Is there any way to show more than one gmail icon in the status bar for multiple gmail accounts?
I have three gmail accounts, and the status bar only shows one gmail icon when I get email from different accounts.
I'm running stock KK rooted.

In JB i get an icon for each gmail message. they are the same but all separate.
checking settings in each gmail account.

i have set up gmail but how do i get rid of the gmail notification icon?
i prefer the HTC mail notification
i like HTC mail better for viewing mails, it renders hor/vertically better than standard gmail app
but i do not get HTC mail notifications but gmail notification.
so how do i stop gmail notifications and get HTC mail notification ?

Have you entered your Gmail account details into the HTC app? Then you go into the app and you'll see your inbox. Hit Menu>More...>Settings>Notification Settings and make sure the notifications you want are all turned on.
Then if you don't like the Gmail app, delete your details from it. If you still want it again go into the inbox. Hit Menu>Settings> and at the bottom should be the Email Notification settings...turn them off.

I have unchecked the three notification options in Peep, and it continues to put the Twitter icon in the notification/status bar. I can't get it to stop. HELP!

Go into.. settings/accounts & sync/ ..click on your twitter login and disable the sync feed. that should do it

I want it to sync. I just don't want it to make the notification sound and put the icon in the notification bar. all the boxes in Peep are unchecked, including the notification sound...but it continues to notify.
never mind, I'm an idiot. I also have the Twitter app itself installed. LOL
Running stock Android. After I read emails on my desktop, the notification bar on my phone still shows unread Gmails, I cleared the cache last night, only syncing Inbox and and I unchecked the notify once box. Any thought appreciated.
Hey, I just tested there on mine and it didn't do it. Once I read the email on my desktop after approx 1 min it cleared the notification on my Nexus. That's a strange one.
Are your settings the same? Are you running stock android?
No actually I am not! But I do recall when I fisrt had my Nexus and it was the same. I am obsessive about things like that so I remember checking it and it was the very same. It is a pity you can't change the rate at which gmail syncs.
Figured it out
I had an old email marked as unread. Once I marked that as read, the notification bar acts as expected - reading emails on my desktop clears the notification bar.
To confirm, I marked an old email as unread and read a new incoming email on my desktop. The notification bar still shows unread emails. Clearing the old unread email on the desktop clears the notification bar.

I have done that but it only shows new email, it does not show basic contents likewise it does in Samsung Note
Not possible as far as I'm aware - just swipe down the bar and you see the subject line though
I have been having this problem consistently since the most recent update. This is an unlocked, unbranded S9 purchase directly from Samsung.
I have multiple email accounts (one Outlook 365, one Outlook Exchange, and Gmail via IMAP) on the stock email app - I do not use the Gmail app. More often than not, the email symbol in the notification bar (not the badge) will not clear for one message (sometimes more than one, but usually just one) even if the email was read on the phone (as opposed to on my computer or another device). The badge clears, the "Unread Mail" shows no unread messages, but the only way to clear the Notification Bar is to pull down the shade and "clear".
It's annoying to have that visual indicator that there is unread mail when there is not. Anyone else with this issue? I've cleared the Email app cache, cleared the partition cache, but have not done a factory reset (massive pain with as many accounts as I have, etc.).
