Greetings,
I have a samsung galaxy nexus and tried using the most recent AOKP ROM for it. I got a status 7 error and now the device will only boot into CWM. I have made no backups and have no other ROMS. After wiping data and cache, I can finally boot, but it is stuck at the google logo. I cannot add another ROM to boot to since there is no SD to remove and you can't modify the contents in CWM.
Please send me suggestions and help, I would really appreciate it. Kind of in an urgent situation here.
Thanks!
Use adb push or sideload if you want to use cwm or use fastboot.

Hey guys,
still no luck! Please help. I can't use ADP utility because my phone does not get past the boot screen and the phone can't fastboot. Is there any utility out there to help? I downloaded a script that waits for your phone to power up then add a file to the system but it didn't help. I can still boot into CWM. I'm also a little confused on what process you do to get the phone recognized. I held down the power and volume buttons, but nothing helped.
Once again, all suggestions help.

Not sure what "sideload" means, but there are four options selectable with the volume keys. They are "Start", "Shut Down", "Recovery", and "Restart Bootloader".

That is fastboot.. You need to select "recovery" with your volume buttons and then press the power button to boot into recovery. From there you can select "install from SD card". In that menu you can select "adb sideload". Choose that and google on how to do that. Its super easy once you know how ?

That means you are on the bootloader.Select recovery and chech if there is an option for sideload.
Research
I learned early on that doing the research FIRST saves a bunch of anxiety later. You and your GNex will be fine, just don't panic.

[size=+1]THIS THREAD IS OUTDATED!!!!!!!!!!!!! DO NOT USE THIS METHOD TO ROOT UNLESS YOU ARE RUNNING 3.1.[/size]
I recommend using this root method courtesy of solarnz: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1242241
WARNING: Following this procedure may damage or permamently destroy your device. This procedure is provided with NO WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. Perform this procedure at your own risk.
Follow these instructions after unlocking your Xoom to acquire root access on your Xoom. Comes in handy if you just installed the OTA and lost root.
[size=+1]DOWNLOAD:[/size]
WiFi_RootTool_3.1.zip
[size=+1]SUMMARY[/size]
Pushes Superuser, su, and other root files. Sets correct permissions to enable functioning root
Enables external SD card storage (in /sdcard/external)
Prevents system from over-writing custom recovery
Enables USB On-The-Go
[size=+1]ASSUMPTIONS[/size]
You've unlocked your Xoom (this will wipe your data)
You've downloaded the WiFi_RootTool_3.1.zip
You've downloaded a recent ClockworkMod recovery image to your PC: ClockworkMod Recovery (make sure to download the .img, not the .zip)
You've installed a physical SDCard in your Xoom (required for ClockworkMod Recovery updates) and have it functioning properly
You've configured the Android SDK on your PC, with adb functioning properly
You've downloaded fastboot and have it functioning properly (usually alongside adb in platform-tools)
[size=+1]PROCEDURE[/size]
Read through this once before you do it. After performing step 2 you will have to do step 3 immediately or you will have to repeat step 2.
1. Prepare your SD Card
Using an SD Card reader (or Android phone?), move the XOOM_RootTool_3.1.zip file from your PC to the root of your SD Card. Once that is done, install the SD Card into your Xoom. Alternately you can mount the SD Card through the Xoom in recovery after you boot into recovery in step 3 by selecting 'mounts and storage > mount USB storage'. It's always nice to have options.
2. Flash ClockworkMod recovery.img
Connect the usb cable from your PC to your Xoom. Make sure USB Debugging is activated in the Application settings menu.
Connect the usb cable from your PC to your Xoom.
Open up your command prompt naviagate to the folder with adb, then (change 'XXXXXX-XXXX' in code to match filename):
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot flash recovery recovery-solarnz-XXXXXX-XXXX.img
fastboot reboot
3. "Catch the boot" to boot into recovery
This requires some quick reflexes. As soon as you send the 'fastboot reboot' command in the previous step, your device will reboot. You have to boot into recovery right away or your Xoom will reflash the stock recovery over the custom recovery you just installed. Here's how to "catch the boot" and reboot into recovery.
When you see the Motorola logo appear, wait approximately 3 seconds.
Tap the Volume Down button. You should see the words "Android Recovery" appear at the top of the screen. Now tap the Volume Up button to boot into recovery.
If when attempting to "catch the boot" it says 'Starting Fastboot protocol support' then you hit Volume Down too soon. Hold Vol UP + Power to reboot and try again.
4. Flash WiFi_RootTool_3.1.zip
In ClockworkMod Recovery, select "install zip from sdcard"
Select "choose zip from sdcard"
Select "WiFi_RootTool_3.1.zip"
Select "Yes - Install WiFi_RootTool_3.1.zip"
After install select "Reboot System Now"
5. Enjoy root!

Hmm, I'm certain I have the right drivers installed because I successfully unlocked the bootloader last night but now I'm stuck at the "starting fastboot protocal support" screen. Any ideas?

This is the screen where you enter your ADB Commands. You should be able to flash the ClockworkMod recovery from that screen. If you have trouble just reboot (Vol UP + Power button)
Make sure you enter "catch the boot" to enter recovery after entering the "fastboot reboot" command.

I got it to reboot in that in doesn't appear to recognize adb commands. Nothing was listed under adb devices for me. Can't be a driver issue because I unlocked the bootloader just fine and usb debugging is enabled.
I just tried adb with the unit powered on and it worked just fine. In the loading fastboot screen, no dice.

The first boot might take a while. Perhaps you need to do a factory reset on 3G Xooms? I should have had someone test on a 3G Xoom before saying it would work. You know what they say about assuming.

Well, if you don't know what ROM it was, best to just pick one and install it.
Make sure you are on clockworkmod 5.8.4.0, then flash ROM and boot.img.

Might sound a bit scilly, but how do I flash, when I cannot get past that screen, htc screen, assuming the only way to flash, is to actually turn phone past this white screen to place rom on phone?.
Hold power and volume down. Should hit the bootloader.
With the latest recovery, you can mount as card as USB and then copy ROM to phone from pc.

Ben is correct,
Flash clockworkmod touch
then you can mount your USB.
-----
Get Android SDK installed on your PC,
Put phone into fastboot USB
Flash clockworkmod touch via adb
Clockworkmod touch - http://db.tt/VF9J2eo8
Fastboot flash recovery CWM.img
Enter recovery, mount USB storage.
All of the above is done whilst phone is plugged into PC
don't flash anything on low battery

Renaming it? - not sure what you mean here.
Plug phone into PC
Put phone into fastboot USB (power + volume down then select fastboot with then power button )
Place CWM.img inside the same folder as adb, fastboot etc within your android SDK installation
Open command prompt on PC
Default installation commands are:
CD c:/Android-SDK/platform-tools
fastboot flash recovery CWM.img
If you installed android SDK to a location of your choice, you will haven to change the first command to that location.
Etc.

Just type the name of the Clockworkmod recovery file you downloaded, it should be recovery-clockwork-touch-5.8.4.0-endeavoru.img if you have downloaded the latest version.
No harm in renaming it but no need either. As it's a long filename, in most recent versions of Windows, you can type the first few letters then hit TAB and Windows should bring up the correct filename.
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-touch-5.8.4.0-endeavoru.img

I tried to make it simple for you
http://db.tt/VF9J2eo8
Download that, its already renamed to CWM.img to make it simple for you.
The commands for command prompt if you installed Android SDK to its default location are:
CD c:/Android-SDK/platform-tools
fastboot flash recovery CWM.img
The top command is the location of your fastboot, adB etc within Android-SDK, this is the location you place cwm.IMG that you downloaded above.
You run the 2 commands above after you've put your phone into fastboot USB

I'm a noob too.But let me just share with you,
1. Hold vol down and power button to get into bootloader.
2. Once in,select fastboot then choose recovery.
You should be able to see clockworkmod recovery or TWRP,whichever you installed. But to install them you'll need to do it through fastboot on the command prompt (for Windows) or terminal bash (for MasOS).Make sure you have the recovery.img stored in your computer first before proceeding. If you're not sure about this, then maybe you can Google search it first and I'll guarantee it'll take you back to XDA.
Sorry cos I don't have the links to share. But I hope this reply can enlighten you a bit.Good luck!

Rather old news, this was solved about 3 months ago
Hi guys, I have an issue with my Zenfone 2 (ZE551ML).
I flashed CyanogenMod 12.1 and everything was working fine. That is, until I decided I wanted to go back to stock ROM. That's when everything went wrong.
1) I went into recovery mode (using Power + Volume UP).
2) I wiped cache partition (probably my first mistake)
3) I restored to factory settings (possibly my second mistake)
4) After this I tried to flash the "recovery1.img" of the stock ROM I had.
5 ) That didn't work so I tried using ADB to flash different ".zip" files (all firmware downloaded from Asus website)
When that didn't work either, I abandoned and rebooted the phone. But it doesn't boot anymore.
It is stuck on the Asus screen and nothing happens.
Does anyone know if and how I can get out of this situation?
I must insist on the fact that I am only a novice. Until now I've only ever known iOS and have no knowledge whatsoever of how Android works.
I already posted my question here ("http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/xda-assist/possibly-softbricked-zenfone-2-t3248318") and was told I might want to try posting it here as well. I hope one of you can help me repair my mess !
Download one click root, the one with CWM recovery. Place the factory firmware on your external SD card. Run the one click batch file. Type ACCEPT, press enter, the type T4 for option 4, press enter. Let the phone boot into CWM recovery. Select the option to update from external SD, pick your file and wait about 5 mins. Back to stock you go. By the way, to get into fastboot press and hold volume up + power wait for vibration then quickly press volume down about 3 times you should be able to get to fast boot, the run the one click batch.

Thanks for the reply. Do you have a link for the one click root with CWM Recovery ? Can't seem to find it... Also, when I connected my phone to the computer and opened oneclickroot (basic) it says my phone needs to have USB debugging activated (which it did).
I can't get into recovery mode anymore, the phone just loops back to fastboot with no error message.
You just need fast boot only. Look around the forum for the CWM root its here and esy to find.

Are you sure about that. It is clear from your other post that you Re confusing fastboot and adb. adb works from a booted phone, while fastboot works from bootloader. Also, can you get to recovery? I highly doubt you are bricked, but there is definitely some confusion.
Turn off your Google Pixel 3 XL.
Press and hold the Power+Volume Down buttons until bootloader mode (image of an Android with Start above it) appears, then release.
Select Recovery mode. You can use the Volume buttons to cycle through the available options and the Power button to select. The device will flash the Google start screen momentarily and then restarts in Recovery mode.
If presented with an image of a broken Android with “No Command” printed on the screen, press and hold the Power button. Press the Volume Up button once. Then release the Power button.
From the Android Recovery screen, select Wipe data/factory reset.
Select Yes. Wait for several minutes for the factory data reset process to complete.
Select Reboot system now. Allow several minutes for the factory data reset and reboot processes to complete.
Set the phone up again.

"No command" is normal. It is the power and volume key combo from there that actually get you into the recovery menu. That combo timing can be a little tricky. Power, then quickly press and release volume up then release power. You should then see the recovery menu. You might even see your phone with adb devices and have the ability to sideload an OTA (to save user data), but given your current situation I think a factory reset is best,
