after that make the "real" one, because only the first capture has this crackling noise. But in every day usage it is a very ridiculous, and unusable method....
Maybe I have a solution! Go to Sound &Notification/Advanced settings - More/ Sound effects and uncheck all (Dialpad, touch sound, screen lock) I tested yet, but for now I dont have any crackling and popping sound during video.
Since the upgrade my speaker stop working when i Call or recive calls, the speaker dont work until i activate the loud speaker, do a factory reset will solve the problem? BC there's no more upgrades available. Someone had this problem with the upgrade ? Please help :crying:

I have the same problem after the security update! I noticed a problem with the top speaker during calls (and voice note via Whatsapp). The sound is really disturbed, crackle and laggy. I try to adjust the volume (Through Buttons) with no result.
I bought my phone a few days ago, I had several Whatsapp videocalls with loudspeaker and all calls they hear me loud and clear. Then a few minutes later they don't hear me at all, I try to change my grip on the device but without success. Anybody getting this microphone issue when calling?
Sometimes it's not the mic but rather the connection not being good. When the connection is not good your voice tend to break off.. Sort of like bits and pieces of your words missing so the other end can't really catch what you are saying.

Thank you for your suggestion but its not the connection from either side since the call was on highspeed fiberoptic wifi (250mbps/150mbps). And the recipient of the whatsapp call is hearing like a whisper rather then bits and pieces.
So just me got this issue?

try disabling battery optimization for whatsapp. maybe is getting aggressive.
whatsapp app info -> battery -> optimize battery usage -> change filter to show all and disable optimization for whatsapp.
