Have you tried dialer press *#*#7378423#*#*
Service Tests -->GPS-->GPS Location Test
If you get readings on your location and time it took then your phone is fine.
Then check out settings-->Location services--> Enable GPS satellites.
Also check if you have "Stamina Mode" on which blocking GPS from Working.
Yes ive tried this.
Stamina and other energy saver off, gps from settings enabled and in Service test after 10minutes aborted by me.
Should i try a factory reset?
I ve unlocked my bl and rooted it with doomlords way / cwm kernel.

Okay, i think i've found the Problem.
With a factory reset, i get the fix in 0.5 minutes.
I deleted the bloatware and all the things i'm not needed by Titanium Backup(same on my other sony xperia phones).
I think i have to try each app once to freeze befor deleting.
Does someone know, which systemapp from factory depends on gps function?

em.... i don't know the fix then, it might be faulty on GPS.
Wonder if Factory Reset will "Relock BL" and lost Root. Hope someone will be able to guide you on that.

Hey all
I got a bit of a problem. I recently upgraded to 2.29 and rooted again. Now when i launch the settings app after reboot, it works.
But when i close it and try to open it again it just doesnt show and throws me back to my home screen.
Any ideas about what could be the problem?
Using DATA2SD btw, also killing Settings app has no effect + hot reboot has no effect. Only full reboot fixes it temporarly

I'm not familiar with this problem, but can you explain how you updated it? Have you done it correctly I mean.
it seems not to be a problem with the ROM, titanium backup is restoring an app or setting that seems to be causing it.
EDIT: Theft Aware was the problem
Anyone been able to get the gps for this app to work on a rooted SGS3? I have it in system apps but notta gps, still enables wifi only. Any help or workarounds? Thanks!
I'm not having any issues with it. Can you rephrase your issue, please? The web interface won't track the phone?
It will track the phone via web, but the gps will not track, all I get is a little split second icon like the gps wants to turn on, but wont, and wifi automatically takes over the phone internet connection. Im trting to get gps to work on this thing and its not.

Mind the fact im on the stock Rom rooted only, no custom recovery.

Does the app have su access? Have you enabled Device Administration within the app?
Delete thread, problem was solved through cerberus support. Was wondering why gps icon was disappearing suddenly. Once the app enables, gps goes to ghost mode.

After the recent update to Android 4.3, my Nexus 4 has been experiencing many irritating side effects. One of such bugs was loosing the phone signal every now and then. Sometimes the phone will come back online after few seconds. But more often than not, it wont come online and the phone remains without service untill I try to use the phone. In such a case, the only way to force signal search is by enabling Airplane Mode and then disabling it. Eventhough I have put the Airplane Mode Toggle in my PowerToggles home screen widget, enabling the Airplane Mode and then disabling it is a cumbersome thing to do. In order to simplify the process, I wrote a simple Tasker action and put that as a widget in homescreen. The action requires root access and Secure Settings Plugin (also the Helper) installed. Using the Tasker App Factory, I have converted the action to a standalone app and you can use it to refresh the signal manually on your Nexus 4 running Android 4.3. I have tested it on my phone and it worked without any issues. You can download the APK file from the link below.
PreRequisites for ths App to Work:
1. Root Access
2. Secure Settings Plugins and Secure Settings Helper must be installed

thanks for this. giving it a try now

I hope this thing work, i'm about to throw my nexus in the toilet :crying:
Installed.
I'll try tomorrow, and give a feedback...
Didn't work for me on
N4 4.3 JWR66Y
But plugging airplane mode on and off doesn't either.
The only way I can solve this it's turning off an on the phone..
Ohhhhh.. Mine is also the same build. But toggling Airplane made helps to refresh signal. No need to reboot the phone.. I saw another post to downgrade the system radio app to the one included in jb4.2 as the issue is only present in radio app included in 4.3. So if this is not working you may explore that option.

that seems to be the permenant solution until google updates the radio app to remove the bug. I had created an action to automatically toggle airplane mode if the phone remains without signal for a predetermined period of time. but that consumes a lot battery (especially if u are travelling). so don't use it now. If anyone want the action, i can post it here.

Yes! Secure Settings 1.3.3 from market, them downloaded Helper from the Secure Settings menu (rooted phone obviously).
Ohhhhh.. What's happening when u click on the icon?I cud test this only on my phone and it toggles the Airplane mode without any issue. Does it flash any messages when u click? Just want to know.

Two messages appear:
"Powering down Phone Radio".. ~3 seconds after: "Restarting Phone Radio".
But not toggle Airplane Mode...
Check if u have enabled Airplane mode option in secure settings actions. I think u may need to enable..

Hi everyone,
So i was using the mobile data on my phone today,
But when i turn it off and tried to turn it back on a few hours later, it wouldn't turn on.
The visual switch shows it's on but no icon appears in the notification bar or no connection can be made.
I tried rebooting, i tried restoring a nandroid backup of the rom of when it did work.
Neither worked.
Can anyone tell me how i can fix this?

Hi DevWithCookies,
Try to turn off radio and turn it on using *#*#4636#*#* => Phone Information => Turn off Radio
Also, there's many information there, you can check the status of your Gio GPRS, and try to ping it.
If it is not working, try to reboot, and repeat the step.
If both of them don't work, check your remaining free space and free RAM. For all the services to work properly, you need about 20MB free space on root drive and RAM around 50MB free.
Somehow it decided to work again.
Thanks anyway

A few times a day when i leave work and come back or get home, my wifi wont automatically connect to the remembered wifi connection. Its not every time but it happens enough to irritate me. It connects if i turn wifi off and back on. But otherwise just scans. Im on stock rooted LP. Anyone else having this problem?

The only thing i can think of is when i first updated to 5.0 i used sqlite to hack wifi Hotspot . Thats when the problem started. At least thats when I noticed it. I have factory reset twice and tried flashing a stock rom but some problem.

I'm not having this problem on stock rooted OB7 Odex with deodex services.jar.
Are you avoiding the PRL and update data profile due to the temporary hotspot? Connections Optimizer disabled?
I didn't see that you tried this but have you backed-up internal memory keep-sakes (media, downloads and nandroids) and wiped it along with your factory resets?
With WiFi issues, I'd go one step further with factory reset, internal memory wipe a few times and battery pull prior to Odin of the OB7 stock tar. Treat it like a soft bricked phone; scrap and re-root.
Make sure you're not OE1; it's not possible to downgrade.
Maybe that covers some more items to check. Otherwise full un-root, back to stock and ##786# check hardware against stock un-rooted. Could be hardware.
