Hi all,
I'd been wondering why sometimes the audio quality from the. Google Play Music app is pretty awful and lacks bass.
Well I've found a way to get the same quality of audio as you get from the Walkman app. This tip may also work with other audio apps.
First have the Google Play Music app on one of your home screens that you can get to quickly. Have some music ready to play.
Open the Walkman app and play any music that you might have showing.
Now quickly pause the Walkman music and go to the home screen where Google Play Music is and press the play button
You should now hear a better quality sound. I've tried this with the out of the box ear buds and some cheap TDK extra bass buds.

Can't edit my post on the phone as the app crashes but forgot to say that the tip works on 4.3. Haven't tried Kitkat yet to see what the audio is like.

On Jelly Bean, without your tricks, the Sony EQ isn't working with other apps than Walkman :

Using sense with beats plugin (srs enhancement and all that extra options)
Idk but with the roms that include beats plugin, i can't seem to get good quality on poweramp...even when beats is disabled..quality seems to be lowered somehow.
Can someone suggest me a good music player?
When I'm not using sense I use Google Play Music with MusicFX from the market

musicfx doesn't seem to appear in stock music player...maybe because of beats plugin already there.

If you're using ICS it should be in Settings > Sound > Sound > Sound Effects
It's not available for Sense 4, just use Google Play Music and press menu > Sound Effects whilst playing a song
Take a look at PlayerPro. It's a good player with iTunes sync.

Then you're not using the proper headphones...trust me i use in-ear original Beats headphones & Sony MDR EX57 Premium with Beats Audio ROM (stock music player) and i must say it sounds very good
I used Winamp Pro with some eq presets (what can i say...quite nice) and Player Pro with more bass and increased volume (that was a bit irritating for the ear, but at least it was louder)...after that i flashed a custom ROM with Beats plugin...uninstalled the above mentioned apps
My advice is for you try Winamp and Player Pro or try some other headphones

These earphones are worth ~ 80 bucks so i guess they're not that bad but i'll give winamp pro a try...
Just a question from people using sense rom with beats plugin...do you guys get a difference in sound quality when not on a rom with beats plugin because i found out that beats plugin ruin other audio players (though the plugin is disabled in other music players)...
one word POWERAMP
:-D
I use the n7 player from the markede its running smooth
i really like the look of zplayer. its in the metro style from windows phones, and its super slick!
or you should try the cm9 music app
I use Poweramp, the effects selection is the best I've found from any music player. Although it may not look the best, in my opinion it offers the best sound quality and customisation.
Hello community.
I've recently installed the ICS MIUIv4_2.7.27]v.6.0[AROMA] [Android 4.0.4] ROM on my PLAY. I am loving it so far but there is one(and only)thing that bothers me, I tend to listen to music from the speakers but since I've updated the ROM the volume is very low and quality not the best as I used to have. No option for xLoud not any other loudness manager. Could anybody direct me somewehre I could get it to play music louder and better??
thanks
The play store has a bunch of apps that do.this
Personally, I use Equalizer, just mess with the EQ sliders until.you find something.that works.

So what's the best app for adding universal graphic equalizer functionality? I usually use Power Amp, but I'm experimenting with Google Music to see if I could live with streaming my music on a Nexus 4. The two things I miss most are my EQ and crossfading. I know there are apps for an EQ, but not sure which is best. Crossfading I'll just have to live without.

Try miui music player.. its not integrated on the widget but the apk itself shows a graphic eq. http://www.imgur.com/6v3bc.png on top it shows. I picked up 2.3.2 signed and its working on unofficial slim kko12
I'm looking for something that will affect the audio Google Play Music puts out, not another player.

Oh, my bad. Try the rezound mod. From what I read its a system wide change.

This app works system wide, can be found in the play store works wonders.....
Slim bean SG2.....
I little digging around on the Play Store and I've found an awesome universal EQ app. It's simply called Equalizer and it has free and paid versions. It just works. I love it.

Is anybody experiencing this? The music player slices the album art in half when changing songs, it's not that bad, but it's annoying.

It still does it :/ maybe I'll just go back to old Google Play Music, I like it more than stock LG music player, stock LG music player sounds bad with headphones on, even with dolby, thanks anyway! It was worth the try the stock LG music player has cracks, when I put the bass up, and it's not even that my headphones are cracking, it's the crappy poor equalizer, because when I use Google Play Music with MusicFX, it doesn't crack, the only thing is that the volume is really low, but I love heavy bass with headphones.

Try ac!d sound mods.
Viper4Android (V4A) will give you all the mods for headphones you could wish for and it works with all players, I've had the sliced albums but if I exit and reenter the app it goes away sometimes. You should try XenoAmp it has Google Music support and is featured by a Dev here at XDA.

For me it is, I updated to CM11 specially For Google Music. Because Stock would give me the "couldn't play the stream you requested" error.

Play Music seems to work on CyanogenMod 11 (KitKat), but the option to have it save to SD card does not show in settings on my Droid RAZR Maxx (spyder, xt912). That's a big problem for me since I have a large music library.

Play music works flawlessly on any KK ROM, with great sound and the added bonus of the complete and quite useful Cyanogen DSP.

Except that the save to external SD card is not available under settings even though Google claims it should be. At least it isn't showing on my Motorola Droid RAZR Maxx (model xt912, aka spyder) running 3/31 nightly of CyanogenMod 11 (i.e. running KitKat 4.4.2). Once this problem is fixed than I will agree that it works flawlessly.
I'm currently trying to use the Music2SD module of the Xposed framework to work around the problem. It didn't work with the latest version of Music2SD (version 1.8). Now I'm trying the previous version (1.7.1) and it looks promising.

What music app are you guys gals using to listen to your downloaded songs?
I'm trying most of the ones on XDA Android apps forums, Pulsar, wave, minmia.
VLC isn't working right, lagging hugely and redrawing incorrectly.
No winamp for Android?

Try Black player. I was big on Shuttle as it's a quality app with material design but Black player just does it all well and has its own style which I like.

Thank you for your suggestion, works very well, and it has the "delete" song from library option, double tap for favorite is nice.
There actually used to be a WinAmp for Android. It was nothing like the Windows app. But anyways, I've used every music player out there and there is only 1 that does everything I want it to. PowerAmp. It's only a couple of dollars for the full version but to me, it's totality worth it.

Before I used spotify and Google music I used PowerAmp as well. I'm pretty sure you can even use the Google music app for local music.

I am using the Sony one (Music was walkman), IMO one of the better, has a nice interface
I have been using Poweramp full version for years. The sound quality is superior when compared to Google Play Music. I have to use Play Music for my subscription but I use Poweramp for my side-loaded and purchased music.
Loaded Poweramp again, the delete function is too embedded.. is there a setting to make it more tap and hold to delete?
And what are the odds this would happen?!
OK has anyone else used pi music player? How can I set Poweramp to play songs as detailed and clear?
Esira with viper4android and dolby all the way !!!!
