can i now what i'm flashing?!screenshot please
It's not so hard, guys. Just go into recovery, select the bootanimation.zip file and then flash it.
hello, do you know how to revert to default bootanimaton?
Is there any screenshot? How to revert back?
guys i've attached 2 picture from the boot animation....look at those 2 pictures and spot the difference....is a circle that spins around NASA logo...so you have a change to see what it will look like.

How did you do that ?I mean i understand the part0,part1 folders, desc.txt and saving every frame, first one as 10001.png, the second one as 10002.png, and so on.
I just want to know how do you create the custom animation ? Generally, you can just download a video and extract the frames and the put them in a sequence. But,what if you want to create an animation using your own pic or something like that ?How would you do that ?

Thanks to the work of invisiblek and some Google searching I was able to come up with the following tool:
This tool takes a 720x1280 .PNG image and converts it to a recovery-flashable splash screen in a single click.
A video so you can see what this changes: http://youtu.be/XXaBJTVQ2Sw
How to use:
Making your own splash screen:
0) Download and extract the .zip file
1) Make a 720x1280 .png image you want to be your splash screen (this comes in-between the boot animation and the quick Samsung logo flash)
2) Name it "initlogo.png" without the quotes
3) Place it in the PNGtoConvert folder
4) Run the "PNG-2-RLE.bat" file
5) You are finished! A "flashthisinrecovery.zip" will appear in the same directory as the batch files. Just flash it in recovery and enjoy your new splash screen!
Note: If you want the .RLE and not the whole flashable, it can be found as "initlogo.rle" in the "kernel" folder or you can pull it from the kernel folder inside the "flashmeinrecovery.zip"
Converting an .RLE that you made back to a .PNG for editing:
0) Download an extract the .zip file
1) Copy the "initlogo.rle" you want to convert to a .PNG to the RLEtoConvert folder. It must be named "initlogo.rle"
2) Run the "RLE-2-PNG.bat"
3) PNG will be in the PNGtoConvert folder named "initlogoOUTPUT.png"
Other notes:
I have included the stock initlogo as a .PNG named "initlogoSTOCKBACKUP.png" for your reference/backup purposes. If you want to test the tool with it, remember to rename it to initlogo.png
If you flash a new kernel/rom the splash will revert to stock. To get it back, just flash the "flashmeinrecovery.zip" again. You don't need to reconvert it or anything.
This has only been tested with the d2_vzw but will work with all USA (S4 CPU) variants!

if you mean animated? no. if it's just a static picture in .gif format, convert it to PNG. just finished creating my new one. so stoked to have this ability!
EDIT: tested it and flashed my own creation. WOW. to go from that black screen to this bright and colorful one. looks HUGE and truly beautiful. there is no loss in color or anything. awesome!
Will this work on Jellybean leaks?

Works on Sprint GSIII. Seemed odd and redundant that .png would be in the name for the initlogo and indeed it did not work that way. Saving it as a PNG file with the name "initlogo" only did the trick, which makes sense.
I modified Max's terrific logo to exclude the MetroPCS tag and it is attached. Looks great.
if you want it I can attach the full sized one without the MetroPCS logo. that's just the stock logo with some Photoshop filters applied.

How to Restore Original Samsung bootanimation for phones that have custom startup animations, as leaked 4.2.2:
The procedure is simple but demands Root and a file manager also whit Root permission (personally I use Root Explorer).
1 - Download and unzip the file BootAnimation_S3.rar here: Download
2 - With Root Explorer navigate to the folder:
system/media
Copy and paste replacing the original files with 2 available:
bootsamsung.qmg and bootsamsungloop.qmg
(or rename your original files before replacing)
3 - Now go to the folder:
system/media/video/shutdown
and replace the file shutdown.qmg
4 - You can set permissions as rw-r--r--
to new files
5 - If you want to disable bootup sound go to:
system/media/audio/ui
and search for PowerOn.ogg
Just rename it to PowerOn.ogg.backup
(or any other extension).
Well done!
Ready, restart the device and now you have the animation, startup and shutdown, without Logos from carriers.
This procedure has been tested OK

Hi guyz, thx for the tip.
I'm on ARHD 31.0, testing mike1986 last baby
Wanted to get rid of the bloatware and tried this solution. But when I apply the changes, I lose the screen-off function (sleep) even when using the power button, and I have no bootscreen at all.
Weird. I had to reinstall the ROM to recover...

Perfect, saved me time to extract them from the previous leak.
I also gave them rw-r--r-- permission just to be exactly like the original
root 4.2.2 leak
I flashed with mobile odin pro it installs supersu . and itself onto the rom. I also wiped data . cache and dalvik. . this worked very well for me as it did not increase the flash counter. clean install. rooted while flashing. phone firmware is official with root. one flash and no need for triangle away. definitely worth the $6

I did confirm this is working fine.
If you use the stock bootanimation from OMEGA FILES (PRO or not) >>> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2253629 , the bootlogo is changed to stock, but the loop is OMEGA.
Then use the instructions from POST#1, then you fix it and you will have the stock bootanimation.
I did used the similar instructions to others ROMs and devices. Works fine too.
Thanks
