[Q] What is the SAR value mentioned in the manual? - Huawei Ascend P6, Mate

Hi fellow P6 owners,
I bought the P6 after a lot of research including the SAR rating which seemed acceptable as per the following website and a few others that confirmed it to be "0.64W / Kg" (US) -
androidvipclub<dot>com/sar-values-of-all-android-phones/
However, when i received the phone and checked the manual, it says that the SAR value is 1.590W / KG !
This is more than double the value specified in reviews / websites like the one above.
I hope Huawei isn't quietly varying the SAR limit on a country by country basis. Is that even possible?
Also, could anyone please post what they see as the SAR value in their copy of the manual?
It would be helpful to include the country of purchase.

Bump! Could anyone care to check their P6 safety guide that came along with their phone and report what is the Actual SAR of this phone? I think the actual SAR is way higher than what is being reported on websites everywhere.

Thanks! I am assuming that is what is written in your safety guide that came in the box. In which country did you purchase the handset from?
It is strange really, here in India, the safety guide says - "The highest SAR value for this device is 1.59 W/Kg".
How can the SAR value for the same handset vary by such a large number in different countries? How is that possible?
It would be great if any others who own the P6 can confirm what they see in their manual / safety guide.
Edit: It appears that the differences in values could be because of different SAR standards (EU vs. US). If anyone who purchased this phone in the US could confirm this then i think that could be the reason for the different SAR values.

It is from Austria.

Makes sense then, as per the following website, the SAR values in your manual are as per EU standards. Maybe the SAR US rating is 1.590 W / Kg.

But phones don't emit enough energy, or energy of the correct type to be harmful to humans.
The radiation emitted is non-ionizing so it cannot damage cells, so the effect is limited to heating. It would take well over a week for a phone to melt a block of ice the size of your head. Your head has a very efficient mechanism for regulating heat: blood flow.
People should stop worrying about mobile phone use as a health issue. The science is pretty convincing and was established by the likes of Einstein a long time ago and without being refuted since. Packaging it into a consumer device doesn't change that.

I was just browsing their site about 2 weeks ago, and it was there.

Well, the other countries are still selling, and the UK is one of the finickiest markets, so if there's problems, it isn't obvious yet.

Good lord this is a sensitive forum. No one here experienced an overheating problem and a handful have a malformed cover. Here's Samsung's statement.
"Contrary to certain media reports, the slight disfiguration that has formed on the rear surface of the Galaxy Tab S has been attributed to a limited number of defective back covers, which has no relation to the overheating of the application processor or the material used for the back cover. We would like to assure our customers that we have already resolved the issue. We ask affected customers to please contact their nearest Samsung Electronics customer service center.”Some of the initial batch of N10.1-14's had BT issues and all have a "lumpy" back cover. Lumpy in that the parts it's covering aren't uniformly flat so if you run your hands over the back with pressure or cant it in the right light you can feel and see it's not perfectly flat. For the S' there's been some reports of bezel separation, back cover deformation, and unevenness in the AMOLED display. Most likely they are start-of-production teething issues. These aren't Bentley's, they're mass produced consumer devices. X% are always going to have some type of production issue. As long as "X" equals single digit percentages than Samsung's no worse than anyone else. Apple's devices cost more than Samsung's and don't come with free accessories and s/w. Their products have as many or more issues than their competitors which proves price doesn't equal perfection. At least not until you get in to six-figure (Bentley) territory.
I actually have the back cover deforming slightly, and samsung has allowed me to exchange the unit, I will pop over to their store to check this problem out, although they did say most of them are like that.
Also is anyone getting heat problem near the USB area during charging
Thank

There is a separate thread in the OnePlus 3 Accessories sub Forum regarding battery. THIS is the latest recommendation there. Though they seem to sell both OEM (see its definition in the website) battery and their own battery, the second one seems ok as per the posts there.

Thanks man
Just wondering, how do they get OEM parts (and are they really OEM)? Because AFAIK OnePlus does not sell OEM parts to third parties ... (unless their policy changed)

AFAIK there are no real "OEM" parts of OnePlus available in the market. That is why I asked the OP to read the definition of OEM in the website. I am reproducing it in full though it is long.
"The term OEM stands for 'Original Equipment Manufacturer', the exact meaning differs in several industries.
To us, OEM means that the part is the same part used within your device, using the same materials and specifications.
We use the term OEM to cover many parts from refurbished, used and new components, the exact condition will be stated in the items description.
In some cases when the part supplied is made up to several components (for example an LCD assembly) the part may have been assembled by a 3rd party vendor using OEM parts meaning that consumable may differ (such as adhesive used)
Although strict testing procedures are put in place to ensure the quality of the part these testing practices and procedures may differ from the checks manufacturers use.
Any hardware supplied as OEM will not have any quality loss or loss of features and covered under our extensive returns policy.
As in many cases we dont obtain directly from the devices manufacturer, nor in some cases are we affiliated with device manufacturer in any way and they are not involved in the testing or sales process of the component we sell."

Thanks for the reply, I should've taken a better look at the site.

Does EVR-L29 only come in Blue?

Or is silver really available for EVR-L29?
Available in silver right here. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Huawei-Mat...cdecb9854:m:mbmVlXzSrP9-WyZWmeS0z2w:rk:1:pf:0
I just bought a blue from him. I've purchased a mate 8, p9 and p9 pro from this seller before. I debated hard on buying silver but for every picture I saw where it looked silver, I saw two more where it looked too purple.

Yeap, that's the one I was going to buy but I was certain only blue is available for EVR-L29. All the other sellers online (ebay, amazon, wondamobil, etc...) only do EVR-L29 in blue. He's the only one doing silver. Interesting.
Got it in silver bought it from mobyshop Singapore they have international shipping methods.

Ye you often see the blue one or china version in silver, there are some reviews from South Asian regions youtubers where you can sometimes see a view of it.
Not really good at photos and still have the back film on the phone but you can get an idea :

Exactly my thoughts
It depends on the region it's sold in. I know in Malaysia it's sold in both blue and silver, while in Hong Kong it's in blue only.
Silver does exist, it's just more rare.

Rebranding a Chinese Mate 20 series phone isn't possible. They will probably add play store, but that's the extent of what they can do.
who cares about the color? I assume you will throw a case on it anyway... ?

It's not. Trust me. My full time job is reverse-engineering Huawei devices.
Many of the Chinese resellers who rebrand phones are my customers.
If someone tells you it is, they're mistaken. They're either scamming you, or they don't realize the changes in oeminfo for the Kirin 980 generation of phones. The oeminfo is encrypted/signed for each individual device, and modifying the regional branding isn't possible. Having a fully rebranded device isn't possible. Nobody has developed a way to do it, and sadly, it's looking unlikely to be able to fully rebrand the phone.
I'm only telling you to help you not get scammed. I'll be very impressed if you prove me wrong.
Do you have such a device in-hand? A screenshot of the About Phone screen?

It's not an issue of being able to write to the memory of the phone. Anyone can do this with an unlocked bootloader. The issue is the regional branding of the phone, and the inability to change it from all/cn to something else due to device-specific signing/encryption.
It's fine if you don't believe me, but I think you will be disappointed with what happens if you trust they can do it.
SmartPhonesFan said:
man absolutely no .. huawei /honor just making one production line where motherboards goes through the manuf. process and at the end of the line

branding or region that is irrelevant..

It seems that you have been very, very badly misinformed about both Huawei's production process and the relevancy of region/branding. Still, I'm very interested to see what the reseller ends up doing, so please let us know.
I did a quick search for EVR-L29 Malaysia and did come up with a midnight blue or phantom silver for sale on Expansys.
Ye Malaysia and Singapore are the only known regions that i know of which have both color EVR-L29, I'm not sure about 3rd party sellers, if it's true or not but since i bought it from an official seller/store, i have the phone and it's legit EVR-L29 phantom silver but not sure about the others. You're also covered with the 2 years Huawei warranty + mpen and smart cover free (maybe a limited time offer).
Most EVR-L29 from resellers are coming from HK supply and HK only have Blue for now in global version, that's why you see most of the time Blue ones.
