Hi guys! I don't think you've heard of me. I'm just another kernel dev from another forums. I've been developing kernels in XDA for about a year now. Anyways, getting on with it, ASKP started from galaxy nexus initially. And now, we've been making a huge success to the device itself as majority of the users run ASKP. But instead of bragging, I rather show it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=46390201
If you look around that forum, most kernels are based on ASKP.
Okay. So. Why am I here? To bring ASKP to your device. The optimus G. Why? For a complete idiotic friend.
Joking.
Anyways, please feel free to drop a post here regarding any issues kernel developers are having right now or, what you want to see in ASKP.
Cheers
Amperific.

Nice. Calling my friends, @ThatKawaiiGuy and @xboxfanj
Now for the features? I guess OC in CPU and GPU, variety of governors, and great battery life.
please make one for stock rom.
we would love to see many options of kernel on stock and on custom roms

If you just want to port your mako kernel, all you have to do is cherry-pick https://github.com/xboxfanj/kernel_msm/commit/8767da2ee3154956922e0248ea164f1dc14aead7 and fix any conflicts and then remake the defconfig (make gee_defconfig, mv .config arch/arm/configs/gee_defconfig and then copy any changes you did for mako).
Let me know if you need any help.

So, I have been on cm7 for quite awhile and just wanted to play around with something new for a bit. What is the best kernel to use with the synergy rom and why do you feel that way?

The only kernel is the stock kernel until a dev cooks something up since the source was just released today. Why would you post this in the dev section as a new thread? You should have posted in the synergy thread.
Messing around at work and was not thinking..... Sry everyone should not have placed it here

I think myn cooked godmode into the new synergy! Go check it out!

This question will probably be asked a billion times over once the kernels start dropping so this answer goes for everybody who is going to ask the same question.
When kernels do drop you will have to test each kernel to see which one fits your phone. No two phones are alike so the kernel (when they do drop) that I flash may be better for my phone than it is for your phone. Your phone may play nicer with a kernel (when they do drop) that isn't so great with my phone.
Basically it all depends on how you use your phone. Just flash each one (when they do drop) and see which is good with your phone.
I will be patient and wait..... Just want to be able to overclock and undervolt as I choose .... Good things come to those who wait..... By far and away the best sense rom I have come accross

i was wondering how to overclock the Chicago remix rom?
You can't
I'm aware that it is not currently supported, but can anyone offer some insight as to why? Will this be a thing when we finally get a legit ICS kernel specific for our device in 2016? lol I'm clearly not a dev, just a lil curious Thanks!
Source code is necessary for this to happen. And that will probably happen shortly after ICS. And it won't be long now.

Kernel source is necessary for folks like Mr X or Faux123 to work their magic. But I do wonder if something like the APK-based overclock app used on the milestone (which had a locked bootloader and couldn't do custom kernels) could be done. I don't really know much about how that works, just that it did on the Defy.

I am getting ready to dive into a new area with my EVO. I thought it would be a great time to turn out a new kernel for our EVO. I will start with gingerbread sense. Yes gingerbread is old news but it is the newest fully working OS we have. I use lionfish on all my gb roms but it doesn't support ext4. So my sdcard only has ext2 so I can use any ROM and kernel combo I want. Enough back story time for the goodies.
I have just received the ok to use lionfish as my base. So like it and freedom I plan on having several versions each progressively undervolted. I will also add ext4 support, governors, and hopefully sbc. I plan on keeping swap enabled and 2 way call recording.
My first 3 new governors
HipKat
Diablo
DirtySoap
These tributes they have more than earned with all there help and hard work.
Anything else yall would like added in please feel free to ask and I will see what I can do. Just don't ask for your own governor. Those are reserved

Glad to hear it! Please have at least one governor with a set screen off max like "InteractiveX" or "Smartass". I would also suggest making it Vipermod friendly for those wishing to experiment with UV on their own. THANKS! :good:
When this is a success bro,i have a few words for ya....."4 Kornerz Ultimate" /w "New 4 Kornerz OC Kernel" ,just sayin, lol.

That I totally agree with. I miss using VM with some kernels
Well I will have to look into the viperMod but if I remember correctly viperMod is for AOSP and not sense. Please correct me if I am mistaken. This will be a sense kernel with three prebuilt undervoltings -50, -100, and -150.
Now if all goes well I was thinking about making a whole line of kernels. Gb sense, gb AOSP, Ics, and jb. Although one thing at a time since I am new to the whole development scene.
I have only put out two roms. The first was never completed. Turtle power on the 3vo was my starter. A Ics miui ROM merged with sense that was not very easy or completely successful.
Then the dirty diablo which is a nand turned into a flashable ROM. Which turned out very well for an untested release.
If these projects keep growing like this I think I will need to create or join a team. LOL!
Like always keep an eye out because the EVO scene is getting hotter every day.
Peace,
Love, and
Happiness

I do believe vipermod does work with sense kernels - at least it does with ca1ne's underworld

Well a team can push out better projects. We all have our strong and weak points with a team hopefully all the weak points get covered.
So HipKat you you want in? I think a killer release of gb miui could be just the thing we need. Although I would like to put a nice ported launcher on it rather than their ios style launcher.

Yeah, I could do that. I might have the perfect launcher, too
Is it possible to run a tiamat based kernel or any kernel the Tiamat developers make on the Sprint GS3. Preferably with something built from a CM based ROM such as CM 10.1, Jellybam, CarbonROM? Or would it backfire and cause problems for our CPUs?
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium
Edit: If not, would it be possible to port a kernel over?
There's no kernel in the Sprint S3 development section by that name. So the quick answer is no.
Sent from the future via Tapatalk 4
Well i know that its not part of our development yet. But im curious to as if they will work for anything other than that of a snapdragon processor or if they could be broken down and restructured to work for our processors. Just a creative thought. Was wondering if there were any developers interested in maybe trying to calaborate and build a similar kernel. I like the KT747 but im not familiar with the governors. Was wondering if possible to get governors such as savagezen and brazillianwax brought over to the s3. Or if there are any kernels that contain one or the other I've yet to find them.

Ok... Kernel flashing question... probably very simplistic to most, but here goes... feel free to just throw a link at me if it answers my questions. I'll appreciate it either way!
First off...since starting this whole rooting, rom, kernel, mods, theme, etc. experience just 2 weeks ago (yes, I'm a noob, hence the question...) I've tried many different ROMs on my I317M including Jedi X 16, CyanogenMod, Paranoid Android, and a few others... Needless to say, the one I've enjoyed most so far because of it's built-in aesthetics control is AOKP officials. Currently running the 2013-08-21 t0lteatt nightly release. However, during my time on Jedi X I found the overclocking and gpu control just absolutely fantastic for gaming purposes.
My question essentially is what needs to be taken into consideration when flashing kernels? Am I able to just simply flash a performance kernel like Saber, for example, onto the AOKP ROM I'm using now and reap the benefits? What general and/or ROM-type specific considerations have to be taken into consideration?
I'm asking this 'cause I've been having some difficulty in finding a straight-forward and detailed description of the how-to's, don't-do's and go-right-ahead-and-do's on flashing kernels... so to speak.
Thanks for the help.
You can try this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=40410021
Here lots of good things about it....
You can also search neak kernel, saber also.

Neak is the bomb.com...
Using the uneak engine from the play store...
Volume issues gone...and performance is excellent...
But if you want OC....then neak is not the one...
I personally don't use OC/UV features on this device anyway...as they are not needed...IMHO...g
