Ive been eyeing that mini one for a while now. I think TV out + emulators would prove to be pretty awesome. The only thing thats keeping me from getting it is that I havent seen any evidence of being able to map hardware keys (menu, home, back, search, or trackball/arrow) to it.
EDIT: Actually we are probably going to have to wait until Froyo is released before something like this will work. JI6 doesnt support Bluetooth HID's, so bluetooth keyboards and Wiimotes are no go. Though snooping around on youtube, this thing has more potential than I thought. The most in-depth video showed a guy using the special function keys (volume up, down, mute, media keys and the like) they all worked as expected, so Im hoping the same experience can be achieved on android. If not, Ill probably end up getting it for my HTPC anyways.

And full support for hardware buttons. You can even designate a camera button!
EDIT: Right now that app is sitting at two stars in the market, mainly because it isnt working on Evo's or Galaxy S phones... Oh well...
I definitely wouldn't want to "carry this around," but it would be amazing for emulators and other games.

This guy has his attached to his HD2. Also, the Vibrant is just about the same size as the HD2, so this makes for a good size comparison. I kinda wouldnt mind having that hinge thingy, and long as I could add it to my black gel case, and have it fold back instead of over the screen.

Once this 2.2 that our developers are getting tonight is in our hands then all of these things will work.

My opinion? If you want a physical keyboard, sell your Vibrant and get a G2.
Why? With the 2.2 update they should work... I'm just not at home so I can't test atm.

Wasn't the wiimote not working because we have bluetooth 3.0. So what does froyo have to do with it?

I believe the problem before was that it didn't have the Bluetooth HID drivers. I think those are supposed to have been added in.
Well weve got perfectly working Froyo roms now. Anyone here have a Wiimote they could try pairing?
I am running bionix_obsidian v2 froyo build. I also have a wii remote and can confirm it does not work!!. it will reconise the wii and will try to pair but asks for a pin. to my understanding the wii remote does not use a typical pin to pair.

Have you tried 0000 or 1234? Those seem to be common ones that work on most things like that.

yes I did to no avail. people that are using it for pc games can get around the pin but not on android.

I'm currently using this one, and works fine with bionix Obsidian
When pairing, Vibrant asks to input one time PIN from keyboard. I just typed what it said then all fine.
Awesome!
Would you mind testing out some of the function keys, like volume and media buttons?
And also any way to use Menu Home Back and Search with this?
Connectivity demo video [UDPATE: new vid, NOVA 3+PS3 controller+HDTV+"how to" guide]
Basically rather large medley showing many of the connection options available for the Galaxy S3, make sure to use the nav links in the video description to get around the vid:
Note: Since the video I also got NOVA 3 on my S3 and playing it via MHL on my HDTV with a PS3 controller over bluetooth (every bit as freaking sweet as it sounds). Anyone want a guide?
[UPDATE] Demo and guide for playing NOVA 3 wirelessly via a PS3 controller, much better experience (especially on an HDTV and with a home theatre system connected!). Until you've made videos where you control the game by viewing it through the viewfinder in your camera please refrain from being too critical about how badly I suck
Ya sure a guide would b much appreciated

Yep, it's the one that is specific to the S3 (11 pin set-up, rather than 5 like the older ones - I have two of those so I'm annoyed about the change too).

Do you know if you can use a 2.4ghz wireless air fly mouse/keyboard combo while the phone is hooked up to HDTV through mhl? If so, what would I need besides the mhl adapter? USB hub?

Excellent video mate, is the S3 your main phone these days? I'm sure I remember you doing a similar review on the Galaxy Note, that's what I have although I did get an S3 for the missus and it is tempting, but I'm holding out for the Note 2.
By the way, can you point me in the direction of a relatively cheap bluetooth keyboard and mouse that will work with my Note, but a set that doesn't come with a usb dongle since I want to use the micro usb port on the phone to connect it via MHL to my TV. If that makes sense.

Understand what you're saying about the keyboard thing and MHL, will take a look and find some suitable ones for you.
Wow, now that is impressive. I can't believe how much you can do with the S3, simply amazing. The S3 kicks all other "smart" phones back to the dark ages . Another vote for a numptys guide please, first time smart/droid phone user here. Or I will be if my phone ever turns up

Awesome. $10 sure beats $40 for the official adapter. Just need some compatibility confirmation reviews before pulling the trigger.
Is there anyone out there with a USB DAC who can verify the S3 can actually output digital audio via USB?
This is a long time wish for audiophiles, who will all be getting an S3 if this functionality works.

Thanks. Now, notice how that S3 goes into the Tablet UI? With no modifications to the firmware. We need to find out how to enable that independently of docking.

I would assume its because its displaying on the laptop dock which has a larger screen and smaller DPI. You can force your S3 into the tablet UI by simply lowering your pixel density, but then everything is so small.

Yeah, but I mean w/o manually editing the DPI. Like a toggle or something built in to ROMs. Would be kinda cool, at least IMO. Especially if someone already has an MHL adapter and plugs it up to their HD TV.

I've been waiting for something like this since I bought my iPod Touch 2g back in 2008. The Atrix would have been nice, but laptop dock was ridiculously overpriced, and only available on AT&T.
Has anyone been able successfully find anything else on these? I have been searching high and low and have yet to find it.

What i would want to see from a device like this is an integrated dock for the phone. Let's say I'm on a plane or a train, i dont want cables between two devices, i would want my phone to clip into the netbook somehow. Maybe on the back of the screen? Or even better, screen up, in next to the trackpad flush with the keyboard, with the Capability to use it as an auxiliary screen. Or why not use the phone itself AS the trackpad?
Even still, as it is now, I'd buy it.

Couple of ROM's in the development section with multitasking already working, it's very handy!
Coldfustion has quite a few great videos on his YouTube channel. One of which is a how to on how to set up your note the way he has it set up. It's more of a how to for go launcher than anything. But it's very helpful. His review of the new Apple iPod was even entertaining, as he references is no note 2. LoL!

Yeah, I have my note 2 setup like his and people are blown away on how I did it. I am using most of his wallpapers so the phone's background never is the same. He is pretty artistic in the way he has everything setup.
That's awesome! Maybe I'm missing something, but from what I see, everything he's using is native, there's no special software except that floating browser software. Then obviously the hardware (adapter, mouse, keyboard).
Does anybody know what UI he's got?

No, both apple lol. I am guessing he might be using blue tooth for one and usb for the other.
Both bluetooth. I used to use em with my iPad (which I sold to buy a non contract note 2). The apple magic mouse, however, only can use its nice touch features while connected to a mac so its really just a simple, thin mouse. The logitech version of the keyboard has a nice case that it comes with, might be a good alternative.

It might be confusing in the beginning but as you watch the video, pause it and do each step as he tells you. The end result will be so worth it.
Great video, as soon as that dock releases, I plan to do something like this.
Nice video. It would be great to see how well Ubuntu (or some other favorite linux distribution) does. This would give you many other office and math applications to use. Anyone try linux on android yet? Downside would be that it has no audio. But performance should be very good.
Amazing stuff. While I'd have to wait for a dock myself, the USB-to-go cable looks like a wonderful alternative. Now, if I can find a reasonably priced portable monitor, I could truly go mobile - no need to worry about lugging around a laptop.
I wonder where he got the tripod or phone holder for the Note 2. . .
Yeah, can't wait to play all my games on the big screen, Arcane Legends, NFS MW, Shadow Gun Dead Zone !!

After seeing this I decided to give it a go. Sadly I don't have a mouse or the MHL connector yet, but it seems to work, at least for productivity. Got ubuntu 12 running with minimal effort, working on debian right now to see which I prefer. It seems pretty hard to use without a mouse, and I am lazy so instead of searching my house for a spare mouse, because I am unwilling to unplug the mouse from my desktop, I instead ordered a cheap bluetooth mouse. When I have everything I will probably make a video for myself.
I am on my 2nd note 8 5110 wifi and have a question about the range for the remote funtions. If I am more than about 6 ft away nothing works. I had this issue. When you set up the device remember which one you said yes to when it asks if it worked and this time say no so it goes on to the next code in the list. Eventually you'll find the right one that does all the functions.
btw I also get about 8 ft from mine, but it needs to be flat and pointed right at the device. Kinda useless compared to good universal remote.
mine work around 5m only... so kind of useless
