Koush's "Mirroring" app info - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

Hey guys, just thought I'd let everyone know that Koush's Mirror app does NOT screen cast to a Chromecast on our phones, or any other phone besides a nexus 5. I was trying to get it to work in hopes of being able to play my emulators on my TV without having to buy Samsungs smart dock. After going to the cyanogen mod community on G+ and seeing hundreds of people asking why mirror won't work on their device (that wasn't a N5) going unanswered, and it not being clearly listed anywhere, I decided to post here in hopes that I could save someone the time and frustration.
Happy flashing!

Any fixes/workaround on xda for the sound bug on E4GT?

I'll apologize beforehand if this question has already been asked... You probably all know about the sound pool issues that cause games to crash/forceclose...
I was wondering if any of you folks know any fixes... Ive heard the gsm sgs2's have the lite ning rom which fixes that issue... Are there any roms/kernals that fix the sprint version??? (the epic 4g touch)...
Thank you before hand!!!

Calkulins v1.1 rom fixed that issue for me. Check it out here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1332837
THANKS... right now my phone is unrooted/fully stock... I honestly doubt samsung will patch this anytime soon- I've called samsung support about there buggy sound pool and they've told me themselves there's nothing in the works (currently) to fix this issue... Guess I'll have to root and flash... By the way here's the last email I sent (copy paste wood for word...)
Summary :SOUND BUG?!?! FIX?!?!*Details : I'm sure you folks are aware of the sound pool issue with the Samsung Galaxy SII... i have the Sprint version, SPH-D710, and I'm curious to know if there is a firmware release, maybe even an ETA date to fix this problem... Games in particular causes constant crashing and forced closing... Let me re-assure you that i am NOT here to bash Samsung Products, I still do love the phone aside from this bug... i did intend to use my device for gaming, although the device renders MANY games unplayable (Cut The Rope, Pocket Legends, Order and Chaos, are a few of the games i have, and ALL are sold in the Android Market, but they seem to be unplayable ONLY on this device)... Im just a concerned customer curious if there will be a fix to address this issue... Thank you very much for reading my inquiry, any information given would be GLADLY appreciated!!!

-Thank you for the feedback. I don't have any information for you at this time but I'm making note of this and I'll send it along for analysis.*--*Thank you,SamsungScotSamsung Social Media [email protected]

It was a fun ride

Hey guys, the G9 broke for the second time and I was getting tired of arches poor firmware support, so I jumped ship to the Nexus 7. I've had it for 10 minutes....and I LOVE it! I'll stop by occasionally to give a little support, say hi, and update my root thread. If someone is interested in taking over the root guide, shoot me a PM. you guys have a great community here in the G9 section and some damn awesome developers. See ya around guys.

Not so much goodbye as c'ya later, hopefully not too long either, Google are saying it will complete UK shipping on the pre-orders by the end of next week and there is one such order with my name it The Price in UK Sterling is an absolute steal for such a device, cheaper then Archos....
How does triple buffer butter taste :silly: (I say this adopting the tip-toed stance of an inquisitive child trying to catch an early glimpse of the action. )
It looks like I might be doing another round of 3G Dongle Enabling, if some one hasn't already beat me too it... I should be able to get the archos 3G Stick working with it
What can we say about the Archos Gen9's?
The hardware specification was pretty solid. although the early SD Card based ones could have done with more memory.
The hardware Implementation was "shoddy" and the Archos official firmwares seem to come with they own unique set of issues which is probably down to working around unpredictable hardware behaviour as much as anything else.
Based on the G9 Series ; It is not a brand I would recommend to anyone who just wants/expects there device to work .
I had to repair the Full Size USB Port and My Screen has been "broken" since pretty much day 1, This has been a mixed blessing really as I've found new and interesting ways of interacting with the device.
The Community! There's not many of us that got "tricked" with the Special Developer Edition nonsense.... But I will say this, Some of the Hardware Wizardry that goes on leaves me in awe. Jacking in with UART is not a place I've ever been too but it's fascinating watching this device get owned by some very knowledgeable people ( or should that be pwnd ).
So overall probably 6/10 for the device ( coming from a developers/tinkers viewpoint ) 10/10 for the work that the community have done and will continue to do.....
10/10 for the awesome community and devs for sure! The community on the G9 forums might even be better than those on the Droid INC forums (that's saying something!)
I'm lovin the taste of this butter...never before have I seen such a beautiful android experience!

Side-By-Side Multitasking

Hey Everyone,
Recently I've been wishing for a side-by-side multitasking app that would allow you to view two (or more) applications side by side (or with one above the other), similar to the 'Snap' feature in Windows 7. Whilst investigating this, I came across a piece of software called 'Cornerstone' by Onskreen. To be honest, I know little about software development, but does anyone know if this/something similar could potentially become available from the Google Play store? I think it's been included in Cyanogenmod but no other ROMs as far as I'm aware...
Thanks
There is a web browser named OverSkreen that is floating. I use it when I want to make notes from an online resource -- have word processor open behind the OverSkreen window, with OverSkreen using top or bottom half of screen and word processor the other half.
The 10.1 note will launch with side by side multitasking, I played with one recently, it works pretty well.

I wrote hovernote, a floating notepad app for $0.99: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mjlim.hovernote
There are some other apps that exist for different niches, like overskreen (browser), aircalc (calculator), and airterm (terminal emulator) but I'm finding for some reason that the play store won't let me install them on the nexus 7.
Onskreen by Cornerstone and overskreen and other "floating" apps aren't the same thing.
Onskreen has to be built into a ROM as it modifies framework heavily to give your system true windowed apps.
Really a great concept, open source and possibly being added to Cyanogenmod in the future.
For those that have no clue what this really is, check this:
http://www.onskreen.com/cornerstone/
Cornerstone is probably not going to be added to cm9 in the future. See the comment by Dianne Hackborn here for rationale against: https://plus.google.com/100275307499530023476/posts/ViCME1bb8F6
I thought I saw somewhere a comment specifically saying cornerstone wasn't going to be included in cm9, but I can't find it.

From what I've read, Cornerstone on CM9 is too 'clunky', but Cyanogen was keen to implement something similar...
There is some cornerstone work going on, it's too early in development for me to promise they will keep working in it but I know some people that have started working with it to bring to the N7 if possible.
I found a need floating calculator app the other day that will sit anywhere on the screen and can be moved around and stuff. I'll have to go back and look to find the name of it.

I think you are talking about darkcalc. It's pretty handy, for me anyway.

Yeah I've had a look through various floating apps for different tasks, such as note taking and calculating, but it'd be nice if I was able to use the apps I have already and not be limited to just floating apps. I was really hoping that something like Cornerstone would be widely available so that I could have a game open in the main section and perhaps a website or two open in other, smaller, panels.

AirCalc...works great.
We have Cornerstone nightlies on the Xoom (teameos, ICS builds, iirc).
I used them, but there were eventually too many conflicts with my third party launcher. Great idea, though.
I've used a rom a few months ago on my touchpad that someone added the cornerstone functionality too. It was actually awesome and cm at the time was playing around with it too and was gonna incorporate it I thought for cm10,but haven't heard anything in awhile. It really makes a true multi tasking environment.

You can see the video samsung released today for the device.
Basically you pick an app to fit the left side of the screen and one for the right
Video is here - http://news.yahoo.com/samsung-unveils-galaxy-note-10-1-tablet-again-115057005.html

I would love the Nexus 7 to do this,
Supposedly only a few apps work side by side. I don't think any app will do it. Probably Samsung apps only... at least what the hands on review said. Maybe more apps loaded later.
Its also releasing with ICS with no date of JB. With Samsungs track record it could be a while. LG pulled this stunt with the G2x and it was months. Samsung don't update their devices very fast. They rather throw out a new device first.

PTPT-New Beta Software for Android

Hey guys, just wanted to share this with you. Thought it was pretty neat and a fresh take on android since the roms lately kinda seem like the same old stuff anymore, not to put down the great work the devs of this community put out. I just signed up to be a beta tester so hopefully they'll email me back saying i can test this software. I believe this would be considered closed source, but would be great if they approached this community for input into this OS. If this has been covered already, mods please let me know and this posting can be deleted.

I didnt see any new OS there. Just some apps running on a year old galaxy s2. The video was from almost a year ago

New PTPT Beta Release
Hi t1.8matt,
I was able to try PTPT's previous version and I agree -> a definite fresh take on android They'll be launching a newer release some time next week. Probably Friday March 22, so stay tuned. Along with the release, there will be an easier way for beta testers to login and download the .apk.
I wanted to share a video with you re: PTPT but currently, I am not allowed to post outside links
Cheers!
Honestly, I watched a couple videos on it and dont really find the UI pleasing to the eye. But I guess I will keep an eye on it just in case.
PTPT New UI
Hi jsgraphicart, PTPT's initial UI needed to be a lot more user friendly. I saw the latest version of their UI and there has been much improvement. Hopefully, you'll join as a beta tester when the new release comes out next week. I'll make sure to send you the link.
Cheers!

Thanks so much for trying the link. We're in the process of making the LOGIN a lot easier, with a link to download the .apk.
It should be ready by this Friday, March 22.
I'll let you know once everything is done.
Cheers!

We want Android 4.4 kitkat on our Galaxy Nexus!

I made a Facebook page for Galaxy Nexus owners to get Android 4.4 kitkat! Share it Guys! Lets make a statement to Google!!
1 this is a wrong place for this thread.
2 Google won't care a **** for the gnex users.
3 you can always use the 4.4 custom ROMs in the Dev section.

brace yourselves !!! those posts are coming
I liked the page. I cant believe Google have abandoned their original Nexus, which is still a top end phone even today.
Plus ive noticed on my tegra4 tab that Chrome is stuttery when scrolling but its smooth on my GOOGLE Nexus. Are Google optimizing software to run better on their products?

youve been on xda for a year and you still dont know how it works ? cmon man
I've tried the two 4.4 roms in the Development forum. There is still some graphic glitches, but i'm with "A taste of KitKat" since yesterday, had 1 random reboot, deep sleep is amazing, etc. And it's like 48h since the Nexus5 is on sale ! Imagine in 1 week what we will have !
I doubt a petition is going to do anything. Google has made up their mind.
Thread closed. A while ago, Google made a set of guidelines for other manufacturers that included 18 months support - I do not remember the full details of this alliance but if you Google it you should be able to find all the details. Galaxy Nexus has had 18 months support so Google have decided to stop supporting it... sure it sucks for you guys but that's what businesses do to make profits.
