[Q] I want air commands on my L900! - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

Ok, so I just bought the Note 2 today thinking that if it had stock 4.3, it would have air commands. It does not! Air Commands was the main reason for this purchase.
I dont mind rooting, I just dont know how to on this particular device.
I am quite familiar with Odin.
I am familair with TWRP and CWM. I dont know where the download files are.
I found this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2467810
But it doesnt tell ne HOW.....or where to get the files
Any leads to HOW and where to obtain would be fantastic!
Oh, I have the L900 version.
Thx!

I might be wrong but I don't think there is a flashable zip to simply add the Note 3 features to the L900 note 2. Some of the other variants apparently work this way but the only way I've seen so far to get the Note 3 features on the Note 2 is the ROM here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2541395
Oh you need the version in a later post that says it has Note 3 features. The version on the OP doesn't have them.
I ran it for a while but TBH I used the s-pen so little and it would reboot about 1 - 2 times a day so I began looking at other roms and settled on another one.

How exactly do I unroot and re-install ROM?

Hello everyone. Well i'm about to sell my Note 3 back to Tmobile for a Note 4 and I need to unroot this and reinstall the original stock rom. How exactly do I do this? I downloaded the original rom and tried to use TWRP recovery to install it and I got an error. It wouldn't allow me to install that rom. I double checked to see if it was the right ROM and sure enough it was.
At this point im lost and I dont know what to do. I just want to get this to stock settings. Can someone just give me a link to a thread that has DIRECT and instructions that are semi easy to understand and follow? Every thread I run into its plagued with large HTML text saying THIS IS OUTDATED USE THIS, only to go there and say NO USE THIS INSTEAD and then ACTUALLY GO BACK TO THE ORIGINAL THREAD.
Any help would be really appreciated. Thank you!
I have a Note 3 SM-N900T from T-Mobile U.S.A.
Follow the instructions in this thread to download and install (via Odin) stock Lollipop.

Do not Odin CF-Auto Root and you will be stock

why don't you wait for the note 5 this close to the release?

Root Method (could possibly work?)

Once again, I switched from my n910a to a n910t3, but I still have the n910a. But I've still been browsing around to discover that some people "Change" their sprint phones to tmo, by using the csc, and cp files (not the AP or BL.) So would it be possible to take the kitkat files of tmo or sprint phones and install them on the att phones? Like if are a rooter out there, you know what I'm talking about and I've done this before and I've been able to do some cool stock rom customizations that I didn't need to I revrrted. So if we could use this to somehow get root in through the csc or cp, and then use safestrap to get a custom kernel and bootloader, and then wipe all the att p00p off of the phone and essential making it a "tmobile" or "sprint" phone with the model of n910a. If ur a pro, you know where I'm getting at. And has the root de la vegla method been tried yet? Combining both methods? The vegla method I remember was used to root the att note 3, and it worked for me, and I got super su as a system app, but then I installed cwm from the phone using flashify, and it gave me the system software unauthorized by att and I fixed it using the files @getyrocks posted. Shout out to him and thanks. If 6ou know my other post with 8k+ views now. @getyrocks have a look at this post and tell me where I'm right and where I'm wrong. So yeah, was wondering if we could use this as a root Method for the note 4 att /verizon or any att/verizon/samsung phone..
Thanks guys

I have watched from afar for a while now, ingesting, learning, waiting, hoping, most importantly gauging and admiring the vast experience and wisdom of those that have come and gone. Now this... is sad.. sad times indeed..

Rooting Quetion

I just purchased a Galaxy Note 4 in mint condition, because I'm not happy with my S 7 Edge, so this will be my daily driver, a I can't stand not having a rootable phone.. Ya this is a few yrs old, but it seems like it still has roms available.. I had a Verizon Note 4 and used the international roms, and still have them... Was there any issue with rooting after it went to 6.0 Marshmellow? I believe this phone will come shipped with it..
No issues I've ever heard of. Just flash twrp with Odin. Then flash supersu. Assuming from your post count you need no help with that.
And of course, if you use international rom, you might need a data fix for your service.

Thanks, Ya I know how to root, but like anything else, I like to check from time to time, when dealing with another phone I have not had.. Ya I had a Verizon Note 4, but that was a pure pain in the aers.. LOL. IfI would have checked before buying the S 7 Edge, I would not have spent the money... Ya I still have some files for the international rom Dr. Keaton, I used for the Verizon Note 4 and also still have the data fix.. But I'm thinking of trying one of the many roms just for Sprint. Thanks looking forward to getting this phone in my hands around the 31 of this month..

Yup and there's a unified AOSP Nougat ROM available that is for our device and it runs great!

Supposedly sometime before Christmas, which should be very soon, a lot of people are anticipating the arrival of @tx_dbs_tx N7 port rom. He's suppose to release it soon. He only releases very stable roms. Im sure it'll be very great.
But until then, if you like high customizable rom, you should try Dtux rom here on sprint thread. And if you like aosp, we have cm14 working pretty damn good and stable. It's on the verizon thread but works for all.
Enjoy your new old note 4, still the best phone money can buy.

I just downloaded that rom you mentioned. So when my phone gets here, I can get started.. One question. Should I root, before I activate it or activate first.

I don't use sprint service, but I would definitely setup and activate phone on pure stock, make sure everything works.
Then once you install twrp, I'd also make a complete stock backup (at least boot, system, efs, modem). Or use something like Flashfire by chainfire to backup partitions. Especially all the EFS partition. Keep it somewhere for safe keeping.
I don't know what kind of modding your going to do, but having a working backup is very helpful.
Then you can do what you want. But yes activate on pure stock, cause that's gonna setup your efs partition correctly and other stuff. Plus some custom roms don't have the Sprint activation software in them.
Finally got my Note 4 it is activated, but need a new sim, because the one Best buy sold me is not compatible. Now my question this one comes with 5.1.1 N910PVPU4C0G5. Is the root method for this the same as arron answered in post 2. Just checking..
I do not see a TWRP for the Note 4 other than the edge, what is the deal.

If you follow the Note 4 Qualcomm path: trlte, you'll find the one for Sprint Note 4.
https://dl.twrp.me/trltespr/twrp-3.0.2-0-trltespr.img.tar
The one above is for Odin flashing in download mode. Use the AP slot but uncheck auto reboot in Odin options. You'll need to wait for your success, 0 fail then pull USB and battery and wait at least 30 seconds. If your initial boot after TWRP flash isn't recovery, you'll end up with stock recovery when you boot there later. It won't stick.
Keep in mind that root methods are same for both lollipop and marshmallow but updating will remove root in most cases, especially using suggested methods. With that in mind, get to the right update before you root. If you're flashing a custom ROM, you don't have to root first; custom ROMs include root.
As already mentioned, make your appropriate backups.

Ok finally got root. Now to debloat this stock rom or install another..

Congratulations!This device has root access!Device: SM-N910A Android Version: 4.4.4??

I bought a phone off of ebat and found out its rooted.
I'm running 4.4.4. And I want to either go back to stock or update to 5.1.1. Or if 6.0.0. Is better. I have root checker pro. SuperSU PseudoPro v2.46. FlashFire Pro v0.73. I've tried everything I can to no avail. I can't afford a new phone. Please help me. I got screen shots of all my info. Just don't know how to post them
Dude feel free to tell me I'm retarded but that's ****in big news right? It's my understanding that the att model is unfortunately impossible to root because of the bootloader.. If I'm wrong and someone figured it out I MUST KNOW lol
Well huh...
I thought it was common knowledge.. I rooted mine on 5.1.1 with Kingo-Root. I know that's not the super cool XDA thing to say.. but .. it's a fact. Screen shot attached of "Samung Phone Info" app..
And yes, I'll lose it on an OS upgrade .. or whatever, but .. I am happy enough where it's at.

one further note that I'm not sure bears relevance, I did flash the ENGINEERING Modem for the 910A before attempting this marvelous trick.
You can find that ENG Boot modem that I flashed before i started the process. with a few minutes on Google. I flashed back the standard CP file for my build after wards..
Hmmmm. I remember my AT&T Note 3 had to be on 5.1.1 before it could be rooted. And it was rooted using towel root.
Does your note 4 have a red light on the back next to your flash, that is capable of checking your blood oxygen levels? And is your home button capable of reading your finger print? If not than I'm afraid your the victim of being sold a fake most likely a Note 3 with software flashed over to appear like Note 4 and say note 4 seriel/info. It does happen. Just wondering if there's a pattern between the methods of 5.1.1, or if it's coincidence or Foul Play. Any more info on your process would be greatly appreciated.
this thread is b.s
Jerry you are only partly right.
I did have my AT&T Note 4 rooted. And that root stuck around exactly one boot cycle. After the phone rebooted, it was gone.
That's why I saved that screen shot above. That and the idea that - not that anyone still gives a damn - but it can be done temporarily, then perhaps that cracks open the door on something more permanent.
As a side note, I was flashing COMBINATION files and ENG BOOT MODEMS and god knows what else and now under download mode, my files are no longer "OFFICIAL" ... they're "CUSTOM" and yet my Warranty bit is still set to 0x0.
Jerry - I'm not a dev and I'm not smart enough to know if any of this adds up to a hill of beans. But maybe before declaring something bull **** -- slow down and look at the info and see if there's a there there?
Attached is a rooted ENG BOOT.img that might provide something I dunno.. It's for 6.01 Marshmallow.
Also attached, the details from the upper LEFT on my device while in download mode. Of all the AT&T Note 4 and Note Edge devices I have had pass thru my hands, this is the first AT&T one that now shows CUSTOM under current binary?
Thanks,
JK

Kingo root does not give u permanent root.
However if you were able to get Kingo root, you could sideload with adb Magisk, download to your PC a version of your rom, ( you need the exact one ) extract the boot.img, copy it or side load it to your phone. And patch the boot image with magisk directly. Then have magisk install the patched rom.
