Hello XDA, it's been a while. So randomly me S3 (unrooted stock 4.3) has been having connectivity issues with my computer. I got the code 10 error, so I looked online and found this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1797344 . After deleting the UpperFilters file, the error code still persists. I looked at other threads and people's situations differ from mine. My device is working fine, it still charges with the PC, only it won't connect using MTP, but will using PTP. I've come here cause you guys are the best of the best. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
This is the folder that UpperFilters was deleted from: http://gyazo.com/433974da04f74aa00b84b7b212d1bfc3
as the Portable Devices folder didn't have it in there.

Yes, I am the newbie here, and my first post. Please take it easy on me. I been experiencing this problem for over a week now and have searched many places for answers. So if the following issue has a thread already, obliviously I missed. Will you kindly lead me to it ?
Anyhow. I am aware that the Galaxy Nexus does not support USB Drive, but instead MTP. I'm fine with that. However, every time I wire myself to my PC (Vista 32 bit), the Gnex does not appear in "My Computer". It does however, appear in the Device Manager as "Galaxy Nexus" with a Yellow Triangle over it. Error code 10 is stated. I'm assuming this is an issue with my drivers. I have updated them, both automatically via search, and manual via Samsungs Webpage. Still issue is unresolved. I tried to connect Gnex to another PC and it works fine. So this is an issue with my PC. Are there any settings I should enable or disable in my PC for me to successfully connect Gnex ?
EDIT : After uninstalling drivers and reconnecting the Gnex, the device appears under "My Computer", but only temporarily until drivers finish installing. Once installed, the device disappears and error code 10 re-appears.
Thanks for any help in advance.
Hey XDA,
All of a sudden I'm unable to transfer any files over from my PC to my GS3. When I try to move files to flash into my GS3 I get the error message:
Cannot Copy Item. The device has stopped responding or has been disconnected.
Any ideas? I've uninstalled my samsung USB drivers and updated it. No dice. Tried both PTP and MTP as well and still nothings working.
Thanks!
Try a different usb port and/or cable. I know if I use my old usb hub sometimes I have problems like that.
My computer has issues working with either MTP or PTP so I started using Android Commander (pc app) to transfer files and have not had any issues since.

I've tried searching for solutions to this problem, but to no avail. I've been testing new roms for a day or so and recently, when accessing my GN through MTP, I receive an error when trying to drag a rom file onto the phone. It says "Cannot copy item. The device has either stopped responding or been disconnected." I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers, rebooting both computer and the phone, and using various USB ports and I'm still getting this error. What's odd is that I can drag and drop music files and even other roms, just not this particular one... I know it's not a big deal as I can just download it on the phone but I would appreciate some insight. Thanks!
do you have the same issue using the PTP interface?
It may be a cable issue or the phone connector
The problem I'm facing is this: out of the blue, my device has stopped recognizing the USB OTG, even though it is detected!
So, the N7 is rooted and I'm using stickmount, which detects the usb as normal when it is plugged in, assigns it a name and everything, but when you open the folder in ES explorer (or any similar app) it is empty!
It is not ROM related, because not only have a tried a few different ROMs, but it is also not recognized at all by TWRP.
Also, keep in mind that: a) it used to work perfectly well, and b) it works fine on my N5!
Any ideas? I've searched high and low for a solution to this, but have so far been unable to find anything, so any ideas or input would be vastly appreciated!

Hi All,
I have been unable to get my oppo n1 (CM edition) to connect to my home PC (win8 x64). This is annoying as my work PC (also win8 x64) detected and interacts fine with the MTP end point on the phone when connected via USB cable.
Could someone take a look at their drivers when their phone is connected and if possible zip them up for me? i would grab the ones from my work place but it just when friday afternoon and i cant believe this is such a hassle for me.
for the record, my home system currently detects the oppo as USB\VID_22D9&PID_2764\58E10EA
all the other drivers i have found are either for the ADB end point or some other PID.
no, secure boot is too much hassle as wrangling inf files can wait till monday i guess.
TIA to anyone that responds.
ms_comp_mtp
welp i think i have traced this down to a strange fault in just my own PC.
tested my oppo on a win7-x64 machine - installs fine.
I am comparing the setupapi logs to see any divergences and have found one.
my win8 box windows is not "seeing" the usb\ms_comp_mtp "compatible ID" (this is the magic that allows one driver to match many different VID/PIDs, thus a generic MTP driver should work for anything that advertises it self as MTP).
Now for the hard question of why that isnt being sent/seen by my box...
also to add to the mystery - PTP mode works fine, just MTP gives me grief.
While my own journey is far from over, ive learnt the C:\windows\inf\setupapi.dev.log file is quite useful for assisting in figuring out what isnt working when it comes to device driver installations.
I am happy to have a mod close this off, given this problem appears isolated to just my machine.
