I am and it is working beautifully You need to setup the APNs manually but other than that, just threw in the SIM card and it started working.

Rooted stock. I recommend rooting just to disable "fast dormancy" as Wind Mobile does not support it:

There are no ROMs out there that makes me want to unlock my bootloader just yet. Right now with the stock firmware, I am super happy. I came from a Nexus 4 that was on Nexus 5 Experience - CM11 ROM.

Yeah dev section is slow, i'm considering cooking up a rom. i already have my base. and some mods done, modding xml on android 4.3 is a pain. so until i can edit the colors in the xml's i'm not going to share.

I don't travel much out of the city so for my use, it is perfect. I love the plans and for what they cost, I save a ton per month. There are some places that the signal isn't the best and compared to the bigger guys, you are not getting signal in the deep woods or country but I'd rather have infinite data, talk, and data for less.
I used to be on Bell and I loved the signal strength but for $65/month with 500mb of data and "unlimited text" (which for me was just 2500 texts incoming and outgoing), I got fed up. Wind is great for what I need and I would never go back to the "big three" ever.

I can't put a link because I'm new. Delete the space inside it - ebay.ca/itm/Sony-XPERIA-Z1-Compact- [HERE] D5503-Black-QuadCore-2GBRAM-20-7MP-Android-Phone-By-FedEx-/331132834464?pt=Cell_Phones&hash=item4d190e12a0
I would appreciate if you could double check it, thanks. Quite strange that such a great phone with powerful processor and a lot of ram doesn't sell in Canada (at least in Edmonton). Looks like its the same model you are using.
BTW, what do you think about the upcoming update of this phone; will it be worth $700? I don't think the price for z1 would be lower than on this link when it's released.
P.S. And what are those APN's and how to setup them?

Looks to be the same. You can wait if you'd like but honestly, you probably won't see a big difference. We have reached a plateau in speed right now and you can't go wrong with this phone. It is the best phone I've owned. I used my girlfriends LG G2 for a bit when I was waiting for the Z1c and I like it but the Z1c is better IMO.

Thank you for your advice, I don't know what you didn't like about the G2, but I would definitely not like its size. I was deciding between LG G3 mini, s5 mini or HTC m8 mini (none is out yet), but comparing their older brothers to Z1c, I think they will become outdated even before they are officially out. What about the Z2c, you are probably right. I compared the official release dates of Z1, Z1c and Z2, their specs and what Sony's traditions are and now suggest that on June 29 they will be close to a release of Z2c with Snapdragon 801-ac, 3 Gb of ram and that's it about major updates. I don't think that it's worth the extra $200. I would love if their electronic noise cancelling is something we can later get onto the Z1c, because I think that the 800 processor for sure can handle this feature, and many others.
One last question. Can i see this phone somewhere in Edmonton? Or the only way to buy it is online?

Was just the size and UI on the G2. I found that the Z1c out of the box felt faster and smoother.
For seeing this phone, I don't know of anyone else that actually has it in stock. I haven't seen any retailers around when I was looking for it myself.

I can also confirm that the Z1 compact works with Wind. Just needed to manually set up the APN to get data. Wind customer service walked me through it.
And to get the mms/internet working properly I followed this guy's instructions.
"I am now able to access the internet and send mms without any problems- here is the setting i used for my sony z - let me know if it works for you"
Sony z
internet
Name: WIND CA
APN: internet.windmobile.ca
MCC: 302
MNC: 490
APN type: default, supl (it is important you change your apn type here)
mms
Name: WIND CA mms
APN: mms.windmobile.ca
MMSC: http:-//mms.windmobile.-ca (with out the hyphen, website wont let me post url's)
MMS proxy: 74.115.197.70
MMS port: 8080
MCC: 302
MNC: 490
APN type: mms
Note: assuming you followed the settings on the wind website for androids - all you have to do is go into your internet setting and change the apn type to: default, supl

I've been using mine on Rogers, appears to work with Telus and Bell 3g/LTE as they appear from carrier select.
Please all remember you have to enter APN settings manually sometimes.
Rogers Lte APN is:
APN:
ltemobile.apn
Mmsc: http://mms.gprs.rogers.com
Mms proxy: 10.128.1.69
Mms port: 80
APN Protocol: IPV4/IPV6 or just IPV4 if dual not available.
*there has been a delay of receiving mms type messages I've noticed, perhaps could be tweaked.
My compact did come from eBay stateside, looks looked may have originated elsewhere, Taiwan stickers I think. Model D5503 however.

[Q] Question About HTC Desire Z

Hello all! I'm new here, so I guess I am what you would call an XDA Noobie or is it Newbie? haha
I've got a question about the HTC Desire Z and before anyone bashes on me, understand that I have done ALOT of searching through the forum and threads here (which have helped some) but I still feel I need to ask my particular questions... any help, info or tips would be GREATLY appreciated.
I'm buying an HTC Desire Z and I want to know if unlocked, will it be able to work on an AT&T Pay As You GO account or sim?
Does it matter if the phone is branded or not?
Should I buy an AT&T HTC DZ and unlock it myself?
Ultimately, what would be the best phone and route to take?
I currently have (and have had for a few years now) a T-Mobile SideKick unlocked using AT&T Pay As You GO. Ive never added a data package to my PAYG sim but what I have always found or been told is that you cannot use the internet or MMS on it anyway whether it's unlocked or not...
I guess the underlying reason why I am asking this question is because of the recently enforced policy that all smartphones now require a contract and data package...
I really would like this phone but I don't want to be tied to a contract or an outrageous data package... I figure since the HTC has wifi I won't always need a data package, right?
Anyway, sorry for the long post, I am just trying to get some help or answers from any one who has more experience with all of this... I hope to become a more knowledgeable. Thank You!
David

Yea, I just seen that and I was trying to figure out how to delete this post and move it to the Desire Z section but I guess I can't... Sorry guys... I looked through here so many time and never saw the Desire Z Section... :/
Just report this to mods they will move it
Edit: been reported to move to Desire Z forum

You can unlock it (including SIM unlock), so it will work on any network, using the guide in the XDA Wiki for the Vision (Vision is the HTC codename for the G2 and Desire Z, which are basically the same phone except for radio bands).
Doesn't matter what branding is on your phone, but do make sure you get one with the correct radio bands for AT&T, because that's one thing that's set in hardware and can't be changed.

There is no such thing. AT&T never offered the phone or anything close to it.
Branding does matter, as AT&T can generally only read the IMEI number of your device if its an AT&T branded phone. If they don't have the IMEI in their database, they can't tell its a smartphone. So you should be able to avoid the contract and data plan requirement if you buy a phone that is not AT&T branded. I've read of plenty of folks on here an dother forums that have used this tactic. Not sure if it works on the Pay-To-Go option. But I've read about plenty of AT&T customers that are on contract, but use a non-AT&T phone so they don't need to get a data plan, or to use the (cheaper) non-smartphone data plan. I've also read of some cases where they read the IMEI number incorrectly for a non-AT&T phone. One guy was using a Nexus One, and it was being read by AT&T as a Blackberry. They tried to add a data plan to his account, but he called them and told them it was just a dumb phone. They couldn't prove otherwise, so they removed the data plan.
The branding/version also matters if you want 3G data . The Canada Bell version is the only DZ that has the correct 3G bands to work on AT&T's network (UMTS 850/1900 MHz).
But since it doesn't sound like you want data anyway, you only need a phone that has AT&T's 2G/EDGE bands (GSM bands). AT&T uses the GSM 850/1900 MHz bands, and I believe every version of the G2/Desire Z is compatible with these GSM bands. As long as you get a phone with these GSM bands, and its SIM unlocked, it should work on AT&T.
If the phone is purchased SIM locked, you can get SIM unlocked either by following the Wiki guide (below), or use a pay service (usually than $10) available on places like eBay.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=HTC_Vision#Rooting_the_Vision_.28G2.2FDZ.29_and_DHD
Another benefit of rooting the phone (aside from getting SIM unlock for free) is the ability to put any ROM or firmware on the phone you like. Aside from the radios (band compatibility) the hardware is essentially identical on the various DZ versions. So you can flash a new ROM to get whatever Android versions you like, remove branding, etc.
@ stewiewevie and redpoint73 - wow, THANK you guys!! Much help!
The one I am getting is from a guy from Canada... he has had it for about 6 to 8 months... its in GREAT condition and it is unbranded and unlocked and is originally from Bell Mobility...
Only thing is, he does not know if it is the A7275 or A7272... Is there any way to tell??
Going off of what redpoint said and what I have read on here... (and correct me if I'm wrong) if it is from Bell than it would have to be the A7275, correct? because what Ive read on here is that the 7275 is the only one that will work on At&t 3G...
He says the phones OS is upgraded to Android version 2.3.7 (Cyanogen Mod 7.1.0)
Would this be a good decision, or would it be like buying an outdated phone? (or is that where the root comes in like redpoint mentioned?)
Thanks again guys!
If it was from Bell, then yes its the A7275. That model number is the Bell version by definition, and the one that has the UMTS/HSPA 850/1900 MHz compatibility.
Whether its a good buy or not depends on what you want out of a phone, and how much the seller is offering it for. The Z is getting a little old hardware spec wise, with a single core 800 MHz CPU and only 512 Mb memory. Current phones have a Gig of memory, and dual core CPUs teasing close to 1.5 GHz. On the other hand, there really is not a better Android phone with a keyboard around, and nothing announced anytime soon. The Z has a healthy developer community here, so that guarantees a variety of ROMs, including ICS.
Unless you are getting a pretty good deal, or really need a phone with a keyboard, my personal opinion would be to buy something more current. I've been obsessing about upgrading myself. Just haven't find just the right phone. If/when AT&T picks up the Galaxy Nexus, or an HTC phone that looks and feels better than the Vivid, I'll probably be all over it.
I see...
Well to be honest, Ive never owned anything android and Ive always like the HTC phones... (never had one) and that was the one thing I liked about this particular phone was that it had a physical qwerty. I'm new to all this phone tech with the hardware and software and ROM's so I think it would be a good "starter phone" for me BUT, by the same token I don't want to pay an arm and a leg for something outdated...
I know even now a lot of the Desire Z's that I could find on the net are going for upwards of 300 to even 500... esp unlocked... although there are some advertised on eBay for 240 but the seller is from Honk Kong and I'm pretty leery about all that...
In your opinion what would be a good price or offer to pay?
I thought about offering the guy 250 for it but I don't know...
haha I swear Ive spent the past week researching phones and figuring all this out and narrowing it down and figuring out what will work and what I want and how much I want to pay for it... and I still don't have a phone lol

I have had just about 12 Android phones in the past 3 years (I get access to whatever I want at work). The desire z was probably my favorite device. It has the best mix of features for me...but I love hardware keyboards.
It is getting older, but mine easily overclocks to more than 1.2GHz and there are many roms to choose from.just learn about flashing. You can't really go wrong if you are not willing to pay more for newer or get a contract.

Follow UP
Guys, thank you for all your help! I FINALLY got my HTC Desire Z! So far I love it... only one problem haha... I inserted my ATT Sim and for some reason it wont connect to the network...
The phone is supposed to be Sim Unlocked and originally from Bell Mobility... I thought I could simply insert my ATT Sim and be on the go but apparently not...
Are there any settings I need to configure to get it to work??
Any info or help on this would, again, be greatly appreciated...
You need to manually enter the APN (or network) info. Since its Bell branded, it only has the Bell network info built-in.
Go to Settings>Wireless & networks>Mobile networks>Access Point Names
Then create a new APN and enter the following info:
Name: AT&T
APN: wap.cingular
Proxy: leave blank
Port: leave blank
Username:[email protected]
Password:CINGULAR1
Server: leave blank
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS Proxy: wireless.cingular.com
MMS Port: 80
MCC:310
MNC:410
APN Type: leave blank
It did not work
Those APN settings are exactly what Ive been looking for because I thought maybe that had something to do with it...
Most of the APN settings were already in the phone the only thing I had to add was the password... I did that with no luck... so then I deleted the APN settings all together and entered in all new settings with the ones you gave me... still no luck...
When I plug my friends SIM into the phone it works and connects to the network which is ATT but she has a data plan tied to the SIM so maybe that is what it is but I thought that you did not need a data plan...
When I do a network search it finds ATT but when I choose to connect to it it says "cannot/unable to connect to the network at this time"
I'm stooped...?
I think the phone has been flashed or rooted... it has CyanogenMod on it, and an option to Flash ClockworkMod Recovery on it and a SuperUser utility... does that have anything to do with it??
The Sim I have is an ATT Go phone sim... does that have anything to do with it... my friends Sim that worked in the phone was on an ATT contract...
SUCCESS!!!
Well, I called ATT and told them I had a temporary HTC device I wanted to put my Go Phone Sim into because my old phone broke and one thing led to another and I ended up having to go to the ATT store and have them hook me up with a new Sim Card and SHABAMM! Everything works... and I'm still on my GoPhone plan without data...
The ATT Reps had their hands all over my device haha and they were all totally cool with it being unlocked, flashed and rooted! However they said there was no way to get data onto it without getting the $25 data package... psshhh... lol
Anyway, THANK YOU everyone for your help and info!

Umm, yeah . . . it would have been helpful if you mentioned that. So you didn't have any service at all (voice, SMS) on the old SIM? The typical issue with post-paid accounts is that voice works, but data doesn't, and that's where the APN comes in.

RMA UK device, came back with US Motherboard, AT&T locked Internet.

I RMA-ed my HTC Titan X310e from UK because of the GPS Problem in tracking me down .
HTC sent it back with a US Motherboard of the Titan P series, which is from AT&T.
I have a goPhone service before and the UK Titan acquired great 3G for me, but now , i have the 4G icon popup, but i can;t access internet. I can call, text a message and receive them without any trouble.
I thought that even GoPhone services doesn't provide 4G Speed, at least they will still let me connect to the 3G network? Because i can't surf web at all.

I tried. No luck.
But guess what, i swap the IPhone 4S Simcard from my Brother. I was able to get online on that sim.
So look like AT&T locked my simcard? Can they do that? because my simcard is a goldphone one.
A gophone sim will work in any att phone and an att sim will work in any gophone or that's how it is supposed be. If it's not working for you even after using the network tool I would stop in an att store (a corporate owned one) and talk to someone about it. BTW that 4G is still really 3G it's just how att shows HSPA+.

The moment you walk into a corporate owned AT&T store and ask them to fix your phone because you wanted unlimited Internet again on your smartphone, they'll more than likely say its not possible.
The data plans on GoPhone pre-paid accounts were never meant for smartphones, as prepaid smartphones have their own capped data packages you can purchase.
So if you really find someone very nice or helpful (and that is a big if), then great. But more than likely, they will turn you away and tell you that you can only use regular data packages on your smartphone device with a prepaid account.

I think you need to get onto HTC and ream them for sending you back a different phone that what you purchased. You purchased a UK phone, did you not? They sent it back to you with AT&T parts. This is not ok, as far as I'm concerned... if the substitution was not approved by you. It's up to HTC to make your smartphone 'right' again.

Here you can see the front of my Titan now
Clear, no AT&T mark.
But on the back, the model is from AT&T.
As far as i know, they said they replaced the MB and that is all they did, so, the screeen, camera... and something else that i don't know is still from UK.
As far as you guys tell me, i will have to find another temp replacement since this could happen regularly and i need my phone for my stuffs.
PS: I plugged the old GoPhone simcard in to a GSM Phone and i still have EDGE Signal and can surf web on it...

I'd be losses if I bought an I branded phone, sent it in for repair, and received branded parts back.

If i say i want an unbranded one, i bet they will say that there is not much difference between 2 version, and they can get me an Sim-Unlock Code...
But i just still wondering why i have 3g/4G access on the Contract-based Sim , but not GoPhone.

Probably because if its got an AT&T/US IMEI, then AT&T is well aware that you are using a smartphone and they can actively block you from taking advantage of smartphone internet without the appropriate data package.
See before, you had an unknown IMEI from out of the country, so AT&T can't make heads or tails of it, and therefore they don't do anything about it when you use it on a plan you aren't supposed to be using it for. But now that they know you are using a smartphone, they say no data plan for you.

When you imported your Titan from the UK, AT&T had no way of knowing it was a smartphone. Therefore, you get to bypass any of their 'requirements'.
For example. I have a $20/mth unlimited GPRS Media Max plan. I get unlimited GPRS (from my feature phone) and 200 sms. Tethering is 'not allowed'. Now, I only use imported phones. I'm able to tether at HSPA speeds and my Lumia 800 from the UK is unrecognizable. Last year, I once put my SIM into an AT&T HTC HD7S and they immediately (and w/o my permission) forced me off my plan. A nasty little call to them and a ticket that took 5 days to resolve got me back on my old data plan.
Long story short. If the imei of your device is not recognized by AT&T as a smartphone, then you're victim to all of their limitations.

If i have to go with contract based... either the way is hurt, because their cheapest plan for an individual is like $69 for calling and data (they just require data for the contract, but we also need calling...)...
So basically, i don't really see the difference between branded and unbranded device if i use the contract-based sim (at least for me - who text and use data alot ) because there isn't much options,
Here is the Update:
I tried the iPhone Microsim in the slot for Titan, little weird, but it works.
The reason that i RMA-ed the phone was about my GPS when it fu(ked up. At least i know it is fixed (somehow) when it was able to acquire the position of mine, little bit slow, but i think that because i am staying inside the house and my location doesn't have great Signal for AT&T tho... ( i usually have 1-3 bar of AT&T inside.) But whatever, it was able to track down where i am and hold it for over 3-4 mins.
I also tried surfing web without Wifi:
So... I think i am going to AT&T store tomorrow. Sign up for a god damn contract...

[Solved] Bought Captivate Glide, But Data Isn't Working

I just bought a Samsung Captivate Glide from Ebay. Took my AT&T SIM card out of my Rhodium and put it into the SCG, but the data isn't working (just able to make calls).
My Rhodium's SIM is blue and has '3G' printed on it. As the SCG is a 4G device, can it simply be that my SIM needs to be upgraded to a 4G card (is there a difference)? Or can I assume that there is something either wrong with my data connection settings or with the phone itself? Results of my searches keep bringing up a mixed bag of device reviews, how to buy the device or a SIM, etc., so I'm hoping that someone here has some knowledge of this.
Most of the ROMs that I've used for my Rhodium have used carrier provisioning cabs in their ROMs, so I do not know what those settings are to check to see if they are correct in the SCG. I was told that the SCG is NOT unlocked, but that doesn't mean that my settings couldn't use a little tweaking.
Also, in case it matters, I am using the old unlimited $15 'dumb' phone internet for my Rhodium. Could this really be the culprit? Will I have to change my Internet service to the much more expensive 'smart' phone plans in order to use data on my SCG?
If I come across my answer in further searching, I'll update this post to benefit others.
Thanks, everyone!
Debbie
You'll need to either call AT&T support or visit a store. They will need to make some modifications to your account in order for your 3G SIM card to work with AT&T's HSPA+ "4G" frequency. I had the same issue when I got my SCG. I was using an HTC Status, and when I switched the SIM card into the new phone, I was able to only make and receive phone calls. I went to the store and explained the situation, and the guy fixed it for me in 2 minutes.
I originally thought when I first read your post that you were on the unlimited data plan ($30/month), but I see you're on the $15 "dumb" plan. As a result, you'll most likely need to update your data plan to one of their offerings in order to get 4G network connectivity.
as far as the sim card i have no idea but if ur old phone wasnt a "smartphone" then yes u wil prolly have to upgrade to a high data package is why ur data is not working. they have that added internet crap becuz its a 4G even though half their customers dont have it
Thanks for your responses. I suspected that it may be a SIM card version/set-up issue.
My current phone (HTC Tilt 2, aka Rhodium) is 3G, which runs Windows Mobile 6.X, but the "dumb phone" Internet plan works. It's been working beautifully for a few years now and I am not about to tip off AT&T to my 'smart phone usage' on a 'dumb phone plan' by complaining that I don't have Internet access on the SCG, so I guess that I'll be restarting my device research again (this sucks! ) and seeking out a 3G Android GSM carrier unlocked phone with a keyboard (MUST!) as my next phone. Jeez, what a waste of time and money.
Well... I guess I got a used, mint condition Samsung Captivate Glide (with extra accessories) to put up for sale then. I am *SO* not willing to double or triple my current cellular costs just to use a 'kind of' 4G phone here in NYC. I have a used LG Quantum (Windows Phone, which I don't think is 4G) that my SIM does work in, but I will probably need to get rid of that, too, if Microsoft doesn't bring USB syncing back in their major upcoming Apollo release (can't sync OTA from work).
ARGH... But your responses are indeed much appreciated.
Debbie
To be honest, I'm surprised that AT&T hasn't caught onto the fact that you're using a "dumb" plan with your existing smartphone. It's possible that your older WinMo device isn't registering with AT&T as being a smartphone that requires a data plan for whatever reason, or that you're using an incredibly low amount of data per month that they are simply not bothering to detect your usage.
I can almost guarantee you that, whether you decide to stay with the SCG or try to get another newer unlocked 3G GSM Android phone with keyboard (like the Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro, for example), AT&T will eventually realize that you're using a smartphone and will upgrade you to one of their data plans. They are now using deep packet analysis to better gauge the use on their network. Modern Android phones, by their very nature, transmit and send much more data than older devices (e.g., background syncing, advertisements in apps, etc.), so it's unlikely that you'll be able to stay under AT&T's radar for much longer.
I've been on dumbphone 3g for 3 years using non att smartphones. As long as you don't get an ATT branded device, and it has a usable frequency you are golden

I'm actually looking at an unlocked HTC Desire Z right now. Always loved HTC's hardware quality and I'm not that fussed about utilizing 4g anyway, so this is an acceptable upgrade for me (by my standards anyway). As the SCG is 4G, which all of the new phones seem to be, I can't use my MediaNet SIM on it anyway, hence the SCG not working out for me, so it's a moot point really.
I mainly just use my Rhodium's data for email, Facebook, and some web surfing. I've never downloaded music, videos, games, tethered, or synced OTA, so I guess my usage hasn't been flagged in their system. Been on this data service since I got my Kaiser about 4 years ago. I don't expect it to last forever, of course, but would like it to for as long as possible.
Thanks for the input, everyone. As always here, no matter how much reading I do on my own, I always manage to learn something new by participating with all of you.
Hey, anyone need a spare mint SCG? LOL!
Thanks again!

[Q] Expansys USA HTC One X Help

I need some help from the real experts. I think that I may have screwed myself here on my One X Purchase. I got it from expansys-usa.com. Hopefully this is just my ignorance but from what I have been told by HTC customer service is that I received a Malaysian version of the One X. And that It will not be compatible at all with any US carrier for Data.
Here is where my current situation.
Ordered the phone wednesday 4/18 from Expansys-Usa.com
Received today, 4/20
Took it in to my local T-Mobile and had my sim from my Nexus One Cut down.
I receive phone calls and texts just fine but no data connection at all will work.
I was at T-Mobile for 2 hours as they tried to manually enter all APN settings, as well as talk to HTC support, no luck. In the end I was told I had a Malaysian model and that was the issue. When you enter the APN settings and save them, all it says is no Sim card found, please enter one. But the messaging and calling is connected in the back ground..
I have not been deep into phone tech for the last year or two so I am rusty on everything. What do you guys think, is there anything I can try to do here or is my only option to return the phone if possible?
Why would Expansys send out a Malaysian model? When first booting my phone the only language options are Asian-English but with like 12 different version of all different Asian countries. I get no option for anything in Europe.
Thank you..

Sounds like a t-mobile issue.
I have the same model as you I believe (asian region model, got "English" at initial startup but with a lot of different asian countries). All I did was go to "APN" setting in mobile networks, click on "AT&T" and everything works fine for me.
So yes, the asian one works on USA networks, but yours sounds like a t-mobile issue. This is of course if you have the same model as me, which is sounds like you do.
You know even if you had a European model it would only get 2G on T-Mobile?

That might be OP's problem. T-mobile 2g is so slow it would almost seem like there is no data connection.
HTC One X does not support t-mobile 3g.
Thanks for the replies. Although, I do know that I only will receive 2G. I had planned on this. But the problem is I get no data at all.
It is good to hear that there is someone else with this version and its working on ATT at least.
If your account is not provisioned correctly for the APN settings you are trying to use the phone will refuse to connect at all. Have Tmo check the plan they have you on. I had a similar problem with AT&T.

I will keep this in mind, thanks for the comment. The one problem is, I cant save any APN settings on the phone, when i enter them, and save, it just says there is no sim card in the phone. So its not saving them or using them.
I found this thread which seems like my issue: Take a look.

Well a good update.
Like in the thread I linked, it was an issue with the T-Mobile sim cards. Only the old style works with this phone. At least for now, hopefully a software update will fix this. I went to another T Mobile store the guy there was really helpful and we tried a handful of simcards. Ended up with the conclusion that the 3G sim cards worked, old style. He had to grab one out of an old Sensation package he said. But the newer 3GG ones dont. I dont know of the real diff but I wanted to share how the outcome was. I am now happily on edge. Hopefully 3G soon!

I bought from expansys USA as well. No problems at all and received the Taiwan build. I know a few people were having problems with T-Mobile and data. The issue was solved by getting the older micro sim card that said 3g, not their new one that says 3gg.

EDGE/GRPS and "fast" shouldn't be used in the same sentence. EDGE is 2G, not 3G, and speeds are highly influenced by load on the network. 1MB down would be a stupendous result but in some markets is can be as low as 300KB. If it works for you; cool. But people shouldn't think that EDGE speeds are going to be a satisfactory alternative to HSPA/HSPA+. And speeds will vary widely across T-Mobile’s network.

[Q] AT&T users with F400S and LTE Data

Hi all, long time reader/lurker, but finally took the plunge on one of the Korean G3 phones and ran into this...
Quick question for the people who have the F400S on AT&T: Do you guys get LTE Data on your G3's? Mine just came today, and I get great service (surprised I got LTE, was originally just planning on 3G usage) but whenever I access any site that isn't att.com/esupport or att.com/biztech, I get the redirect in the image.
Message says: "We're sorry, but you are attempting this transaction during a restricted time period set by your wireless account owner."

I have no weird account restrictions, and I've got a support ticket in AT&T (should hear back by the 16th), but was hoping to get some advice if any other AT&T F400S G3 owners are getting similar messages.
I'll post back with what AT&T tells me on whats going on.
UPDATE (6/12/2014): I knew I needed to link my new IMEI to my old SIM card (from HTC One). Though I had done the update with AT&T last night, it appears that it took a solid 5-6 hours for that update to apply.
The issue I had run into where it would ask me to "sign in" to the AT&T network, but kept redirecting me has resolved itself.
So for potential Korean G3 buyers on AT&T here in the states, remember to call AT&T and have them update your SIM card info to match up to your new IMEI. I had to deal with 6 awful phone support people, but finally landed on someone who knew what she was talking about when I had a chat session with a technical support agent. (The phone people were ridiculous saying I needed to buy a new data plan, or buy a new phone... ugh ::facepalm:: lol).
But after a solid day of rest and the IMEI update, I cannot be any happier... definitely an investment, but considering I buy phones off-contract every few years, this was a very reasonable buy (got it for $720 on ebay with shipping included)--my guess is that the phones off-contract here will run round the 649-699 price... assuming they charge a premium on LG's new flagship.
But as a side note... This phone is awesome! The screen is one of those things you just gotta see. Resolving pixels is difficult to my eyes, and I haven't done a side-by-side with a 1080p phone yet.

But as a side note... This phone is awesome! The screen is one of those things you just gotta see. Resolving pixels is difficult to my eyes, and I haven't done a side-by-side with a 1080p phone yet.

Did you try a different browser? Also does it happen on all sites?
Hi again
Thank you so much for your questions/replies!
mrfriday2010- Yes, I have a 10GB Data/unlimited texts and minutes. LTE coverage where I am at was spotty (we got it on one of their later rollouts). I am guessing I am accessing the AWS bands that would have supported the AT&T/T-Mobile deal... but that fell through.
daraj- Also Yes, the issue occurred on the default browser and chrome.

I know you have a 400s, I have a 400L and a LG Gpro2 "S" both of them get LTE voice and Data, some things to think about
do you have correct LTE sim card?
I have had the same issue and I fix it by turning off wifi then back on and it fixes it
for whatever reason the phone seems to have issue going from wifi to data, my GS5 does the same thing

Everything is all good on my F400S now . After AT&T updated my IMEI to match the new device, all is up and running (and also after about 6 hours of letting that update take effect in their systems).
Just weird though, its the first time I have had to do that. Back before the days of LTE, I was able to access 3G from my SIM without having to update IMEI info.
Thanks for your input though .
Also something I noticed about my F400S -- I thought it was interesting that underneath the back cover, towards the top of the phone, it shows F400 S/L. The phone is the S version (SK Telecom), but I am assuming the L version seems to work alright on AT&T as well maybe?

mine does too inside at the top, it says S/L, my box says L and my phone - under phone info says L I have found out that L an S have the same bands. My L works fine on LTE for AT&T but I never called them or changed my IMEI number.

I did go contract-free recently... maybe AT&T doesn't like my money haha
Where are you guys purchasing you G3 from? Amazon or 28mobile?
I picked mine up on eBay. Got it in about a week from order date.
For those of you who got it working on AT&T: Did you just pop your SIM in and go, or did you have to manually create an APN?
I have an L model on the way and I was under the impression that I'd have to manually create an AT&T LTE APN in order for it to work properly. I'm currently on an LTE plan and using an LG G2. I swap sims all the time with no issue.

What model do you have? One of the reviewers were saying that worked for the S model, but not the L or K. That on the L and K model, you would have to create the APN manually.

I have the F400S and I had 0 issues getting it to work with ATT. My wife's ATT S5 had more issues and that's a carrier phone.

Ah, yeah. See, the bloggers were saying that the S works out of the box, but the L and K have to have APNs created manually before they will hit AT&T LTE. I guess I'll find out in a few days.

Best of luck, it shouldn't be that hard to set up if you need to do it manually.

Nah, I do it all the time. I was just curious if that was the experience other L/K users were having. It has been confirmed that all three models work on AT&T's LTE, so I'm not worried.
