Hi, I'm having issues with my brand new, just bought today Motorola S9HD bluetooth headphones. I am having three issues so far:
First Issue: The headphones seem to work with the Google Music player (stock, but newest version via market), but I cannot use seek controls, play/pause.
FIRST ISSUE SOLVED BY REMOVING WP7 MUSIC PLAYER AND ONLY HAVING STOCK ON THE DEVICE.
Second Issue: While I'm listening to music, I sometimes want to make a quick call. I assume with these I should be able to hit the call button, which goes to voice commands, then I say who I want to call, and boom, done. BUT! whenever the screen is off and I'm listening to music, then click the call button, it gives me three or so beeps but never quits playing music and never goes to voice commands. THE ANNOYING SOLUTION THAT I FOUND: When I turn on the screen, I am able to click the call button and go into voice commands, call whoever, etc.
SECOND ISSUE NOT SOLVED EVEN AFTER SWITCHING TO STOCK GOOGLE MUSIC PLAYER.
Third Issue: For some reason, I will get a random space (0.5 seconds to 1 second) randomly of no music, then it resumes. BUT sometimes it just all together stops playing music. I have left it for a couple minutes to see if it'll resume, but it doesn't. Then I look at the phone and it says it's still working, and the only way to make it play music through the headphones again is to restart bluetooth via the phone.
THIRD ISSUE POSSIBLY SOLVED BY USING STOCK GOOGLE MUSIC PLAYER INSTEAD OF WP7 MUSIC PLAYER. BUT SUGGESTIONS ARE STILL WELCOME.
Thanks for all your help!
2nd issue: did you tell it the first time what voice control you want to use? Like Vlingo, google voice, google search, etc.
3rd issue: no clue, mine does that too and it is annoying. I notice it gets worse if the battery is 2 or so hours without a charge.
Thanks for the reply. I'll try assigning the voice commands app.

muy issue with my Moto S(HD is that I continually have to re-pair every time I try to use them. anyone know why?
Regarding item #3, I think this is more related to the bluetooth stack on the Atrix crashing than it is related to the S9HDs. I don't have that problem with my S9HDs, but I routinely get it when paired to my car stereo. Probably happens once a week with my car stereo, whereas I've only seen it once in several months with my S9HDs. I'm hoping the bluetooth stack has been improved when we get gingerbread shortly.
I've a nokia BH503 BT headset ATM and never had those issues. It works with EVERY app on the phone, even the emulators, games and notifications sounds through the bluetooth headphones. I luv it.
Before my motorola atrix I used a Blackberry Storm + motorola S9HD BT headphones, and had exactly the same issues u report...
I have the S9HDs and I get pauses too. The thing that frustrates me is that it depends on where I have my phone. I have a jacket in wear when I bike ride that has a pocket on the inside. If I put the phone in there it constantly pauses. If I put my phone in my pants pocket it doesn't pause at all.
It seems like an easy solution, keep the phone in my pants pocket, but I wear workout type pants when riding and they are not deep pockets so I'm afraid the phone will fall out. It just doesn't make sense that the farther I put the phone from the headphones the better it works.

I use these, and play music with PlayerPro............have no issues. Don't call often with the headphones, but have not had problems with them there either.
I routinely have my phone in my pants pocket while I walk around the office listening to music, and never lose my connection.
Not much help I know, but there are I guess some of us who don't experience bluetooth issues.
I installed playerpro, and I'm liking it so far.

S9 HD's reception is really bad. And I tell you cuz I had those. I mean, u canĀ“t use the phone on your pants' pocket without lil skips... Nokias' reception rocks, and the battery last longer.
The problem with the s9 hd cutting out is reception. I have been using this headset for about 2 years while riding my motorcycle, with three different phones. They all had the same problem. With phone in my front pants pocket the problem persists. With phone in my shirt pocket, or in a backpack behind me, it never cuts out.

How do you resume play using the headset button instead of having to turn the screen on and tapping play? This is super annoying how I have to take my phone out of my pocket every time I want to resume.
It works if I pause, then play in a few seconds, but if I wait a few minutes, I have to turn the screen on....
Seems to work with me on stock 4.0.2 and the included Samsung headset. Today I stopped listening to music for over 2 hours, then just put the headphones in, hit the button, and it started playing.
I just timed it, I paused for 3:30 and tried to resume but it doesn't work unless I tap the scteen
I get that, too. I think it has to do when the phone goes into deep sleep. I don't remember if it happened in stock roms as well. I've been on custom 4.0.3 rom since practically the day I bought the phone.
You don't really have to tap on the screen to resume. Waking up the phone via the power button will make it respond to the headset button input. So instead of whipping out the phone every time, you can just reach into your pocket and press the power button then press the headset button. It's a poor workaround, though.

Still don't have to. It can be sitting on the table for 20min and I can put the headphones in and start music. And its not like I'm doing anything fancy. Set up Google Music normally and haven't messed with it. Just works.

Try this, pause the music, DO NOT unplug the headphones and let it sit around for 30 secs or so, then press the headset button to resume playback. If I unplug the headset while paused then plug it back in, headset button will work.
I has this happen.. I hit the button two times and it responded finally. I was using poweramp though.

1) headphones in
2) started song, turned off screen & listened for a couple minutes
3) pause with headphones
4) sit for ~3 min screen off
5) screen still off, headphones in, hit button
6) music starts playing instantly.

Well, it doesn't work for me. It might be a custom ROM or 4.0.3 thing.
I typically run into this when I use the bluetooth audio in my car. With my Nexus One running CM7 I was always able to just sit down, wait a couple seconds for bluetooth to connect, and hit play, all without having to take the phone out of my pocket.
With Galaxy Nexus running stock 4.0.2 the bluetooth still automatically connects when I turn the car on, but play/pause doesn't work until I open up Music and manually hit play. Will try just powering phone on briefly tomorrow.
For those who say they can't reproduce this: have you disconnected your phone from power? The phone doesn't appear to ever enter deep sleep while on a charger, so if it has something to do with deep sleep as someone suggested, that would prevent this.
Mine is not on power when this happens. I am away from my desk a lot at work and I pause/resume frequently to talk to coworkers. So this is very frustrating for me.

Mine works the same whether plugged in or not, I should add.
Same thing happens to mine. I have a single button inline mic on my headphones. One the Nexus One, I could hit the button at anytime to play and it worked just fine. Now I have to double tap the button to get it to work. And it's not completely reliable. I sometimes have to spam the button to get it to come alive.
This is odd because according to my battery usage, my phone hardly ever goes into deep sleep, yet the headphone controls have trouble waking the phone.
I've tried this with UberMusic and Google Music using my headphones and Bluetooth receiver in my car, where it struggles even more. It just doesn't readily respond to the button input. Basically the same problem as this guy: http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=24364
Anyone come up with a solution
hello.
I thought I had a hardware problem with my Galaxy S2 and posted a thread about it in the i9100 forum.
but some googling brought me to this page. I have the same problem, and seeing how you guys are on different hardware makes me suspect (hope for) a software solution.
any help would be greatfully accepted, this is really annoying.
a better work around for the moment is to install Jays Headset Control from the market, it's free. there is an option somewhere in there that 'beeps' whenever you press the button. so now when the phone is in my pocket i can press and hold until i hear the beep, which means i can then press again to continue playing.
hope that helps a bit.
currently running android 2.3.6
Nothing happens when I press the play/pause button, or the skip to next track, or the skip to previous track button. I tried this with Winamp playing in the foreground. I'm not sure if this is possible with Winamp. So I also tried it with MortPlayer Music which is what I have used previously and I know it supports this feature. But still nothing. Usually Mort will start playing as soon as I press the play button on the remote, even when it's not in the foreground or not even launched. But now... just silence.
I have SuperNova ROM with Data2SD and Android 2.3.3. I have S-OFF, root, and stock HBOOT.
Is there some service or process missing? Or not running in the background? What else could it be?
Just for clarification, the headset is working, I mean I can hear the music, it's just that there is no way to use the buttons to control it (except through the app).
Edit:
Also, is there something like a menu option or control panel, some means of controlling which app gets to use the headset buttons? Or a way of setting which app is the default music player? Or which one is the default browser for instance? Is this possible in Android? Some centralized place where you can set all of these things, a little bit like Windows style?
not tried it myself, but does this app work? it's a trial, so you can see if it works, and have to pay later. or might be other apps which are free and work, have a browse
(as an aside some roms allow long pressing of volume buttons to skip tracks, but i believe this has to be the stock music app, and probably has to be on the system partition)
Jack is the culprit!
I have found the culprit. It's my headset jack! You can check out the picture below.
I think some leads have broken inside the sleeve at the jack. That's why it bulges out like that, you can see that it's a little thick at that point. If I press and hold the cable at this point the remote control buttons work again, more or less, it glitches sometimes. If I let go it stops working, or it works sometimes if I move the cable around like when having the phone in a pocket.
For the record, this is the original HTC headset, I think it's RC-E160. The earbuds are still working though. So it's pretty much just a headphone right now. I haven't used it very much because, almost nothing at all, because of the poor sound quality. I started using it only like three months ago as as a temporary replacement when my Sony got broken. Now these are broken too. My Sony lasted much longer.
I still wonder how you can control which app gets priority and things like that, when you have like two or three different apps that respond to headset buttons. Is there no option in Android from where you can control this? Is your only option to uninstall the apps you don't want to be interfering? This doesn't seem well thought through.
Hi all.
I was wondering if you may be able to help with some advice regarding the G3.
Here's where I'm at.. I've been using a loan g3 for a week and I love it.. That screen just blows my mind. I've tried the Xperia Z2, the. htc M8.. Neither of them match or even come close.
What I am finding though is there is one issue that really irritates me. The lack of being able to call up the voice mate software using the headset. It is impossible. To give you an idea of where i was before.. I used an iPhone 5S and A Galaxy s5.. I used Siri all the time and find S Voice to be brilliant. I drive a lot and also walk around a lot listening to music and I hate walking worth my phone in my hands in London. Total muggers target.
With the S5, you just press the headset call button for a few seconds and it brings up S Voice which then allows me to play music without looking at the phone. I can't believe the same functionality has been left out of the g3. I've been through all the menus and tried saying the keywords to bring it up and it doesn't work. Am I totally missing something or has LG dropped the ball here?
The only thing I can find that is close is to press the unlock button while the phone is in my pocket to unlock the screen and then use the headset button which does bring up Voice mate. But it then doesn't do anything until I press the onscreen button to complete my command. If I press the headset button again, it doesn't do anything.
Similarly, the S5 features a car mode which just works. It audio connects to my Bluetooth stereo and then opens itself and plays tunes just by me saying Hi Galaxy. I can't seem to find anyway of achieving this with the g3. It's a big thing because having to unlock the phone then find the software key then swipe up to voice mate means I take my eyes off the road which really isn't ideal.
Can anybody help? It may sound like an insignificant thing but this is a big thing to me and means I'll have to plump for the s5 even though my heart tells me I really want the g3 more.
Oh and how do you guys find battery life? Is there a way of emulating the extreme power saving mode brought to us by the likes of the s5 and HTC One m8 rather than the pretty paltry built in battery save app?
Thanks in advance.

You have to activate voice recognition on the lockscreen within voice mate settings and the app starts listening with the "LG Mobile" or "Hello Genie" hotword (whatever you've set from these two).
My battery life is pretty solid, around a day and a half with moderate (web, streamed music, some casual games,...) and through the whole day with heavy (web, music, high demand games,...) use.
LG's implementation of this is horrible on all of their phones; I have been trying to get this to work on my LG flex for 6 months and it just wont..
I might be confused but can't you just press the dedicated button on your earphones to start playing music? Why do you need to go through Voice Mate? Also, Google Now now supports voice commands for music playback as well. I believe that can be activated by long pressing the headset button.
I wanted to use voice mate to make calls, but, its absolutely worthless on the LG flex; it never recognizes a word you say..
Hope its better for you folks on the G3

Hi Japultra,
This is the thing.
There are three buttons on the headset. The main one just stops and starts music. Long pressing it starts nothing. It just sits there. Long pressing the volume down button launches the camera, and the same with the up button launching the note taking software. These are no changeable.
They don't launch VoiceMate OR Google Now.
I like to talk to my phone and tell it to play particular songs, then to call someone, then maybe play a song by someone else. Rather than having to walk down the street with my phone in my hand like a mugger's target doing it all the old fashioned way.

Is there no way to set Google Now to be the default on the long press of the button? Also, which parts of London are you walking through that's so dangerous? I live here and have never had an issue with my phone.

Not that I can figure out - but if you know a way, please share.
I walk through a lot of London. Granted, mostly between Knightsbridge where I work and Surrey - but that's not the point.. It just takes once for a phone to be snatched out of a hand and I switch between songs that often, it's so easy with S-Voice or Siri to just hit the cable. I can't believe the G3 has left this out. Seems potty.

Yes, I have tried that. It makes no difference
Hello.
So I had a lot of experience with previous Zenfone devices but this seemed pretty awkward for me. I'll explain the issue and list all of the troubleshooting I've done so far.
Here's the problem, the headset button (I got those cords with volume and play/pause buttons). Seem to activate something else besides just pause or play music. When I press it, it pauses but at the same time audio quality changes to a "Phone line call" Quality... I have to press it a couple times more in order to rotate to the default audio quality... Sometimes it even changes the audio output, I've noticed that even with the headphones plugged in, it seems to change to speakers...
Observations/troubleshooting:
It looks like this problem happens only when the device is locked. The play/pause button behaves normally if the screen is on. During Asus cover screen does the problem too.
It definitely is not the music app (Tho I found weird that it didn't come with a built in music player, BTW Google play is more a store than a music player, so I don't use it... I've been using Black Player for a month now, it's s amazing). I tried messing with the Audio Wizard app, but no matter the settings or the mode I put it, it seems to not fix it.
I tried downloading the Headset Button Control app, it still seems to do something else besides what I assign the button to do...
This didn't happen with my zenfone 2 Z00AD... I love this phone but this issue is important for me because I live in a pretty dangerous country, so I use every tool I have in order to not show my phone outside...
Pls halp.
