Decided to go completely back to stock, and went to 4.1.2 flashing with odin, then flash to 4.3 with odin.. no problems at all in flashing process, booting.. my only problem now is restoring.. I came from android 4.4, so naturally i am missing a whole emulated storage! anyone knows of a way to retrieve this? any help is much appreciated.

I've been searching arround but can't find a solution for my issue; i have a rooted desire, with a stock rom with a modified kernel (for the battery fix); i got an OTA but i can't seem to apply it. I've even toggle dthe signature (and the other thing you can toggle, can't rememebr what its called!) through recovery but even then the installation gets aborted.
How can i apply the OTA? i don't mind loosing root 'cause it's easy enough to do if i want it again.
And i know i can just flash a newer rom but from my experience (winmo), if i start flashing roms, i'll never stop!!!
UPDATE: Ok, now i've messed up; I restored my previously backed up version (old kernel), then rebooted the phone, istalled the update and now it just boots onto htc splash screen then reboots. I can boot into hboot but when i try and go into recovery i get the picture with the phone and a red triangle with an exclamation mark inside!
Help please!!!
****ING NOOBS!!!!
Seriously, read the other threadas about how you CANNOT APPLY AN OTA TO A ROOTED ROM WITHOUT CAUSING ISSUES!!!!
The point is it wasn't a rooted Rom, it was a stock Rom with a stock kernel but a rooted phone.
And seriously man, if you're not going to help just f*** off.

Hey..Stock Kernel+Unrevoked=Rooted Stock Rom..
It wont take in an OTA..
If you need the OTA, you do need to unroot.
Ok then, i obviously messed up.
Now i'm downloading a stock rom and i'm going to flashh the ruu throgh fastboot. Should that work?
Any advice would be really great guys, i just want to get this fixed.
It should..
Ok, i'll try that and report back in case anybody finds this thread helpful in the future!
Update: it worked! I'm out of the woods!!
Note to self (and anybody else who dosn't know): OTA are a big no-no for andt rooted device, no matter what rom or kernel you are running!!
Hello Everyone! I was wondering if it was possible to reformat the L710 (Encrypted through CyanogenMod 10.1-20130304-EXPERIMENTAL-d2spr-M2 (yes I know, overly specific...) Android 4.2.2. I tried to erase the whole file system through ClockworkMod but was unable to (I was able to brick it temporarily, but fortunately was able to use ODIN to be able to get my phone to boot back to the Android OS!) So I was hoping that someone here would be able to point me in the right direction (or answer??? ehhhh???) in order to remove the OS and start off with a zeroed out phone. I don't have any preference with what method that is provided (beggars can't be choosers) but I don't have a lot (or any) experience with ADB (but would be excited to try it!!). Thanks in advance for the people up to the challenge of helping me!
If you can still get into ClockworkMod, Try this-
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1904099. Please follow carefully. This will get you back to stock, unrooted, with stock recovery. It will give you another file to flash if you want custom recovery back after returning to stock.

Hi guys.. I tried installing jelly bean on this device (i8160p and it's not mine) using odin and a stock 4.1 rom I got from samsung updates(I have no root and I went from a never-touched stock)... All went fine, It's working and has all the features. Except that now its owner is asking me constantly to revert back to the original os, since he did find 4.1.2 very slow. So I went back the same path as in the first place in an attempt to get the original gingerbread : I downloaded a stock 2.3 from the site and then tried flashing it.. All again went smooth, with no problems, until I got stuck on the bootscreen and noticed that there was no way to access recovery(download mode working fine though)... So what I'm left with now is a non-booting gingerbreak or the possibility to stay in jellybean(flashing it still works), I'd prefer if I could go back to GB; I think the problem is that there was some conflict caused by jellybean which will require a reset that I can't of course do since I can't boot into recovery, and I don't see any way to install a custom recovery. So can this be done any other way, I'm afraid I'll break this phone before I'll even come up with anything since this is my first experience with roms and boot on an android;
info : as I mentioned There is no root (for now. I might however get into that from jellybean, but I'd rather not if it's possible) and the model is i8160P . an emphasis on the P here since it's the reason I can't find any custom roms, and all I'm left with is the stuff in here
Edit : got gingerbread back after following what angrybb has suggested
Flash the working JB, and after that root your phone like here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2139263 Reboot to recovery and after that follow the howto: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2352064 just in step 8 use original gb firmware.
If you can't get adb root access from stock recovery then flash kernel with cwm, for jb for example this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2304432 or this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2171054
After flashing one of those kernel, again follow: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2352064 , again in step 8 use gb fw
Ok I'll see
Thanks man I'll try what you suggested as soon a I can...
I have a question though: now I noticed that some people fixed this issue by dowloading some other parts (.pit and something else), but of course I'm unable to find these for the model with the P... Now If someone can please tell me if these files have anything to do with the re-partion option in odin(I heard that it does format everything and not just put things on top of things).... Is using it safe given that I don't mind losing data, or should I stay away from it ?
For angrybb : the phone still shows as i8160p in the about section and has access to network...
Here there is a lot talking about pit files, some tehniques with flashing one fw after another, but with no real explanation why this should be done this way. I dont like doing things like that, i want to understand what i am doing. I still haven found some in depth info about pit files.
Anyway, i upgraded from GB to JB with kies, after that i compared some parts of fw and pit file is not changed. Pit from GB and JB have same md5 in my phone, so it is the exactly same file.
I know that method i suggested is not short and plain easy but it is tested and working.
Thanks
Sorry for the delay... For anyone with same problem just follow what angrybb has suggested, but do not under any circumstances ignore backing-up CSPSA_FS and MODEM_FS if you care about your phone's ability to make calls !
hey, maybe you guys could also help me out? i came from a custom ROM that i was having problems with so I wanted to go to an official ROM instead. Originally i came from a GB stock ROM, then i went straight to CM 10.1 but i didnt have any signal on my phone so i tried flashing original stock 4.1.2, now im stuck on the boot screen and i cant access recovery mode. please help?
P.S. my phone is i8160
Deleted a few system apps' with root uninstaller by accident on the phone, been trying for a few days to fix it, though failed. Thinking about re flashing the official firm ware. And hopefully getting the phone back to it's fully working order again.
It's currently running on 4.1.2, phone rooted, using I think a stock ROM though have CWM.
As said I want to reflash 4.1.2, this webpage (below) is about updating to 4.1.2. Can I still use the links/info on this web page? Its this relevant? http://www.android.gs/update-galaxy-grand-jelly-bean-4-1-2-xxamd6/
Or maybe members could be so kind to add a better link with instructions how to reflash my phone on stock firmware.?
I hear that 4,2.2 has some minor issues? So guessing 4.1.2 is a better? Or how about 4.4.Kitkat?
This might sound stupid, do I uninstall CWM before I reflash firmware? So I don't need to uninstall first 4.1.2,to install new 4.1.2.right? I am obviously a newbie, steep learning curve
Any links/info' help will be much appreciated, thankyou,
Alex
So i have to give a little history here. A while ago i put CM on a buddies phone, he didnt care for it, and we put it back to stock and i think we just left it rooted (this was months ago, so im not completely sure) anyways hes been doing OTA no problem, and the other night i guess he did the new one from ATT. i think this is 4.4.2, from doing tons of research it looks like his Knox got tripped, no big deal he just wants the phone to work.
As of now it boots up to the ATT logo and the globe freezes and thats it.
I was able to install TWRP, and then reinstall CWM (through Odin) thinking that might help. I've tried to flash i think 4.3 JB stock on there and then i get the "Auth Failed" line at the end.... i've tried factory resets, and attempted to update from his sd card but the files zip files are not being recognized...
in case its not obvious, ATT, Galaxy s3
Any ideas???

You can try to flash a NE4 ROM on it through TWRP or CWM. If that doesn't work, try to flash NE4 with Odin.
Have you tried a factory reset?

ya tried everything, tried flashing through odin... absolutely nothing. i think guess my buddy has done the 4.3 updates for a while, and the latest bricked his phone... i guess we may have left it rooted, im not entirely sure. but he went and got an s5. i feel bad since i originally rooted it. but he's been doing updates without taking any time to research if he was causing any problems.
My current concern is my s3 was rooted as well and was thinking of going back to a stock rom and bootloader, but im worried if i update to 4.3 if that will cause a brick.... anyone know??
Have you tried the 4.3 firmware? Enewman17 has it in a thread in the development section I think.
