Is there a reason to ever flash the gapps updates ?
Aren't those updated via Play once installed initially with the ROM & booted ?
These questions and more are already answered in the gapps thread

You have to download the GAPPS zip and flash it in recovery just like u did your rom.

After flashing almost any custom rom you must flash a gapps (Google Apps) package. More info on what the package contains snd why it needs to be flashed separately can be found here.
The most up to date package can be found

[*]Flash GAPPs file immediately afterwards, prior to rebooting (also if you are updating!).

Hello,
I am using Cynogenmod 10 and I recently downloaded the newest Gapps to update my existing ones. My question is:
Can I just flash the newest Gapps? If not, what would the process be?
Thank you very much!

I believe you just have to delete cache and wipe dalvik and install the new gapps.
Make sure Gapps is for JB 4.1.2 and not 4.2.1. CM10 is still on 4.1.2. unless you are running the unofficial 10.1 rom.
Edit** 10.1 Nightlies are now rolling out. So flash 4.2 Gapps if you are planning on running it
Hi all,
I have trouble when installing Gapps on 4.3 version.
I installed every possible 4.3 version and it goes fine but when i installed Gapps (the latest one i have found), the system crached.
Is there any one who had installed the 4.3 version with Gapps with no system problem?
thanks a lot.
What Rom?

What rom and version are you using? I had issues with 10.2 when it first came out and then PA. 3.93 at that version.
gapps 4.3
What version gapps are u using? You should be using 20130813 version with most ROMs.

Not true. You should use 20130813 with only 4.3 ROMs.

Yes, you are correct. You should be using 20130813 gapps with most 4.3 ROMs, which of course is what raafett was inquiring about.
Hi there
A beginner question.. I guess there will be kitkat versions of pacman sooner or later and I wondered how the best way to upgrade would work.
There are already packages for the new apps, I assume this is the same as the "gapps" package I installed when installing pacman.
- is it possible to install the new gapps now already?
- how to upgrade pacman once it's there and does this reset my settings or is there a better process?
Thanks a lot, I'm a bit confused

You can't install the new gapps yet because we don't have 4.4 update yet. As for updating pacrom, you can read op in the pacrom thread.

I was reading thru the posts for the IOKP ROM, and decided to flash it. I got it rooted, but now I need to flash gapps. There are two different gapps on the OP for the IOKP ROM. The first one is in the first post; the second gapps is in the second post. Which one do I flash? They both look like gapps 4.3. Will it hurt my device to flash 4.3 gapps to a 4.4.2 ROM?

There are plenty of 4.4 gapp packages around. I don't think the 4.3 will work.
