I was wondering if it would be possible to adapt a recovery to be used with a locked bootloader.
I have a xperia t and in this device some developers have managed to get cwm and Philztouch working with locked bootloaders.

I was able to load CWM in locked bootloader. Glitches are too much, hack is too dirty and CWM has little problems like can't mount system ,etc.
Hope I would work on it once I have time.

You can make a thread in development section including your current progress ,where other devs can make it better

Go on, lets make this a possibility. Cwm for locked bootloaders would be amazing

Maybe it can be used for rooting methods on 4.3 like XSP, XZ, and other xperia devices

With a recovery for locked bootloaders we could flash a zip of a 4.3 rom (for locked bootloaders) and then flash a patch for root. This is the way I rooted my xperia t

Is it a requirement of Custom ROMs to flash a Custom Kernal as well or can the stock Kernal be used. I'm using the latest Baseband that was supplied with the ICS update?

Yes, whenever you change ROM you should change the kernel as well. In the thread from the ROM it says which kernel you should use. For example for CyanogenMod you need to use the kernel provided. But there are also kernels which can be used for more than 1 ROM, like DoomKernel

The last time I flashed a custom ROM was on my X8 and it was stock all the way with the Kernal.
Does the boot loader need to be unlocked to flash a new Kernal?

OK. I think I'll stick as I am for now as I really want a vanilla ICS ROM with all hardware working, Software buttons and the hardware back, home & menu button disabled in Android but active in CWM.

It is not that hard to unlock the bootloader. It is way easier than it looks. And it gives you much more options to customize etc. It really recommend to unlock your bootloader

I'll look into unlocking the boot loader when I get in.
Are there any Vanilla ICS ROMs available?

Here is a list of almost all custom ROMs available: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1572904
There must be a ROM that fits you

Could you explain how to unlock bootloader on arc lt15i
When I go into service menu it says bootloader unlock allowed: no
I know jinx13 does it for a fee but are there any other methods?
Thus would be really helpful as I want to use custom Roms but can't find any that work with stock firmware
Cheers
I don't know it when it says bootloader unlock allowed: no

Post in the right section. questions goes in to Q/A section. Read rules before posting.
Absolutely NO, locked bootloader's always stuck with the default kernel.
Technically yes. But only from official firmware ftf files and using flashtool

you'll get bootloop if you install custom kernels

Hi, when I updated to jelly bean from ice cream sandwich I lost my root and now I can't get it back. I have downloaded the latest "root toolbox" or what ever it's called that you use to root the Xperia devices (this one had tools to root Google glass so it can't be that old). I've ran both normal and the Xperia Z version but non of them worked. Please help, respond to this post or email me, and excuse my bad english... Thanks in advanced!

We can't root JB. You must wait or you should install pre-orderrooted JB.

Of course it will break after the update.
Is there any way I can get an other Rom on it now sins I can't root it?

Flash stock ICS via flashtool.
Root and install CWM.
Then flash this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=42011328

XAS Root
here's what i've done, thanks to cobrato for the guide.
from stock JB, flash http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2309117 in fastboot
then copy paste http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=42005929&postcount=3 to internal storage
reboot into recovery (i use TWRP) to flash it, reboot into system, done.
that's what i've done.
and of course, you must UNLOCK your BL above all steps.
So if the only way I can get root is to flash a custom Rom, should I use CM or the leaked pre rooted Sony version or anything else's. My phone is starting to run priti slow, but I do enjoy Sony's "small apps". Is there any way to get those on CM?

Before I go about bricking my phone, is it possible to make any changes to framework on locked bootloaders?
Sent from my LT28at using Tapatalk 4 Beta
It should be possible.
XZXperience mods framework a lot and it works on locked bootloader.
Also you can't really brick a locked bootloader

So it might be possible to inject Halo from paranoid android into the stock framework for locked users?

I don't know about that much bro, but I don't think that relocking bootloader is possible but you should ask ansebovi or paper13579, they must know better and instead of saying bro just hit thanks if I am of any help
Edit - just found that post you were talking about and looks like it's possible to relock bootloader with ta partition backup but made the backup before unlocking the bootloader otherwise it won't be possible
